Huuuge game. Huge event. Hoping for an entirely entertaining game with no injuries. USA will win. Hateful division has no place here. That's for stupid shallow people. 23 members on our team. I will cheer for all of them.

Edit/add. For those not aware: kick off was at 11:00 am Eastern standard and telecast is on Fox television. 7 minutes in 0 - 0

USWNT won over the Netherlands 2 - 0. It was a hard fought competition. I enjoyed watching the game. They should be proud.

I confess that I did not watch any of the World Cup games, but I'm impressed by the fact that the women's team has won 4 World Cup titles, and this year's was the second year in a row.

Trump has said that he would invite the team to the White House, win or lose, but few, if any, plan to attend. Megan Rapinoe is not a fan of Trump, and neither are some of her teammates. Rapinoe DID go to the White House in 2015 when her team won the Women's World Cup championship, but Obama was still in office then.

Rapinoe's girlfriend, WNBA star Sue Bird, also did not go to the White House when she won the WNBA title in 2018.

Like Colin Kaepernick, she knelt during the national anthem in 2016 - and she has also signed endorsement deals with Nike.

No, that happens if you mix US football with "'soccer".

I watched it without audio crossing the Atlantic. For some reason the video worked but not the audio. So I was able to watch the game unfiltered by the media people "explaining things". My observation is that the Dutch have an excellent team and are worthy of being European champions. But the USA team was in a league of their own having beat Spain, France, England and Netherlands to become champion. Well I suppose they didn't have to face the Germans thanks to the Dutch beating them.

Trump politics has ruined so many sports with his ignorant rants. How is that many Americans (the die hard Trump supporters) were cheering against the US team because of their shared hate of Megan Rapinoe, the best player?

No audio at all, or just not commentary?

For several years, before high speed internet that could do high quality video, I had a big satellite dish that would pick up all kinds of sports games and it multiple audio channels. Game sound would be in two channels (stereo), and the commentary would be have it own isolated channel. This made it easy turn off the commentary and just watch and listen to the game as if I was there. No constant yacking by commentors. Sports bars also like being able to mute the channel with commentator so they could have only the game sound.

You'll notice that a majority of sport figures have very good reason to be vocal about the Trump administration, and their comments tend to be about specific policies, such as being anti-LGBT. Trump's typical response is to deflect the criticism by making a personal insult:

"I don't know much about her, but I hear she is a major loser and the team would do better without her. Just look at her hair, no wonder she is a lesbian, no guy would ever date someone who is that unattractive. Maybe she just need a new hairstylist. Anything would help".

Ask Trumps' base why they dislike her, they echo trump: "Because she is a man-hating lesbian and she sucks at playing soccer?

Megan Rapinoe will be on Rachel Madow tonight

I watched Megan Rapinoe on Rachel's show. She presents herself well, and is a great team co-captain. Very likable. Americans should be proud of her as not only an accomplished soccer (football) player but also as a representative of women in their quest for equality in pay.

wwjd -- the loss of audio was due to a technical glitch on the Lufthansa airplane. I might get one second audio bursts every now and then but mostly quiet.

I also watched Megan Rapinoe's speech in New York celebrating the Women's World Cup win. She is articulate and genuine and humorous at times sharing the success with her teammates and thanking everyone for their support. She knows how to give a victory speech that is gracious with a message to all Americas to be better. I see a future role in politics for her.

The Trump Propaganda Network (Fox News) avoided coverage of the parade and her speech, I suppose in case Trump might be watching. I suppose they didn't want to upset him yet again by featuring his "enemy".

It is my perception that Trump does not know how to deal with strong women nor LGBT women. Trump needs to sense weakness, and IMO, he is has difficulty detecting weaknesses in women who naturally have a dominate personality, and especially LGBT women. He struggles with Polsi and Harris, women who don't take shit from anybody, especially old school men who have trophy wives that have only one of two purposes, 1) in the bedroom 2) at social events where wives are seen, but rarely speak.
