The cockpit voice recorder from the deadly crash of the Boeing 767 near Houston last month indicates a loss of control of the aircraft. "The recovered voice recorder shows that "crew communications consistent with a loss of control of the aircraft began approximately 18 seconds prior to the end of the recording," according to the NTSB, which is investigating the crash."

In addition to the Amazon packages, the plane was also carry cargo for the U.S. Postal Service.
I haven't seen anyone speculating as to what would have caused a sudden loss of control as the plane was descending into the Houston area. I suppose we will find out in due course as the flight recorder is also analyzed and the wreckage recovered from the bay is examined.
