The US Senate Hearing about approving Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court is nothing more than a farcical joke and the reason those Republicans believe they can get away with such obnoxious, irresponsible behavior is because they know most Americans do not vote and don't give a damn what their government is doing and that is why America is no longer a Republic but instead a corrupt Oligarchy run by Robber Baron Stooges, of course, the corrupt corporate mass news media won't inform the people about what is really going on in that Oligarchy since that corrupt corporate mass news medias owners are benefiting from all that corruption.

While the Republicans are making sure most of Kavanaugh's legal record never sees the light of day it is a fact that Kavanaugh was involved with those two war criminals Bush and Cheney in their plans to torture other human beings and Kavanaugh's known record regarding women's rights reveals how much he hates women and also how much he loves the NRA which is the most murderous, deadly terrorist organization in America.

Any US Senator who votes for Kavanaugh for the US Supreme Court reveals how much that US Senator hates the very idea of what a Republic should stand for, hates women, all those victims of gun violence and supports those who think torture is a great idea and any America who votes for such US Senators has no idea what a Republic should be or the values it should stand for and these are the very people that have allowed our country to become an Oligarchy.

Republicans believe they can get away with it because they do get away with it.

Maybe Democrats should start taking a page from their playbook and recognize that voting for major party candidates - not no-name third party candidates who have zero chance of winning - puts you in power. And those in power get to write the rules.

Bernie or busters haven't figured that one out yet.

At this point, it seems likely that Kavanagh will get approved for a seat on the Supreme court. Oddly enough, that may work to the advantage of the Democrats if they can get out the right message.

Kavanagh is the least popular nominee for the Supreme court in a long time, so if Democrats running for office can point out a few of his faults, and they ask their Republican candidates WHY they voted for him, when they shouldn't have, it may change the mind of at least some votes.

If anyone watched this total "circus" then it is clear that this guy was coached all the way by the GOP. He even lied about four times; if you have then an Grassly who acts as an Trump sent "bully" then you know the result. Trump will get now an "loyal" supporter in the court. Thus no "advantage" at all for the Democrats. All of this is an huge "scam". Solution: put "time limits" of max 4 years on judges in this court. But yeah we love to stick to antique rules; the ship will sink because of it. Appointments for "life" are ridiculous.

I hope that with the latest revelations ( sexual conduct) of Kavanaugh, the Dem's are going to fight and don't take all the B.S. and obstruction from the GOP anymore. Grassley should be put in one of those cages as used for the poor refugee kids and waterboarded. This confirmation is ridiculous. I've never seen anything like it.

Sexual assault allegations from 35 years ago? Statute of limitations? The GOP is going to have a field day with this one, as far as credibility goes. We already know we have a groper in chief leading the country, nothing has come of that either. The groper in chief has already mocked the #MeToo movement. They'll sweep this one under the rug too, IMHO.

Don't forget the nomination and "vetting" was totally "rigged"; he lied under oath and refused and evade and answer most questions.

You guys are way to skeptical about the system of justice and check & balances. The last few posts sound more like Trump supporters claiming there is a Deep State of Democrats that control every aspect of our lives, except you're saying there is Deep State of Republicans that control everything. Its a bit like reading MAD magazine SPY vs SPY, or watching old episodes of MASH where the two US spying agencies are spying on each other more than the enemies.... It becomes comical when the extreme sides are just a mirror refection of each other. Extreme Right = Extreme Left; paranoia and methods are the same, only different in their ideology.

He should not be confirmed. Citizens should contact whomever can ensure he doesn't proceed. This started as bad politics but is basically a bad man who has lied and so much more. Standards are very important. Stand up and make your voices be heard. We can do far better.

First all our representatives should not only protest only ,but should demand to see all the "records" which the GOP refused to show; furthermore they should demand to "react" on the 4 lies under oath as well the none answers he gave on an lot of subjects, like this is an "hypothetical" question etc. I've never in my life seen such an "pre-cooked" inquiry.

Yeah, the GOP members are saying this delay tactic is political. But when they did it for Obama's SCOTUS nominee, it wasn't.

This isn't very comical at all, it's a travesty of what is right and what is wrong. Selecting and approving of a SCOTUS nominee should be taken seriously.

Kavanaugh says it never happened (sexual assault)

Perhaps he was too drunk or stoned to remember what he did?

"Kavanaugh held her down, and that he attempted to force himself on her. She claimed in the letter that Kavanaugh and a classmate of his, both of whom had been drinking, turned up music that was playing in the room to conceal the sound of her protests, and that Kavanaugh covered her mouth with his hand."

I suspect he is going to take Trump's advice: "Always deny, and turn the tables on her. Make her look like a fucking lying slut that had sex with 1000s of guys before she turned 18"

It won't be enough for her to say the rape happened. If this becomes nothing more than "She said" vs "He said" then he wins by default. Like in baseball, tie goes to runner.

    However,

If she told people about the rape 30 years ago and\or has some medical reports stating she was raped, then it will weigh heavy in her favor.

    Bad News for her:

As I write this, her entire life is being investigated by many sources, and whatever dirt can found, it will be made public. If she was sexually active at the time, you can bet questions like:

"How many sex partners had you had before turning 18. What are their names?"
"It is true you have had abortion(s)?"
"Is it true you were drunk at the party and were offering sex to several different guys?"
"It it true you had sex at that party with other guys after the alleged encounter with Judge Kavanaugh?"

Democrats, one being Joe Biden basically dismissed Anita Hill's claims of sexual assault by Clarence Thomas during his hearings too. In fact, some democrats (11) did almost everything to discredit her claims and voted to confirm Thomas, while 46 democrats voted not to confirm along with 2 republicans. Joe Biden was quite aggressive during questioning Hill.

    washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/...

"Hill and others have said Biden was no innocent bystander during the hearing, which featured cringe-inducing exchanges about breast sizes, pornography and Thomas’s anatomy. At one point, Biden questioned Hill about how she felt during an alleged sexually charged moment, asking, “Were you uncomfortable, were you embarrassed, did it not concern you?”

    History is repeating itself.

Let's hope what she has to say is 110% true. If so much as 1% is fabricated on her part, it makes all rape victims be perceived as liars by default, and you can bet trump's tweets will stink worse that any farts you've smelled.

Trump Victory Tweet: "She is a lying hore who was so drunk at that party she can't remember who she had sex with. How many? 2 guys? 5 guys? She probably had sex with one of the black football players or the entire team"
