Tuesday the Fed lowered the "rates" with 0.25% it caused the stock market to "tank" because, no one was sure about its effect, let alone future "cuts". Today the market kind of recovered by just about UP 300 points, until the "bully" opened his big mouth again around 1:30 PM, then the total "idiot" announced that he wants to put some more tariffs on China (10%) on top of the 25% ; immediately the market crashed by 200 points DOWN. Which implies an total of 500 points down in less than an hour.

All if this shows how "nuts" this country is as I've said an million times. NEVER GIVE AN PRESIDENT ALL OF THESE POWERS TO MEDDLE INTO EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD, LET ALONE THINGS OF WHICH HE"S TOTALLY UNQUALIFIED FOR DOING. One thing is "URGENT"; make an mandatory "manual" about the limits of what an President can do.

Furthermore nothing like this subject was discussed by the "candidates" about curtailing the powers of any President.

If this country is so "fond" of dictators, then continue on this path, which implies that this country is "doomed" for sure.

    Amen

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump and his cronies were playing the market making it go up and down on Trump's edicts and Tweets. Buying and selling for quick profits. Who would ever know?

Schmidt, I bet that he wants these things to happen; he thrives on that; he loves chaos and will make sure his timing to launch "awful things" works. He can't go one day without "shit". He belongs in an mental institute; but that does not work either, because he will bribe his way out of it.

China dropped the value of the Yuan; the stock market took a huge dive; about 895 points down. Yes people that is what you get if an President meddles in issues which require "experts" which he did not hire except some "loyal" numb skulls like Kudlow, Navvaro, Ross, Meadows, Mnuchin etc. Now he wants the Fed to lower the Dollar. He never went to school, has not any achievement related "economics" let alone an "grade" in anything, except about 5 Bankruptcy's. And this is running our country? You must be kidding. Sorry people the "trade war" was started by Trump; and guess who will loose this war; as all the wars started by this country?

Another actually funny thing was announced by Trump. He made an "deal"? with the EU about the export of "beef" from the US to Europe. What an total joke. EU has the best beef in the world, not the GMO fed cows; corn fed etc. Especially in France and the Netherlands as well Scandinavia the beef is superior above anything served here, because the cattle eat there clean healthy grass without pesticides. Also if this stuff is frozen for transport, it will become tasteless over time etc. Ever ate an French "tournado" were your knife sinks in without any pressure and melts on your tongue? Forget it Trump, they will not import much of this "crap" , also because of stringent EU rules about "beef" when tested upon import. Trump's la la land for sure.

I guess no one is interested why this country will drown into the "swamp" created by Trump and the GOP.

Dutch -- I have been watching the Katy Tur -- Jacob Saboroff series on Sunday night entitled American Swamp.

"NBC News and MSNBC award-winning journalists Katy Tur and Jacob Soboroff are joining forces for a four-part docuseries event. Each hour-long episode follows Tur and Soboroff on an immersive journey as they travel throughout the United States and look at areas of political dysfunction and what can be done to fix the ever-rising waters of the “swamp.” Catch the third episode, "Voting Rights and Wrongs" on Sunday, August 18 at 9 P.M. EST on MSNBC."

Yes, I did watch the first two; they should continue these types of programs, in order to really show what weirdo's this country produces. "Freedom" should still have "limits" as well Presidents.

The Dow dropped again more than 500 points; of course Trump blamed China, while he's the original culprit. All of this is felt worldwide; the yield on the 10 year note dropped to its lowest point ever. So the whole world is affected.

That is what you get if you elect an total incompetent government without real "trade/negotiation experience, but only push bully tactics. Negotiation as I've done so many times worldwide, should be always based on an win-win situation, so both parties are happy with the end result. In Trumps case it is only "win" for himself, but never "both" parties.

The whole world is now in turmoil thanks to one "idiot", who "dumb" people here elected, because of an "corrupt broken " election system.

In the end he (and us) will become the "looser" not China, because they have a "longer breath", to be able to "sit" it out.

When the DOW is doing good, trump will take credit for it, if it takes a dive, he'll blame it on the fed chair. Trump will never accept responsibility for anything.

Trump will also try to bully his critics, he openly told Beto O'Rourke to be quiet, in other words, shut up.

If you are an insider in the Trump administration you can make out like a bandit buying and selling just before every Trump pronouncement.

I suppose that is true, but it would need to be proven in a court, and for me, I would not want to be on the receiving end of an insider trading charge. Would any of trump's minions chance something like that? Maybe. Some have already been indicted for money laundering.

I guess people here forget that "business/trade" is intertwined with the whole world; Trump does not understand that. He goes from country to country without thinking about the effect on others. Like Pompeo now wants to make a deal with Britain because of the Brexit; but refuses to think about consequences around the world as well Europe.

Sorry people they have no "brains" left in this country in the government ( Trump tossed the once's with "brains" out); everything is connected nowadays. If you follow and understand the stock market then you can see clearly, where the issues are. Forget "politics" as well what Trump says; it is all "child like B.S".. Wake up America, the rest of the world knows it better what is trade all about. Amen

    Isn't that insider trading ?

Yes it is insider trading, but for Trump and his cronies it seems that they can defy the law with impunity.

On Dutch's point, the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement was meant to consolidate piecemeal agreements with varying terms into one large agreement with no ambiguity of terms. The old NAFTA was being modified and consolidated into the TPP. Unions and environmentalists had a seat at the table.

So it was a good agreement...not perfect for everyone, but a good consensus of compromise with 11 countries participating. However, for Trump it had two flaws: 1) the Obama administration negotiated it, and 2) Trump likes bilateral agreements so he can just work with one country at a time...or maybe the more appropriate term is "bully and intimidate". Harder to bully with multiple countries in an agreement.

The new NAFTA agreement, the United States - Mexico-Canada Agrement (USMCA), has terms very similar to what Obama's team negotiated for the TPP. He did not get a better deal.

Oh and Bernie Sanders is dead set against USMCA, much like the old NAFTA.
