I realize I am off topic (Kavan) but CNN just reported Michael making landfall with 155 mph winds.

Insane intensity. Best hopes for all in the path.

It was headed straight here until 4 hours ago at cat 4. Started to question the predicted NE shift by the cold front but it held true. I had just finished a boat that had been kept here for 15 years and moved to Mexico Beach. Mexico Beach supposedly got hit hard.

None of us are optimistic that Kavanaugh will do a good job, or even that he will not be forced out, but Linda Greenhouse published an article this morning, about another sketchy Supreme Court pick, that should give us a little comfort:

    From the "urban dictionary" :

    Devils Triangle

A threesome with 1 woman and 2 men. It is important to remember that straight mendo not make eye contact while in the act. Doing so will question their sexuality.

Larry: Did you hear that Eric and Brian were in a Devils Triangle with Sarah last night?

Like Trump said nothing matters because we won.

Now that it's over, Kavanagh's hearings could only be described as "unforgettable":

Guy, I guess people here forgot how this position got filled. Trump bribed the son of Judge Kennedy, who works for Deutsche Bank to have his Dad retire. Mueller should investigate that as well, because it is so obvious. I guess the Congress had the blinders on or was bribed as well to keep their mouth shut. Deutsche Bank did all the Russia related money laundering also via Trump. Wake up America!

Trump praised Kennedy to help him retire:

"That was an overstatement. Justice Kennedy is reviled by many of Mr. Trump’s supporters for voting to uphold access to abortion, limit the death penalty and expand gay rights. Conservatives have called for his impeachment. James C. Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family, once called Justice Kennedy “the most dangerous man in America.”"

Chet, Thanks. Your "attachment" clearly did not mention that "behind" all of this, certainly "pressure" and "money" were used to get this guy to retire at that particular moment. The timing was absolutely right on. Thus something was done to motivate the Judge to retire at that exact time. Certainly Mueller should investigate that as well or some other legal person in the Government. But until now I've not seen any investigation.

Yes Chet, why is there no investigation?

Kavanagh was confirmed by a Senate vote of 50-48. What nearly killed his nomination were credible stories of sexual improprieties more than 30 years before. Trump, of course, was a lot worse, since 22 women have accused him of inappropriate sexual contact over the years.

Neither Kavanagh or Trump have suffered any legal consequences for their crimes.

In contrast, a beloved song writer is still bring punished for an indiscretion that happened 50 years ago.

Peter Yarrow, of Peter, Paul, and Mary fame, recently had a performance cancelled due to an incident in 1969. Sometime during that year, two minor sisters knocked on his hotel room door in order to get his autograph. When he answered the door, he was naked. There is no indication that any sexual activity took place.

Mr. Yarrow was charged with taking indecent liberties with a minor, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three months in jail. President Jimmy Carter pardoned him in 1981.

Since Yarrow is a classy guy, he did not criticize the organizers of the recent event for excluding him.

My own opinion, though, mirrors the thoughts of a few people in Norwich, New York (where the concert is being held):

“This is an absurd decision,” one person said in a comment on the post. “His contributions to society have far outweighed a 49-year-old indiscretion.”

Another added, “Norwich is being robbed of having a cultural treasure in our town.”
