On December 11, Google CEO Sundar Pichai explained to Congress why typing the word “idiot” into a search engine would bring up pictures of Trump:

When a McClatchy reporter did an image search for “idiot” on Tuesday on Google’s search engine, after the question was asked, all but four of the top 17 pictures that came up included the president or his two adult sons. Some of those images were associated with articles about the fact that Googling “idiot” brings up pictures of the president. The first photo that appeared wasn’t actually Trump — it was a Belgian painter’s work called “The Idiot,” which appears on the Wikipedia page for the word “idiot.”
I didn’t get the same results shown in the article above when I typed “idiot” into the Google search bar, so I went to Bing (which is actually owned my Microsoft). The page pulled up 89 images, and 13 up them were pictures of Trump:

Here is one of them.

The 6 most valuable companies in the world are all technology companies. Alphabet (which owns Google) has a market valuation of $766 billion, and Microsoft, founded by Bill Gates) has a market capitalization of $750 billion. Although all of them are remarkable success stories, Google (in particular) is simply astonishing.

Google is only 20 years old, and one of the founders is a Russian immigrant named Sergey Brin. Today, Google’s parent (Alphabet) owns 17 companies, most of which have one or more subsidiaries.

Google itself actually owns over 200 companies. Although not all of its purchases have been successful, YouTube may well have been its most successful. Purchased in 2006 for $1.65 billion, it is now worth more than $70 billion, which is more than the valuation of 85 percent of the companies in the S & P 500. YouTube itself was founded by 3 young guys in February of 2005, and sold to Google in November of 2006, making its founders overnight millionaires. At the time of the companies founding, all of them were still in their 20’s, and 2 of the 3 founders were immigrants.

In that same time period, the numbers of jobs in coal mining has shrunk by almost 50%, and employment in coal is now 90% less than it was in coal’s peak year of 1920.

Early in Trump’s presidency, there was hope that he would be doing some of the right things to improve the economy, but the honeymoon ended quickly. Due his many failures as a leader, many members of his economic council resigned in protest. By August, 11 members had resigned, and 8 of those were in one week. On August 16, 2017, Trump announced that he was disbanding both the Manufacturing Council and the Strategy and Policy Forum.

Trump wants to bring back manufacturing jobs, but his tariffs led to GM laying off thousands of workers. He wants to bring back coal jobs, when the majority of the power plants in the country have switched to cheaper natural gas.
He also wants to limit immigrants, which would make it harder for people like Sergey Brin and Sundar Pachai to come into the country.
He really IS an idiot!

Incidentally, Dockadams posted this video yesterday, and it highlights Trump's key problem, which is the fact that he keeps living in the past, and "making America great again" is a prime example of that. In Archie Bunker's opinion, "we need men like Herbert Hoover again".

As the video points out, the types of jobs that America will be employed in is changing rapidly - and that has always been the case. In the first quarter of 2018, Google had 85,050 employees, which is more people than are employed in the coal industry in the entire nation.
In 2017, the total number of GM employees was 180,000, a fraction of the number of employees it had when it was the largest employer in the world. Today, Walmart is the largest employer in the entire world, with 2.2 million workers.

Trump's tariffs, of course, are a disaster, since they will cost the economy 146,000 jobs:
