The reason President trump and bush jr. were President was the fact our forefathers saw that one man though should be treated as an equal saw that not everyone has the same level of knowledge, or perceived threat within an election of the President. The historic solution, intended to keep the people unqualified for the ultimate power position, was to create the concept of the Electoral College. IT was a sensible idea and not a knee-jerk reaction. Though the best they could do, the Constitution and laws are by design to change as need changes.
The problem with basing any of your personal facts on anything not directly written for you with your very wellbeing taken into account as your facts is that your facts are automatically not as correct as they could be for they are for a different time. A different you with different, 100% true facts.
Inflexibility is a key part of entropy.
If all your vast, incredible computer knowledge which attached PHD to your name is based on a 1998 laptop, even if you are absolutely THE computer genius, I had you todays, you will be completely lost.
If I ask why you don't believe that Thor is the "true god" it isn't because it is archaic, it is because you were raised to believe in something else by a people who followed a different perceived god. Thor was, to HIS followers as real, as much a fact to them, as to me the fact that the Earth's age is pushing billions of years in age. As much a fact as anything "holy" or otherwise is to you. All 100% facts.
There are multiple States which have long had and presently have militia, some with more than one, just like how the US has an armed presence in possible as many "Sovereign" Nations as over 100. Walking into any situation with a gun, cop, soldier, politician, religious fundamentalist or just someone trying to protect themselves from the threat of other people having guns. Entering any situation, from a passing thought noticed, to solid threat, with the intent to conquer or with so much fear towards the other that you feel the need to be lethally armed you are only saying you are inexperienced, completely, with the ability to see the ramifications of your actions.
Your personal facts are very important to you, they are all you live by. Don't approach fact or any person with a different view as being ignorant or stupid or by pushing out your chest to make yourself appear to be bigger. This only proves that you are not there to bring about a solution. They only prove you thus far haven't figured the importance of the rest of the World.
If 5 months ago you said, "Steven Hawking (I hope if his vision of what happens next is close to whatever he finds) is the smartest person in the World" not only are your facts incorrect, there is no telling of what lies within the possibilities or an MIT alum with a 200 IQ, or a filthy, unloved 8 year old in some small town in Peru, picking through piles of refuse hoping for something to eat.
You can't even say that Usain Bolt is the fastest MAN alive or that some poor but attractive woman, raised with sole intention to be Miss Universe actually is anywhere near the most beautiful, nor even less intelligent than the Fantastic, Mr. Hawking. This super genius couldn't say his name. Couldn't lift his hand to bring water to his dry lips and couldn't fend for himself. Smart, intelligent, yes, we are all smart and intelligent in our own way but "smartest, most attractive, fastest" are only proof to the limitations of your construct of the World around and missing the forest for the trees or whatever idiom may help.
Giving yourself to anything, love, hate, god, 'the devil", without taking into account all your gift's ups and downs, all the gray, the possibilities to do harm as well as good, are checked and rechecked regularly, only then should you consider these as not facts, solid, but as your current best hypothesis. If you can see that the "idiot" in front is just you in different skin whose facts are equally, seemingly solid. That is a good path to work towards following.
Good luck out there
You are correct that facts are by nature chimeric. No one knows what anyone else is thinking, feeling or believing. In the case of the electoral college it failed despite Federalist 68 put forth by Hamilton stated. Humans are by nature subject to belief structures that are indoctrinated into them, that they discover on their own or that are shown to them by others. Among these is the second amendment. The concept of security for individual states no longer exists. It has been superseded by the standing army so feared by the founders. What they failed to realize was the standing army in a republic subordinate to the civilian authorities elected by the people was not the same as a military under the control of the divine right of kings for lack of a better term while also in an age of democracies does not pose nearly the potential for threat it once did. Of course that is subject to change as well but then militias wouldn’t stand a chance against the nation-state military and that same military is highly unlikely to strike against the civilian population.
