Rick Perry is the latest Trump cabinet member to submit his resignation. Trump quickly asked him if he would like to lead Homeland Security (a job which he is also unqualified for), but Perry wisely chose to take a pass.

During the 2012 Republican primary, Perry said that he would eliminate three departments if elected. They were education, commerce, and .... oops, I forget. The "oops" department was the Department of Energy.

If you read the notes under "Secretary of Energy" at the link below, you'll quickly see that Perry was COMPLETELY unfit for the job. His job immediately prior to his job as the secretary was on "Dancing with the Stars":

Fortunately for all of us, the deputy Secretary of Energy, Dan Brouillette, actually DOES appear to be qualified to head the department. More than likely, he would then become "acting" Secretary, but with Trump at the helm, there is no guarantee. Since Jared Kushner has a lot of energy, he would be as likely as anyone else to be considered.

The Department of Energy was created in 1977, when a nuclear physicist named Jimmy Carter was president. Among the responsibilities of the department are the safeguarding our nuclear weapons and supervising radioactive waste disposal.

Since I've read Rachel Maddow's book, "Drift:The Unmooring of American Military Power", I know more about nuclear weapons that Rick Perry does, but Trump didn't nominate me for the position.

The only thing I get out of this, is that this country is going to hell. The total incompetence is unbelievable. My biggest question is how can all of this get back to normal. This will take ages, or we end up as Venezuela.

Well Dutch, Seems like the country isn't to upset. I talked to a right wing father of three , 35 years old 25k year and he is not phased that college might cost 150k. Says his kids will learn to take care of themselves like he has. Right wing propaganda has built built such a false sense of rugged individualism there may be no help. Maybe two possible Democratic candidates have enough heart and soul to fight the battle but the majority of people seem to be not associated with social responsibility. Picking status quo.

I posed the theory to the conservative father that insurance is a form of socialising risk by many people pooling there money to offset the cost of automobile insurance. His right wing reply was "insurance is a choice". I said auto insurance is almost universally required by law.

Chet, sure you are correct. However I was pointing to the total incompetence in all the by Trump appointed people as described by Arizona. This will have certainly effect on how an government can work efficiently as well money wasted on stupidity or things we as taxpayers don't need or want.

Well, tell him next time he or his family gets sick to stay the hell out of the ER. I am tired of subsidizing deadbeats like him. Also I won’t stick a cent into the coffee can at the gas station when his kid gets leukemia and he can’t get coverage.

As regards Rick Perry, the only option he has is Faux Noise “contributor”. Imo, he is too stupid to be a lobbyist.

Although Perry announced his decision to resign back in April (effective at the end of the year) , a recent development shows that he, too, is also involved in the Ukraine mess. Perry attended Zellensky's inauguration (in place of Mike Pence) but he also met with Zellensky at least two other times.

Why would the guy in charge of our nuclear weapons need to meet with the president of Ukraine?

Perry’s departure is the latest major shake-up in the Trump administration and follows Nielsen’s resignation, as well as the departures of national security adviser John Bolton, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and chief of staff John Kelly.

Perry just became the latest Trump official thrown under the bus by Trump>

“Not a lot of people know this but, I didn’t even want to make the call. The only reason I made the call was because Rick asked me to. Something about an LNG [liquified natural gas] plant,” one source said, recalling the president’s comments. 2 other sources confirmed the first source’s recollection.

Trump made these comments during a conference call with House members on Friday, according to 3 sources on the call.

Interestingly, Rick Perry and his LNG initiative were not mentioned anywhere within the White House’s 5-page partial transcript of the call where President Trump asked for a “favor” from Ukraine’s President Zelensky.
