Between Woodward's book and this morning's op-ed, Trump is almost certainly going to go from being completely wacky all the way to in dire need of a straitjacket and handcuffs. When that happens, the only possible remedy would be for the majority of his cabinet to invoke the 25th amendment and remove him from office IMMEDIATELY. That would make Pence (the most likely author of the op-ed) the president, which would only be a slight improvement, but would at least do a lot to prevent WWIII from breaking out.
The existence of the Woodward book and this morning's op-ed should be extremely damaging for the Republican Party during the mid-term elections, and Brett Kavanagh's confirmation process should also make a lot more people aware of the fact that the Republic Party is completely f****d up.
Unlikely Pence is the anonymous author behind the OP-ed, but he may have known about it in advance and knows who wrote it. Pence is more the type to be praising and encouraging trump's bad behavior because worse trump becomes, the sooner Pence become President. Basically Pence is encouraging trump to run as fast as he can off the 10,000ft cliff to his poltical death.
Trump: "Do you think it would be helpful if I called Obama a N*gger at my next rally?"
Pence: "That is a wonderful idea, Mr President, maybe even say it several times."
