Not very important; just wait another year; things will have changed drastically by then. By that time Trump will have spent at least billions on his campaigns for the dumb people here and thrown enough bribery money around and becomes our new Hitler with the help of Himmler (Miller). Mark my words, unless the Dem's stop being naive for a change.

Sorry to say, their only chance is to get his tax returns and the Deutsche Bank info about his money laundering via the Russians. If not , he wins again.

I am pleased to see that Montana Governor Steve Bullock made the CNN debate. He'll be on the first night. He isn't well known, but in my view would be a top candidate if people got better acquainted with him. He's a moderate Democrat, perhaps the most moderate of the field.

Sure you can say that; however this system does not work since this country has not learned or changed anything related to the proper "vetting" and an "election system" without huge amounts of "money" , then the same thing will happen again and we find out "afterwards" where all the "skeletons" are buried. The "vetting" should start even before anyone is even allowed to debate via an proper "vetting manual" which does not even exist. What are the qualifications of any of the 20 plus? What would they do in case of an "war" or "emergency"? They don't even have a clue about health care and just shout something. Just leave the corruption in it as well the lobbyists and give the "rich" free healthcare, for what? Crazy!

This way every idiot can become President, which is now the case!

    Shaking my old head.

    From Dutch:

Money, and lot's of it. The DNC thinks the only way to get a D nominee is that the candidate must have and raise $$$$$$$$$$. Forget the vetting. Either that, or acquiring someone who is 10 times as nasty as Trump.

Dock the problem is that the "people" who run have no clue about the job; it is different than any other job. First of all it is not an "company" or "business" or "lawyer job", what you are "leading" as well neither selling an "product". But the requirement should be that you should have and "satellite" view of the whole world and its structure and "why do people do things" as well what is "religion" all about; such person should have lots of knowledge of the human mind, and much more than an "shrink" as well should have great negotiations kills for "win-win" situations (thus not only bully tactics) Also governing is an "team" activity; not "I alone can do it"; neither accuse everything else about his/her own failures. etc etc. Also there is no "training school for this job" so this person has to be able to do the job from day one.

Thus as long as nothing is done as I mentioned, then this country may get lots of Trump types or an Trump "forever" until this country collapses. Amen

Have friends and neighbors over to watch. Cnn had an interesting article on the field becoming more narrow. I am looking forward to watching. Tonight I believe.

Yes, it is best to watch it first hand than to get the impressions of the pundits and columnists hours and days later...or the notable clips that they choose to highlight again and again, ignoring more important bits. I missed the first debates but will be glued to the TV watching these. I also wish Steve Bullock well for his debut.

Joe Biden needs to "not show his age"....don't do a "Mueller".

I felt that all the candidates presented themselves well, at least compared to Trump. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren were more or less a "team" defending their far left Medicare for All, free college, and other "free stuff" from the skeptical moderates. Tim Ryan, John Delany, Steve Bullock, Amy Klobuchar and John Hickenlooper carried the arguments of the moderates that the party cannot win on the Sanders-Warren proposals. O'Rourke and Buttigieg were somewhere in-between, but whatever they said was less memorable because I already forgot. Too many people on the stage to distinguish much of what they said, other than Sanders and Warren.

While I like the assertiveness and command of the issues by Warren, I have to admit that many of her proposals (as well as Bernie's) will not sell to the public at large. That's why Biden is leading in the polls. He has centrist positions as well as the African-American support.

If Biden stumbles on the second day (does a Mueller), there are several excellent moderates ready to take his place.

Okay a few more thoughts after I slept on it:

Bernie's version of Medicare for All is a loser for Democrats once the public fully understands what's really in his proposal and how much it will cost. The issue that was brought out again and again is that single payer means that the private health care industry is essentially dead. For the 160 Americans with employer based health care plans or Union based plans, those will be replaced by Bernie's plan...a government run monopoly where everything is free and everyone pays...well not everyone. For some that is free also.

Less evident, is that for those seniors on Medicare, we too will lose our plans as traditional Medicare as we know it will no longer exist; the Medicare Trust fund likewise will be rolled into the Bernie Medicare for All coffers. Oh and us seniors will therefore have to pay more, although Bernie will argue that point.

The math just doesn't work for Bernie's claims that everyone in America and it's territories will get free health care on demand including dentists, eye doctors, podiatrists, etc. with no deductibles, copays or premiums of any kind, with no rationing of services for likely doctor or nurse shortages. And the middle class workers pay nothing...all the costs are paid for by that nebulous tax on the rich and corporations, with remunerations to doctors, nurses, hospitals and other care giving facilities slashed to be brought in line with basic Medicare published rates.

Oh and not in the original bill but now seemingly a part of the Bernie plan based on last night's debate is that all undocumented workers and asylum seekers will also get free health care on demand. This will rub a lot of blue collar workers the wrong way.

Schmidt, If Bernie is president the cold reality is nothing he proposes will pass without compromise. What will result is a system far better than existing now after compromises wrangle it toward centrists. So nothing to worry about. Things will only change a little and that little will be concessions to the humanitarian side of people’s consciences. Why argue the extreme that will never happen?

Sorry, as I've said before "none" of these"candidates" are suited to become President. The way they talk about "healthcare" shows how stupid they are. None of them look over our border how others do it. As I've said quite a few times how it should work i.e. Private insurance required above a certain income; for the rest paid via salary deduction for an government controlled plan. That's all folks, is that so f.....g difficult? Get the "lobbyist" out of it as well "politics" and stupid "pill" adds. Amen

Schmidt said: “Oh and not in the original bill but now seemingly a part of the Bernie plan based on last night's debate is that all undocumented workers and asylum seekers will also get free health care on demand. This will rub a lot of blue collar workers the wrong way.”

Wouldn't that be a cheap price for all the cheap labor? They will form the largest group in work exempt from minimum wage laws.

  • Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes that would work if the unemployment rate was below 1 percent. In other words that "cheap labor" was not displacing American workers from their jobs. In a sense we already have that with cheap imports from Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, Thailand and other southeast Asia countries as well as some Central American countries. That cheap labor has displaced labor in the more expensive American job market. However, it is better to import their products than their people. Let them stay in their home countries as long as there is political stability.
