Connie, they don't want to fire Pruitt, which means they only love money and lobbyists, so corporations can now dump all their shit into our rivers and lakes. Yes this country will become backwards related to the environment; also Trump is hesitating to get back into the Paris agreement, even if Macron warned him about consequences for the globe. Yes after a while we all get cancer; but who cares?

Trump seems intent on reversing virtually everything that Obama did. Apart from trying to take health care away from millions of people, another one of his "stupid human tricks" is the assault on the environment.

The New York Times this morning listed more than 80 environmental rules that are on their way out. 49 have already been completed, and 35 more are on their way out.

During the three presidential debates in 2016, only a total of five minutes and 27 seconds was spent on climate change. If the debate moderators were smart, they would absolutely HAMMER Trump on what he is trying to do to the environment. Even the dumbest redneck would agree that it is CRITICAL that we have clean air and water.

Fortunately for all of us, the state of California and 17 major automakers are fighting Trump's rollback of auto emissions standards:

You should know by now that Trump only cares about himself and certainly not the environment, let alone its effect on human health and nature. As long as he gets what he wants and can live in his gold plated places and pollutes the air with the nonsense he spews out and the maid tosses out his garbage every day, as well has no opposition and everyone bows to him, then he's happy. As well as he can destroy everything Obama did , then he feels superior.

According to him there is no global warming or climate change, it is all an hoax, That is what you get if you elect an President who only knows how to spent (and steal) money, but refuses to learn something else, other than on how the "mob" works.

Mike Pence met with Jake Tapper on Sunday, and tried to tell Tapper that we had the cleanest air and water in the world.

    Tapper laughed in his face.

For the record, we aren't even in the top 20. Most of the countries at the top are the Nordic countries, but a few EU countries also made the list.

I guess Pence never heard of "Flint" neither of the beaches in FL with "red tide" and dead Manatee's. But yeah, you don't hear that in church of course.

Even Trump understands how bad it is here.

In the book "Let Trump be Trump" (by Corey Lewondowski) , he is quoted as saying:

"There was a time that cars were made in Flint, and you couldn't drink the water in Mexico.

Today, cars and made in Mexico, and you can't drink the water in Flint"

Unlike most GOP lawmakers, the auto manufacturers in this country actually have a spine.

The White House, blindsided by a pact between California and four automakers to oppose President Trump’s auto emissions rollbacks, has mounted an effort to prevent any more from joining the other side.

Toyota, Fiat Chrysler and General Motors were all summoned by a senior Trump adviser to a White House meeting last month where he pressed them to stand by the president’s own initiative, according to four people familiar with the talks.

Mr. Trump, described by three people as “enraged” by California’s deal, has also demanded that his staffers step up the pace to complete his plan

But even as the White House was working to do this, it was losing ground. Yet another company, Mercedes-Benz, is preparing to join the California agreement, according to two people familiar with the German company’s plans.

Together, the six manufacturers who so far plan not to adhere to the new Trump rules account for more than 40 percent of all cars sold in the United States.

The Trump administration’s proposal would significantly weaken the 2012 vehicle pollution standards put in place by President Barack Obama, which remain the single largest policy enacted by the United States to reduce planet-warming carbon dioxide emissions

In the Trump administration, three senior political officials working on the rollback, a complex legal and scientific process, have all left the administration recently.

That means the process is now being helmed by Francis Brooke, a 29-year-old White House aide with limited experience in climate change policy.

It may have been a while since you've read any of Shakespeare's plays, but Trump's administration is a prime example of tragedy and comedy.

To quote a line from Hamlet, the king has gone mad.

California emissions standards are tougher, more stringent than anywhere else in the USA.

    dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/?1dmy&urile=wcm:p...

Not all new vehicles are manufactured to be sold in California. Many manufacturers make vehicles to be sold only in the other 49 states. These vehicles (49-state) are made with smog equipment that meets federal emission standards, but not California standards. California-certified (50-state) vehicles are made to be sold in California.

With this being said, automakers have been geared up to reduce emissions of their cars probably 10 to 20 years in advance, and to go backwards isn't an option because these standards are already baked in. To reverse such would ruin a baked cake, and cost automakers large sums of money. Not only that, when a new or different president and administration takes over, these executive decisions by trump would or could very well be reversed causing automakers more great pains. Trump should leave emissions standards and automakers alone and go onto his next diversion of attention.

Here is what Trump said about the auto executives today:

MY PROPOSAL TO THE POLITICALLY CORRECT AUTOMOBILE COMPANIES WOULD LOWER THE AVERAGE PRICE OF A CAR TO CONSUMERS BY MORE THAN $3000, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME MAKING THE CARS SUBSTANTIALLY SAFER. ENGINES WOULD RUN SMOOTHER. VERY LITTLE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT! FOOLISH EXECUTIVES!’

Sorry to repeat myself, but ...

    What an ass.

He's now attacking Ford motor company, because they refuse to increase "pollution" on their cars. How long do we still have to accept all this shit from this guy?

Four automakers have made an agreement w/CA to keep emissions up to snuff. Trump hasn't a clue about automobiles or anything mechanical or technical.

If I had a 2006 Chevy Impala, untouched and unmodified, and I began removing all the emissions related components, and when finished, I tried to drive it, it wouldn't run correctly or good at all, in fact, mileage would drop tremendously. I would have taken a beautifully functioning piece of technological advanced machine and turned it into a undriveable piece of junk.

You just don't take a modern machine and start stripping it of parts that are made to make it operate smoothly.

I can confidently say that after being a NAISE auto tech for years, that when people begin talking about trying to go around and remove things from vehicles meant to operate with lower emissions, they don't know what they're doing and don't know what they're talking about by even suggesting removal of such.

Trump is one of those people who does not know what they're talking about.
