I just got done watching the press conference following the Trump -- Putin summit. This was a big victory for Putin. Trump refused to say that Russia interfered in the US 2016 election. As per the Huffington Post on Russia meddling:

“I hold both countries responsible,” Trump said during a news conference Monday when asked whether he held Russia accountable for anything in particular.

“I think the United States has been foolish,” he said following a bilateral summit between the two leaders in Helsinki, Finland. “I think we’ve all been foolish. I think we’re all to blame.”

He repeated a phrase he often uses ? that there has been no collusion ? and said accusations of collusion continue to hurt relations between the two countries.

“My people came to me they said they think it’s Russia,” Trump said in reference to hacking in the U.S. election. “President Putin just said it’s not Russia.”

Trump said he has reason to believe Putin but also said it’s important to find the server that the FBI took from the Democratic National Committee.

    ================================

    Trump was pathetic.

Washington Post: Full text: President Trump’s news conference with Russia’s Putin

The WP has the full text of the press conference. Read and cringe. The WP is still adding to it the questions towards the end. So not yet complete...

I'll simply quote former CIA Director John Brennan:

Donald Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of “high crimes & misdemeanors.” It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???

    Reading won't do it justice.

Here's the full video of the press conference...if anyone is actually able to stomach it.

While flipping through news stories on the www, Perez I'd read called Trump Putin's poodle, I'd say that's pretty accurate.

I will add John McCain's statement of Trump's performance at the summit. It speaks for itself:

“Today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory. The damage inflicted by President Trump’s naiveté, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate. But it is clear that the summit in Helsinki was a tragic mistake.

“President Trump proved not only unable, but unwilling to stand up to Putin. He and Putin seemed to be speaking from the same script as the president made a conscious choice to defend a tyrant against the fair questions of a free press, and to grant Putin an uncontested platform to spew propaganda and lies to the world.

“It is tempting to describe the press conference as a pathetic rout – as an illustration of the perils of under-preparation and inexperience. But these were not the errant tweets of a novice politician. These were the deliberate choices of a president who seems determined to realize his delusions of a warm relationship with Putin’s regime without any regard for the true nature of his rule, his violent disregard for the sovereignty of his neighbors, his complicity in the slaughter of the Syrian people, his violation of international treaties, and his assault on democratic institutions throughout the world.

“Coming close on the heels of President Trump’s bombastic and erratic conduct towards our closest friends and allies in Brussels and Britain, today’s press conference marks a recent low point in the history of the American Presidency. That the president was attended in Helsinki by a team of competent and patriotic advisors makes his blunders and capitulations all the more painful and inexplicable.

“No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant. Not only did President Trump fail to speak the truth about an adversary; but speaking for America to the world, our president failed to defend all that makes us who we are—a republic of free people dedicated to the cause of liberty at home and abroad. American presidents must be the champions of that cause if it is to succeed. Americans are waiting and hoping for President Trump to embrace that sacred responsibility. One can only hope they are not waiting totally in vain.”

-- Senator John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee

Schmidt, I predicted all of this; How long does it take for Americans to see the picture? It started already way back, I wrote about it often. But no body wanted to believe me. How often I've said that the "system" here is the cause of it? Just to summarize: Scolds the Australian Premier, Scolds Trudeau, Scolds the Mexican President, Scolds Merkel, Scolds the EU and NATO, Scolds May, Scolds Pocahontas, Scolds Pelosi, Schumer, and all Democrats, Scolds Mueller, Rosenstein, the whole of the FBI, CIA etc. Scolds an Father of who's son was killed in combat, rips little children from their parents, introduces tariffs to destabilize world trade, cancelled the Paris climate accord, cancelled the Iran Nuke accord, bypasses the WTO, cancels NAFTA, cancelled the TPP, No "deal" with N.Korea at all (total fake) I could go on and on, but no one here has the guts to get rid of this idiot. What an awful stupid country without proper laws for their leaders..

Read this that will clarify things:

Today was epically bad and about 5 billion people noticed. He will play spin doctor and try to suggest something other than what was seen and heard. Shame Saturday Night live is on break because it could be hilarious. Curious what follows. Maybe some overdue accountability is going to be expected.

Today Putin receive the best BJ of his life, and it was given to him by DT. Putin didn't even have to ask, trump offered it to him as sign of how trump feels about Putin.

What ever said\done behind closed doors would make nearly everyone want to puke.

DT: “I hold both countries responsible,”

    lets put that into perspective.

    • Rape victims need to accept that they are also responsible for being raped because rape takes two people.
    • If someone breaks into your house, you have to take responsibility that its your fault that you were at work when it happened.

    trump is fucking nuts!

No record of the meeting other than it occurred.

This really bothers me that any elected official can have official One-On-One meetings without it being recorded. Recorded does not mean it becomes public information. If a One-on-One meeting needs to be classified, fine, but it also means high level people can review it, and hold the official (ie President) accountable. If there is no record, it is a blank check to say\do anything, and be able to deny anything, including what other other person claims occurred during the meeting.

trump is pathological and moving forward he can claim anything happened during their two hour meeting. In trump's case, it is akin to Nixon's Missing 18 minutes. He is free to write history to his benefit, whether it be tomorrow, next week, next year, or during interview with the Mueller investigation. He could totally flip on himself and later say "Putin admitted he interfered, and said he has all of HC emails which proves she sold classified military information for millions". It's a two hour window of time that he can add to or change his story depending on what serves him best. Its like a chapter in the book that can be enhanced at anytime, and could change to support conspiracy theories that have no evidence, but his 2 hour window can be used by him to create information the feeds into a conspiracy theory. Such as "I've never said this until now, but during my meeting with Putin, he told me.... XXX ...which proves ... YYY". And it flips everything because millions of US voters are blind to the fact that trump is pathological and a sociopath. trump literally could give Alaska back to Russia, and his base would stand behind him 100%.

WWJD, I said the same just before; but yeah stupidity reigns. After a couple of weeks everything is forgotten and new even more crazy things will happen. I guess it must be "growing pains" of the ignorance on this "island" with its broken or non laws for our leaders. I already predicted this before 2016 that this country is moving "downhill". I only hope the "sled" stops before it hits the "cliff". Welcome to la la land.

The people that should be most offended by Trump are his Nationalist Isolationist followers . Right now Trump has no logical support. Let's see if his followers are strong nationalists.

Putin made a super cool out of Trump when the reporter asked Putin if he wanted Trump to be elected and Putin said yes. That was after Trump surmised that Russia had no reason to effect the outcome of the election. Putin saying he wanted Trump to win is reason enough to swing the election.

BTW I have read multiple sources that said Putin could speak English. That supports private agenda for the Trump and Putin only meeting.

Putin needs to register Trump as an agent getting special treatment for Russia ...

Trump currently (July 9-15) has an overall approval rating of 43 percent and 90 percent amongst Republicans.

Gallup: Presidential Approval Ratings -- Donald Trump

Maybe it will go down slightly in the next poll, but not by much.
