On two different areas we got some good news today. Manafort guilty on 8 of 18. He's back in court in September for new charges. Expected others to suggest it was a positive item. Jurors were said to have been confused by the complexities of some of the charges. Ultimately he could spend much time in prison. Hopefully justice will be served.

Trump IS retarded, saying a guy is a good man, when in reality, Manafort is a slippery, slimy, creepy crook, birds of a feather.....the chickens are coming home to roost.

Paul Manafort is supposed to make a plea deal instead of facing the next trial. Jury selection was to start Monday. It's not yet known if he's merely pleading guilty to save the expense of another trial or if he may have agreed to do or say more. An announcement will be made on Friday.

He is said to be cooperating. I just don't trust him. Hopefully in exchange, we get some poignant information. Time will tell.

It was reported that a delay in getting this deal was that Manafort wanted to get protection for his family. Hopefully we can proceed.

The imminent danger is too big to antagonize. Will fear of Trump reprisals pave the way to a dictatorship or will the country support truth and principles ?

A good history of Manafort: theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/0...

The big surprise today was that as part of the plea deal, Manafort is required to spill his guts about everything the FBI asks him about. My speculation is that they have already got him on tape providing information about all the big unanswered questions so that trump can not step in and pardon Manafort to keep him quiet. If the FBI already has most, or all, that information and documents from Manafort, a pardon by trump can't take away evidence already collected by the FBI.

Bottomline, if Manafort has one or more smoking guns, then he gave it to the FBI before he went into court today to plead guilty. Historically, Manafort will likely become the #2 key figure that took down trump, trump being the #1 person most instrumental in his downfall; a pathological liar in the first degree.

I hope Manafort tells the Mueller investigation that trump promised to Manafort if Manafort remained loyal to trump.

    Reply to bold text.

So this guy goes to his doctor's appointment, the doc checks him over and says you're good to go, do you have any questions? The guy says no.

Two weeks later, the guy dies from a heart attack. His family goes to the doctor and asks, did he have a heart condition? The doc says yes, he did. The family says well why didn't you tell him? The doc says, he didn't ask.

Manafort might be required, but that doesn't mean he will. It's the questions the FBI or Mueller's team don't ask or forget to ask would be the problem, Manafort won't tell authorities any more than he feels they need to know.

Also, remember this, Trump is standing by his man, which means if he's charged with federal crime, he will most assuredly receive a pardon, but a state can still charge him with a crime which is not subject to presidential pardon, according to ABC's legal expert, Dan Abrams.

Dockadams, per your scenario, that is exactly why I believe Manafort has already answered the big questions before the pleading guilty and accepting the plea deal. In other words, Mueller wouldn't have agreed to the deal until after he got the information he was seeking. IMO, they likely reached the deal 1-2 weeks ago, and Manafort has been spilling his guts about what he knows since then, and it was only after Mueller Team were done interviewing him that they all went into court together.

I'll agree that Mueller & his team and FBI probably know the answers to the questions they'll ask Manafort beforehand, but it would be the unknown or not thought of questions that might not be asked which would be a problem for the investigative team. A question like "did Mr. Trump know you were trying to get dirt on Mrs. Clinton or did he order you to get dirt on her"? Only Manafort could possibly answer that question, maybe along with Cohen, Poppadopolous and people who were in the Trump tower meeting who haven't really flipped or are inaccessible. An eavesdropping device planted before that meeting would be revealing. Or someone who recorded the event with a smartphone would help Mueller's team too.

How can Republicans vote comfortably in November ? There are cracks in their foundation. It continues to deepen.

Dockadams, I am not suggesting Mueller teams knows from other others what has happened. I am saying they have already asked and received answers from Manafort already. There are no more risks about what Manafort might say going forward because they got the answers from Manafort BEFORE Manafort plead guilty in court. The plea deal simply covers what Manafort has already confessed to, and forces him to tell the truth going forward. Other than smaller details, Mueller team has already asked him the the big questions and Manafort has provided answers. All happened before the plea deal was officially entered into court records.
