The stock market has lost all its gains right now for the year; even in the beginning of the year the Dow stood at about 26300, it is now about 23600. All of this means that companies will have less capital to do things, so that will mean a slow down or even an recession. The consequences will be serious. Trillions of capital left the market; and Trump fights over a "wall".

What is wrong with this picture? The biggest mistake is appointing "freedom caucus" assholes, like Navarro, Meadows, Jordan, Ross, Mulvany etc. who have the wrong view about the world as well trade and its effect on the economy if you tinker with it via tariffs. The notion of "America first" as an "bully" in an porcelain shop, does have an negative effect on the economy as has been proven now.

All of this shows that the "baby" we have chosen to be our leader has no clue about the world, let alone "trade" or the real interaction of the requirement of having "experienced" "world educated" people who deal daily in international trade and know the complexity of it all.

All of this incompetence will be detrimental to the future of this "banana republic island".

Like I've said so many times; the "chaos" right now is self inflicted due to not having proper laws/rules/ discipline/education/ nor proper vetting of our leaders/ qualifications/as well not limiting the powers of our leaders ( should be "black and white" written in our "laws" and "operating manuals" which are missing).

For instance make it mandatory that the tax returns are shown, that they have the proper education for the job, especially for the higher functions university or higher, international experience, world knowledge, knows the laws here inside out, studied economy, have an stringent background check, know the history of the world , have stamina and manners, know what real is and what is fake, have learned about other cultures and forms of government, have common sense, etc etc. I could go on and on. Just going to church should not be an requirement but should be viewed as being an negative.

Yeah, they call it economic uncertainty, isn't that the same cliché they used on Obama for the reason the economy was recovering too slowly? Some people are predicting a recession (again).

If a dog jumps into a pond.... It gets wet. If Republicans give a huge tax break a recession typically follows. Republicans get elected promising tax cuts. Democratic followers clean up the mess.

Yesterday the crash continued; the Dow went down with another 653 points, which means that we dropped down now from about 26500 to 21800. The consequences will be enormous for this country. It was compared to the situation as in 1929/1930. In such situation you would need "professional" educated "leaders", which we don't have. As long as the "baby" stays, then all we get is dirty diapers; I guess McConnell and his corrupt buddies never changed an diaper in their life. The Trump mafia prevails and will get only more nasty in the New Year.

Wake up America; I hope the "repair crews" start on January 3rd and get an huge dumpster to get rid of the "dirt"

Dock, most people here have no clue yet what its effect will be. Especially if Trump and his "uneducated" advisers continue on this path. This Navaro guy is an real "traitor" and should be removed; he is the one who is totally in bed with the total ignorant "destruction" group of Miller, Meadows, Jordan, Ross, Paul (the Freedom Caucus) who is bringing this country into an Venezuela situation. But the total "uneducated" Trump listens only to those "traitors" because they are "loyal".

Hopefully the Dem's will take action in January and be able to curtail the damage done by these assholes.

    Wikipedia: Peter Navarro

Yes Navarro is another anti-trade deals, pro-tariff economist of the same mold as Wilber Ross. I don't know much about him other than when I see him briefly in the news. His Wikipedia bio is typical of those in the Trump administration who toe the Trump line on trade...or maybe it's Navarro and Ross who are feeding the Donald his line.

In any case, trade is an easy target to garner votes by politicians who tend to ignore all the other factors contributing to a loss of American manufacturing. Blaming unfair trade and not automation or changing market conditions resonates with factory workers.

Schmidt, that is what you get if you only lived on this "island"; education about how the rest of the world works and trades is essential. You can't be an isolationist any more. Everything nowadays is integrated, especially in the tech world of today.

Just look at BMW; it is an German car manufacturer; it builds lots of their cars here, with lots of imported pieces as well steel/aluminum from other countries and exports quite a few of these to China. So how do you apply "tariffs"? How about the "navigation" systems in US built cars; I guess also assembled in China. Sorry Navarro and Ross nor Meadows have any clue whatsoever.

In the meantime the stock market crashes even further; it is now lower than ever; where is the end? I guess not so long Trump is not impeached or has resigned.
