But you are correct . And we never should have went down this path. Because now there are hundreds of racetracks all across the country . And the habour the crime that now infects so much of our country.
I became embroiled into an argument on another website, whose moderator gave me admonishment, and kicked me off because I contended that if you feed and house animals, (horses) and care for them, then they are or become pets. Unfortunately, the person I argued with and the mod viewed animals as just animals, and nothing more. The argument stemmed from old laws protecting horses from being slaughtered for meat which lasted a little while, was circumvented in some states, making it legal for horses to be used for consumption.
Yes, I am a meat eater. When asked if I were a meat eater, (answered yes) I was called a hypocrite. Well, maybe I am, but I see no need to make animals suffer. A man takes a horse on a race track, the horse falls and breaks a leg, then the animal has served it's purpose to a human being. Is that okay?
People also can face animal cruelty charges too, there are laws in some states which protect animals. When I lived in New Mexico, they'd recently passed laws banning cock fighting. Some states' laws are stricter than others, some even hand out jail or prison time, depending on the severity of abuses.
I wonder what might happen to Justify if the animal became ill or injured? Would the horse be treated with respect and dignity and given a proper burial?
