    cnbc.com/2019/02/22/new-york-preparing-...

Several major news organization and legal experts are predicting that Trump will be pardoning Manafort for "health reasons". Manafort has remained silent and even lied for trump under oath. Trump intends to send a coded public message to everyone on Trump's Team that he will pardon them if they remain silent and loyal.

My prediction is that Trump will not let Manafort sit in prison for even a few days. Trump wants to be clear and swift about loyalty. I doubt he's going to allow anyone who lies for him and remains loyal, be sent to federal prison for even a few days.

Trump's strategy may work with others like Manafort who's entire life involves criminal activities and associating with (internal )organized crime, but Trump's strategy is not going work with low level people who are caught in the dragnet and never been involved in criminal activities before. They are not going to take the fall for Trump, then pray the MF gives them a pardon.

Manafort just got another 43 months.

Trump will either pardon Manafort very very soon, or gamble that Manafort won't rat out Trump. Its still looking like Trump is going to to issue a pardon soon (ie in days, not weeks).

It appears the state of New York may want to throw cold water on any pardon talk considering they just indicted Manafort on a host of state charges that Donald wouldn't be able to pardon his way out of.

Paul Manafort indicted in New York state on 16 charges

I think it was actually a total of 70 months, but it running in parallel, not consecutive. 70-47=43.

He is 69. I am still thinking Trump is going to pull the trigger on a pardon soon justifying "Health reasons". This has been very stressful for Manafort; we can assume Trump's doctor has already determined that Manafort needs to be recuperating at Mar-a-largo playing golf with internal leaders that are looking make deals that never been possible before with past presidents, who had difficulties crossing legal\ethical\political lines, that don't exist for Trump. Got money? All deals are on the table. Manafort is just guy that help Trump close the deal. A padon = several Billions in future deals.

The only big fish left to fry are Trump, Trump Jr, Kushner and Ivanka. Stone is holding out the same as Manafort, so perhaps the longer Manafort is imprisoned awaiting his pardon, the more likely Stone and others might wonder if Trump is playing them as well.

As reported, perfect timing. At best a pardon would just temporarily keep Manafort out of prison.

Hopefully Manafort sees the writing on the wall, that there is absolutely no way the justice system in our country is going to let someone as big and as corrupt as Manafort be given a get out of free card by the president of the US. If Manafort is betting on Trump, is a very bad bet. If not for Trump, Manafort would be a free man today, running his scams undetected, and nobody investigating him.

.... Everything that Trump touches, dies.

Mueller's handling of the investigation may, or may not, work out well for political justice, but I agree that Mueller has Trump and his inner circle boxed in with no way out, including the high probability there will be the abuse of pardons. There is a small chance we might have to wait until Trump is out of office to be charged with laundry list of crimes unrelated to his time in office or his campaign.

Danny Cevallos, former defense attorney and MSNBC analyst, just said on TV that Trump could pardon Manafort at any moment he chooses without the normal and customary oversight and procedures. If he issued a Tweet tonight that said "I pardon Paul Manafort," then Paul Manafort is automatically pardoned and released from jail. Once Trump pardons a person there is no mechanism to "unpardon" him.

That's the way it works in Trump world. I'm sure that Trump will add his own spin on the reason for the pardon, but he doesn't owe an explanation to anyone.

...And Cevallos said Trump very may do it by tweet. It got a laugh on MPT Daily, but Cevallos explained with a straight face that we should expect it to happen. The MTP panel seemed to agree a pardon was a win-win for Trump. The worse things get for everyone else, the better things get for him.

And yes, Trump could literally could say "I am pardoning Paul Manafort because he kept his mouth shut about other crimes" and there is nothing anybody could do about it.

If the SDNY can come up with 16 indictments against Manafort, I wonder what might be in store for Jared Kushner, Ivanka, Trump Jr, Eric Trump and the old man himself. This may be the ultimate path for justice being served on this family mob.

It's actually Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. that charged Manafort, which is a huge deal because President's can't pardon people convicted of a state crime.

Oh yes, I stand corrected. I knew that, but it slipped my mind. Anyway it really complicates whatever strategy Trump has on his mind. Or maybe he doesn't have any strategy and just reacts on a whim.

IMO, The only strategy he ever thinks about is his exit strategy. He wings everything else based on the color of the wind and the morning report on Fox and Friends who [insert crude metaphor about sucking male genitalia].

If he perceives himself cornered, my best guess is he will pardon his entire inner circle, resign, the he fly off to Mara-largo within a 3 hour period. He'll fain having a heart attack as the reason for resigning, or whatever, declare victory, and go build Trump towers in Moscow and North Korea.

....leaving us with Mike Pence, who will save us from homosexuality.
