Right on Dutch. On PBS, a journalist was interviewing a farmer, and asked if the farmer supported trump and his tariff policies, not amazingly, he did, even when it meant consumers and himself were the ones who were paying for them. The farmer claimed the tariffs were hurting him and his family, but still supported the conman. Talk about ignorance. And he's not alone either. A major appliance dealer in the Chicago area supports trumps congame too. Some people were more than glad to pay anything extra for the stoves, refrigerators, washers and dryers. They seemed to like the made in America cliché, even though most of the items being sold in that store came from China. Talk about stupidity on a grand scale, American citizens are really dumbed down.

Import tariffs aren't paid by countries. Passed on and paid by consumers 100% of the time.

The thing they forget as well, that even"in" US made appliances" there are an huge number of China/Far East made parts; like circuit boards, pumps, bearings, wiring, switches etc. etc. Also in US made cars/trucks, most parts are coming from the outside of the US, like dashes, instruments, GPS, brake parts, switches, engine control modules as well lights etc.

Whatever electronics are bought here, they will have an high content of Far East parts.

Thus if you buy an GM made truck then about half the value is likely Chinese made; even the steel or aluminum is likely imported. So good luck Trump, you don't have a clue! Yes just wait, everything you use will become more expensive; even Boeing aircraft, because most civil aircraft "parts" and aircraft quality "aluminum" comes from other countries. The Trump team does not contain any "experts" in engineering or manufacturing as far as I know, so any deal will be an mess to resolve for the manufacturers of the end products All of this will be consuming your last raise, if you got any at all! Trumps "economy" wont't last, mark my words. He lost "billions", he will also loose "billions" for us. Amen

I've got the impression that the Trump voters don't budge; they don't care if Trump lost "billions" and is loosing again billions of our money as we speak. China will put "tariffs" on US goods per June 1st; it surely will affect the "middle" of the country again, which means " millions" of subsidies to the farmers who want to sell products to China. Don't forget the "subsidies" come out of our paid tax money. I already bet that China will be the winner in the end; they at least have an multi year "planning"; here they don't even plan one day ahead.

All of a sudden Pompeo changed his plan to visit Putin, but now intent to visit Europe first to "push" his stance on Iran. Good luck, Europe will not be interested, if they use their brains. In this case the US is not attacked, so the "deal" of "helping" the US is not in the picture. I hope Europe will stick to this and don't get sucked in. The push here is likely from the "evangelical idiots" here who love to have WWIII. Shaking my old head.

The latest: Trump tweeted: China will be hurt very badly ( if I don't get it my way) the bully in action. I guess he forgets that this "island" is no longer number "one" in the world, but trillions in "debt" with huge "loans" from China.

Finally on MSNBC they mentioned that China is able to totally ruin this country, if they no longer help the treasury here by buying bonds covering our trillions of debt. As you all know this country is "broke" ( just like Trump). China also can stop any US goods from entering their country; they may do so. Another thing Trump said is then we can "make" all of these things in the US again; like Apple cellphones. However he's forgetting a few things. Guess what, the "robots" and "precision" tools to make tiny chips etc are not available here; to start up an "plant" here cost fortunes and time, as well initial capital, then on top of that the labor cost is much higher, let alone the lack of skills here, as well management cost. So an cellphone costing now $400 from China, will cost if we make it at least $12oo. This applies to everything which we import from China, Vietnam, Bangla Desh, Japan etc. We never will be able to beat their cost versus ours. Thus our "most intelligent" leader has it wrong again. That is what you get if you select an leader who "knew it all" but never went to school; daddy "bought his diploma.

I have to wonder as I watch the stock market go up and down based on the latest Trump Tweet, is he or someone taking advantage of these market swings, buying and selling to make a quick profit. Trump tells his buddies and family he's going to announce new tariffs on China, so they sell in the market right before he makes the announcement. Then he tells his buddies and family he's going to announce that he's going to reach an agreement with China, and they buy ahead of that announcement. Or maybe he himself is also profiting buying and selling on the side. He is untouchable...a sitting president cannot be indicted.

I think that might be the way it is working. Remember as a "businessman" Trump did not directly make money from his various ventures, but rather financed them in the market place using other people's money and then bailed before they went under saddling the investors with the debt.

Okay this is pure speculation with no substantive evidence on my part. Just thinking there might be a pattern here.

Schmidt you are right; he does not do it but his "accountant" does do it for him. Here is something related to that:

Also he ordered to Cohn and MNuchin to "print" more "money" to solve the "deficit" debacle.

And people here think the "economy" is great; just wait and see; the "slope" will reverse before you know it.

Here is another issue where people should realize what Trump is doing as an traitor i.e. spilling the "beans" talking to Putin. What should be the punishment for Trump?
