I don't want to be the devils advocate, but as I've said a zillion times even such things as you describe are not in the law. It are the "rules" which are useless because they have no penalties if not followed ; even Comey fell for it and did cost Hillary her nomination.

So my question remains; who is finally going to fix all the omissions in our laws which are totally incomplete as well are weak and have no solid penalties. Thus when are the Dem's going to update the laws here? I guess never.

Various political analysts on both sides are predicting that Barr will drop a huge political bomb charging high level members of the Obama Administration with using FBI and other government resources to illegally spy on Donald Trump in 2016. Barr likely will drop the bomb sometime in late October depending on how good\bad Trump numbers are.

While unlikely the charges could go as high as President Obama and VP Biden, but its likely Barr will charge lower level people while publicly speculating (without evidence) that Barack Obama and Joe Biden authorized the spying.

Something like: "We are today charging XXX and YYYY with indictments of spying on the 2016 Trump campaign that was authorized by Obama Administration. We believe both Barack Obama and Joe Biden were fully involved in the spying, but are not being charged at this time. The investigation continues, and future indictments may come. "

The Justice Department is expected to file an antitrust lawsuit against Google as soon as this month, according to two people familiar with the matter, after Attorney General William P. Barr overruled dozens of federal attorneys who initially signaled the U.S. government was not ready to bring such a landmark case.

An antitrust lawsuit against Google would mark the second major entanglement between the U.S. government and the tech giant over its corporate footprint. Federal regulators under former president Barack Obama similarly probed Google, but his administration ultimately concluded its investigation in 2013 without pursuing significant, structural changes at the Mountain View, Calif.-based behemoth, including a breakup of the company.

The decision to honor Attorney General William Barr at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast later this month has been called "shocking, incomprehensible and scandalous" by the Association of U.S. Catholic Priests.

Barr is to be given the Christifideles Laici (Faithful Christian Laity) award by the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast (NCPB) at their virtual prayer breakfast on Sept. 23. The NCPB website says the award is given to laity whose work "exemplifies" the teaching of the Catholic Church and to "help highlight those good works and those who serve the Church so well." The trophy inscription reads: "In Honor and Gratitude for Fidelity to the Church, Exemplary, Selfless and Steadfast Service in the Lord's Vineyard."

Really? How exactly does Barr as U.S. attorney general exemplify the teachings of the church?

According to the article below, he does not.

Yes even the Catholics are getting worse than they already were. Jesus is turning around in his "dust". The Catholic church again proves that they are lost in the self created shit they preach; but yeah let the "money" flow that helps. Please bring another puke bucket.

Barr is continuing to do his work as Trump's PERSONAL attorney.

The Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into whether President Trump’s former national security adviser John R. Bolton unlawfully disclosed classified information in a memoir this summer, an inquiry that the department began after it failed to stop the book’s publication, according to three people familiar with the matter.

If you've read the book, you noticed that Bolton went to great pains to ensure that classified information was no disclosed in the book.

Mr. Bolton denied that he published classified information. “Ambassador Bolton emphatically rejects any claim that he acted improperly, let alone criminally, in connection with the publication of his book, and he will cooperate fully, as he has throughout, with any official inquiry into his conduct,” his lawyer Charles J. Cooper said in a statement.

Bolton's parting words in his book?

    "Bring it on!"

Yes Barr should have been thrown out a long time ago. Since he'snot doing the job as defined in the Constitution and is not following it but acts as Trump's personal lawyer. Then he should be removed at once. But yeah where is the oversight and who gets this done? I guess no one. That is how this stupid country operates. It has become an country without any "backbone"

Barr recently talked at the conservative Hillsdale College.

While there, he said Covid-19 lockdowns are the 'greatest intrusion on civil liberties' in US history since slavery.

I can't be more blunt about this.

Barr is just f*****g nuts !!

I just keep wondering about this country; how did they manage to get all these brainless idiots together in the government?

Even countries in Africa and S.America at least throw such idiots out, but not here. Let' talk and talk and B.S. that is the national culture here. Barr has broken all the Constitutional rules and laws but still sits there on his fat ass. What is wrong with this country? Who is finally ever going to re-write our laws so that they make sense and have black and white penalties if they are not followed. "Impeachments", "acts" or "rules" or "emolument "clauses", don't work as has been proven over and over again, but does this country learn from it; it keeps refusing to write solid laws without "loopholes or B.S. in order to fix this "old" problem here, because the zillion "lawyers" here want to make hoards of money by not fixing it.? Yes this country can be proud to be "number one" in "banana republics.

A federal judge has denied Attorney General Bill Barr’s motion to have the Department of Justice represent President Donald Trump in a defamation case brought by journalist E. Jean Carroll, who says Trump raped her.

“Lewis A. Kaplan of Federal District Court in Manhattan, rejected the Justice Department’s attempt to step into the case and defend the president, and his ruling means that, for the moment, a lawsuit by the writer E. Jean Carroll can move forward against Mr. Trump, in his capacity as a private citizen,” The New York Times reports.

This morning, the New York Times revealed that Trump and Attorney General William Barr worked together to try to stop a criminal investigation into a bank owned by the Turkish state. The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Geoffrey Berman, was preparing a case against Halkbank, which the government suspected was laundering money and sending billions of dollars to Iran, in violation of U.S. sanctions. Investigators believed Iran was using the money to pay for its nuclear weapons program. The case involved President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and members of his family and his political party. In June 2019, Berman was shocked when Barr asked him to end the investigations and let Halkbank get away with paying a fine and admitting some wrongdoing.

The story shows Trump undermining American policy to advance his own interests. From the beginning of Trump’s presidency, Turkey worked to gain influence with the new administration, hiring Trump’s former national security adviser Mike Flynn, for example, as a lobbyist. Erdogan had personally lobbied Trump hard to get rid of the Halkbank investigation. Senior officials worried that the president was chatting with an authoritarian leader about a criminal case, in a country where Trump does business.

(Trump and his family have long had business ties in and with Turkey, the most visible example being the Trump Towers Istanbul, which licenses the Trump name. The Trump Organization describes the buildings on its website as “a landmark in the historic city of Istanbul” and it is the organization’s first and only office and residential tower in Europe, with offices, apartments and upscale shops. The Washington Post has reported that the organization was paid up to $10 million to put the Trump name on the two buildings.

Erdogan attended the opening ceremony of the office and residential towers in 2012 and Ivanka Trump tweeted a message thanking him for attending, although a photo of Erdogan at the ribbon cutting has been removed from his Facebook page.)

Erdogan had tried unsuccessfully to get the Obama administration to drop the case, but now appeared to be having better luck. Erdogan told reporters that Trump had assured him he would take care of the matter. It was not until Trump and Erdogan clashed over Syria last October that the U.S. charged the bank, but the charges did not include any individuals. Barr fired Berman this summer.

If Trump loses the election -- and at this stage anything is possible for Trump and/or his allies (think SCOTUS) to interfere in the results right up to the end -- what Trump does next is unpredictable. However, assuming that he really cannot stop the tide against him, the last 2 1/2 months of his presidency can be even more chaotic. Trump has no moral compass. He is a malignant narcissist, and whatever he can't have he'll just as soon destroy. And that will include erasing hard drives, waving NDAs at his staff reminding them that he can still sue, and petty things like stealing White House fixtures and furniture. Maybe even revealing CIA secrets. He will feel he can do "what ever he wants" and Trump will seek retribution against anyone who he perceives as his enemy. Dangerous times ahead.

I don't think Barr will stand in his way. He is in it to the end.

Oh and Trump will pardon all his "friends" as well as himself and Barr.

I just wonder what the GOP will do; likely nothing at all. I'm afraid now that the "religious bitch" is appointed that Jesus will turnover in his grave on Mars and may sent the bitch to "hell" as soon as she "clears" Trump, because of the "loyalist" oath she took. Yes people this is not the end of all the "mess"; you (the people) elected this "crook" and still may elect him again via lots of corruption and voter repression in the voting. I wonder if the guy even can last an next 4 years. What about all his debts etc.and the crooks around him? Also don't forget our own countries "debt" of 3.3 trillion.

It will become an "total" dictatorship for sure; all the signs are there. Voting only will not change this country; drastic measures are needed to prevent to get another Trump like idiot elected here; I wrote a million times about what to do, but likely for deaf ears.
