In what has now become a familiar pattern, another one of Trump's nominees for a position got approved by a margin of exactly ONE vote.

Late yesterday, a Navy reserve pilot named Jim Bridenstine was confirmed as the 19th director of NASA by a note of 50-49. Since Democrats opposed him due to his rejection of main stream climate-change science and lack of space experience, and Republican liked him because he was a qualified war hero, the vote was strictly along party lines. The fact hat he is also a Tea Party congressman from a "red state" did little to endear him to the Democrats (officially, he is a member of the House Freedom Caucus). Since Mike Pence is at Mar-a-Lago (the southern White House) this week, the tie-breaking vote was cast by Jeff Flake, who plans to use his vote as leverage to address another unrelated issue (most likely, DACA).

All 3 of Bridenstine's immediate predecessors were all approved unanimously.

Although he is not entirely unqualified (he served on the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology during his two terms in Congress) he does not appear to be as qualified as many of his predecessors:

    And......no experience whatsoever of space.

As a Air Force Veteran, I can confidently say from my experience that smoking at least 1/2 of a marijuana cigarette would qualify any person to be, at the very least, a space cadet, this nominee has no qualifications, not even as a space cadet.

But judging by the look in his eyes, in the photo you have posted, he is stoned out of his mind.

Typical; none of Trump's appointee's qualify for any job, like Pruitt, Carson, Miller, Jordan, McNuchin, Kudlow, Bolton, Kelly etc.

In what has become a very familiar pattern, it seems like EVERYONE that Trump has nominated for positions lately will have trouble getting approved for the position.

Dr, Ronny Jackson is hardly a shoe-in to lead the VA, even though he has been the White House doctor for 3 presidents:

Mike Pompeo managed to squeak out a grudging approval from the Senate Foreign Relations committee, which may or may not doom him as the next Secretary of State:

The person nominated to replace him at the CIA has had a long history of "enhanced interrogation methods" that will, at the very least, slow down her approval:

On top of all that, I have seen numerous reports that Scott Pruitt is going to be fired, which will allow all of us to breathe easier (literally).

Guy, this shows the "quality" in the Trump "mafia" cabinet. Unbelievable! Yes that will be reflecting badly on policies etc. Also Kudlow, Bolton, Carson are totally unfit for the job. The mess will only get greater as I did predicted a long time ago..

As of this moment, congress is strongly urging the WH to withdraw Dr. Ronny to avoid being grilled and fail.

There is a high probability he will be asked routine questions he won't be able to answer, thus be an embarrassment to everyone involved.

It would be something like this:

Q: "What management experience do you have?"

    RJ: "None"

Q: "Can you name the top three departments of the VA?"

    RJ: "Sorry, I can not"

Q: "Have you ever been to the VA?"

    RJ: "No"

Q: "What experience do you have working with Veterans that have not elected to office?"

    RJ: "I have none"

    wwjd:

As of today, the VA has 377,805 employees. In our country, there are 18.5 million veterans, and more than 9,000,000 of them are served by the Department of Veteran Affairs each year. Since Jackson does not actually have any specific managerial experience beyond managing the White House Medical Unit (which has 24 people) , to say that he would be under qualified is a very generous euphemism.

Roughly 5 minutes ago, Trump hinted that Jackson may withdraw his name.

I think the object in every case here is to damage these agencies ,eliminate them even, as much as possible. It's called a kakistocracy when you appoint the absolute worse least able people you can find to head government agencies . Vlad Putin is giving the orders. The fat idiot is a traitor, trying to collapse our entire government .

To hold a state dinner and exclude most Americans by excluding all Democrats is obcene it's criminal. That was a state dinner not a private diner . It was a terrifying omen. All the criminals now involved with this kakistocracy must be prosecuted and jailed or America is through.

I can see states actually seceding . I can see California ,Oregon and Washington petitioning to join cananda. I can see new england seceding to be independent. Think about that. They were the ones who fought for indpendence before ,they could do it again and I would not blame them. I can see NY being a very powerful voice for them.

Could America break up ? Become ten different countries kind of like Europe? I think so. I think we have differences unreconcilable. I think it may be the natural course of history . In Europe , countries are small so they are managable. Ours is too big . America has become a monster . At what point will she break apart ? It could happen. It could be the next game here . To break us up. It may be for the best that we do. I don't want to live in a red state. I don't want to live with Republicans anymore. I want to live in a civil democracy . Republicans are now Nazis. I don't think we should tolerate terrorists .

I would like to be a canandian . I have seen Americans ,I don't want to be one anymore . I quit America.

Maindawg, I think your premise is worthy of its own thread.

Who knows what the future might hold. These times they are a changing.

Maindawg, if you're just venting your frustration, then I fully understand the level things could go in the very very long run. Realistically succession of any state would be decades away at best. Trump is the worst mother fucker to be elected president ever, there is no need for me post all the obvious reasons his not only incompetent, but also unethical, etc, etc, etc... Yet, at this stage there is no need over anticipate that trump will be able to destroy the entire US in 4-8 years, thus various states need to be looking at other options to survive.

Here is my simplistic view. trump is like cancer upon the nation, and it needs to be taken serious to prevent the cancer from spreading. Most of the nation has healthy and strong antibodies that are effectually fighting the cancer, but at national level the cancer has not yet been defeated nor gone into remission. We have not yet reached its breaking point where the cancer is contained and under control. Note, the national Republican party has given up the fight, they can concede that the cancer is too strong for their party to handle, but the nation has not given up on a fight that is winning.

I am saying the cancer (trump and his base) is loosing the long term fight because healthy parts of the country as a whole is far stronger. There is no need for states to panic, thinking the cancer can not be defeated and will spread everywhere until the entire nation is a state of collapse. No strong team ever panics when they are ahead or behind, and no good team panics when the opposing team cheats in order to win.

Adding to that. For those familiar with WII history. Germany hit hard and fast, and took over Europe quickly. But once the rest of world grouped together, Germany was out matched. IMHO, trump and his base, are reliving the same thing. trump quickly took power using questionable methods, but because he is using the same questionable methods as president, the nation is rebelling against him in a war that trump is loosing, and it will break him. Like Germany, trump thinks he can beat everyone, including everybody combined.

Here is a glaring reason trump is incompetent. Once elected, if trump has stopped lying, tweeting, etc, and governed wisely, and ethically, all the investigation into his past would have gone away. He is fueling the fire by is lack of leadership abilitues and his unethical personality traits as a human being.
