Billions suffer because a few choose to make money by depriving billions of a living wage. If the 1.2 quadrillion dollars stagnated in pure gambling derivatives were invested in producing goods and services there would be world wide prosperity. Why not regulate derivatives to a very narrow direct benefit tied only to perishable assets subject to uncontrollable natural conditions.
Almost half the world — over three billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day.
At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day.
According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty.
The derivatives market is, in a word, gigantic – often estimated at more that $1.2 quadrillion on the high end.
