GE booted from DOW. Its not progress but a destruction of society. Money needs to start circulating.

"David Blitzer, chairman of S&P's index committee, noted that industrial companies like GE are no longer as prominent in the American economy. Banks, healthcare, tech and consumer companies play a larger role today."

Reality 148 billion dollars is equal to 148 thousand million dollar houses Or 10 fully paid college educations.

It does not matter; It is an "game" of the "rich" and hedge funds. GE aircraft engines are the best in the world, but "hedge funds don't care. Companies like Netflix who produce nothing get rewarded in the stock market; that is America. Just wait till the short sellers get hold of it.

GE is into all kinds of stuff, even the healthcare instruments business. Years ago I was leased to a expedited transport company which shuttled GE diagnostic medical equipment all around the states to hospitals, machines like CAT Scan equipment, MRI equipment, and other things for the medical industry. Granted GE stock took a hit, but I'm thinking they're going to be around for quite some time.

Who cares? The DOW isn't a very good predictor of a company's success or failure and if "what's past is prologue" then GE will be just fine as a company.

Has anyone heard of AT&T? They were booted from the DOW and now they own DirectTV and are taking over Time Warner.

I just don't see the "destruction of society" that you're constantly ranting and raving about. Do we have problems? Yes! What country with 330 million inhabitants doesn't? But this whole "the sky is falling!!!!!!" nonsense you constantly spew is a bit much.

Money is circulating in the United States. That's why, even with a Neanderthal President, people still want to come here. Just imagine what we could be getting done if Bernie or busters didn't thwart the will of the American people in 2016.

In recent days, GE has divested itself of the healthcare business, and it's stock rose. So, I don't believe GE's days are numbered, they're a very strong business. The sky won't fall because a business or businesses are booted from the DOW.

Guess what, Philips (a Dutch company) is taking over in "medical equipment"; may be Trump wants to put tariffs on that so people can pay more for their "scan" here. What an dumb country with an awful dumb Nazi leader.

40 years of half the population with no gain and even loss of wages. Low and no incomes foster crime and violence. The status quo Democrats are accepting as normal life that poor people can't afford comprehensive medical care, are being priced out of college education and being sacrificed to progress as expendable. They probably see cutting spending as a wise move in view of the growing national debt. Racial violence is increasing . Nobody understands what the DOW means yet it is all cheers and jubilation when the DOW goes up. Why did Trump raise Tariffs and give a tax cut instead promoting investing in jobs. The DNC should immediately align with the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and walk away from conservative money ideals. Money needs to be spent. The criticism "tax and spend Democrats" should be paraded as the answer to prosperity that it is.

Trump's travel ban will hurt people in the healthcare sector, reported by MSM. I cannot see how his travel ban will help national security.

When jetliners were rammed into buildings and a Pennsylvania field on 9/11, those people who hijacked those planes came into the US through Canada.

Also, people living in fear in the US are behind all of this anti immigrant, anti Muslim rhetoric. Normal people aren't fearing anything. Since he got SCOTUS to agree with him on the national security excuse, he can now ban any demographic from entering the US simply by citing his national security cliché. Which means that people coming from our southern border can now be called a national security risk. We'll be living on an island in no time with his isolationist policies.

Dock this has been an "island" already since we killed the Indians. Before WWI the US barely meant anything in the world; and did not meddle in it. Then came WWI where the US barely took part in; since WWII because of "winning" that war from the Germans and the Japanese; it changed The "cowboys" here thought all of a sudden that they, because of it, could dictate the world, which led to all the wars and trillions of military waste; let alone lives. The "island" carries on, but is in an downfall because the rest of the world is bypassing the US in an lot of area's right now. Like China, which has got its act together. Looking at Europe since WWII, they are standing on their own "legs" right now and don't need the US; having their own aircraft industries; military industries, export lots of goods and services; export food and wine, clothing etc., you name it; it does not need any American made goods at all. Yes the Trump doctrine will lead to an isolationist country, just like before WWI. Also the way this government works with total incompetent people will accelerate its downfall.

Why do you always highlight sentence fragments? Are you incapable of responding to an entire sentence, paragraph, or post that gives far more context than the sentence fragment you attacked?

I think things are getting worse Dutch, I watch evening news nearly everyday, and soy bean farmers are beginning to squawk as are manufacturing companies. Soy bean prices taking a hit and costs associated with metal are on the rise. A camper manufacturing company in Indiana said the cost of aluminum rose so sharply, they might need to lay off workers and raise prices of campers. Those are probably the areas where the Trump voters reside.

Your last sentence says it all.

Other countries aren't stupid and are moving to inflict maximum pain on companies that have factories in areas that overwhelmingly voted for Donald. Let's see how strong his coalition really is once his supporters are out of a job.

My worry is that Donald's die hard supporters will dig in even deeper and give our Neanderthal President cover to walk our entire economy over the cliff so he can show them who the real boss is.

Bernie or busters should have thought about the side effects of having a narcissistic sociopath in charge of our Federal government before they decided to overrule the will of the American people.

Thanks Dock and Jared; forget Bernie please; there are plenty of other things/elements which are screwed up in this country to cause all of this, as I wrote about it more than 5 years ago.
