The word is "chaos" . Trump on its own introduced import "tariffs" on "steel" and "aluminum" . A Banana Republic in the making!!

He forgets that other countries will immediately take counter measures as well the "stock market" did crash; thus the millions of 401K savers can also forget it. It will affect the economy here in a big way;everything will become more expensive as well will create huge trade wars. The idiot in the White House is like a kid in an porcelin shop; just ruin the place. As I predicted a long time ago this country has become NOW an "Banana Republic". The rest of the world will push the US in an"corner" from now on. Trump wants the 1950's back; the rest of the world looks ahead instead.

Yes, the "cliff" is getting closer and closer, unless this country kicks this asshole out of office before it is too late.

Dutch, The status quo Democratic power leaders are content with the potential billion dollar promise that comes with Hillary. The future holds the story of how and who benefited from Hillary's billion dollar campaign. That is a big temptation. How many people are working toward another billion dollar chance?

Chet don't forget we are also entering into an "arms race" because Russia showed what they are planning and already did some of the things, like modernization of their missiles as well nuclear arsenal. Trump of course wants to match that. Since this country has added 4 trillion in debt to its balance sheet already, then the "money" is not there to participate in this "arms race". The consequences likely will be that then most of our tax money related to what is needed in this country disappears into "army" junk. So forget "healthcare" or any "social services" let alone "education" . Yes this will become a very "poor" country; except the 1%. The "iceberg" is in clear sight, but the captain is drunk.

Yes the whole world looks at the US isolated "island" as an big "loser".

Boeing is already preparing a lawsuit; no wonder they've got worldwide competition with Airbus, who then gets its aluminum cheaper. More suits will follow; just look around your house how much is made of "steel" as well "aluminum", let alone the car in your garage. All of these things will then become more expensive. Especially the Samsung products.

The only word I have for Trump is: that is what you get if you elect an "uneducated asshole" as President, who thinks the world trade is the same as in 1950.

Where is the Congress? Sound asleep?

Is it literally impossible for you to write a post without taking a shit on Hillary Clinton? How does Donald's imposing tariffs have anything to do with Clinton's campaign?

Seriously - it's like you are incapable of writing about anything other than your diabolical hatred of the Clinton Family.

Yes Jared the subject was "trade"; I saw on TV that Canada is the biggest supplier of steel and aluminum; we import only 3% of that from China according to the statistics. Thus Trump has it totally wrong by thinking he penalizes China. That 3% is no problem for the Chinese; they will sell it to Europe or Russia instead. The only one's who will be penalized is the American public. The guy is crazy; but no one has the guts to put him into a mental institution.

The Executive has nearly unlimited authority to levy tariffs without Congressional approval.

In other words, this country gives those "powers" to a "lunatic? Unbelievable on how bad the laws are in this country. How could you, as you said in the past that the system here is "fool" proof; are you kidding?

Wilbur Ross, (who never should be in the Government), pushed Trump to announce this stupidity; this "old" guy still lives in the 1950's and forgets on how "free" trade works nowadays. Canada will certainly retaliate as well China. Boeing can forget to sell more planes to China, that will be the result. Yes Jared this country has become the most stupid country in the world, besides Venezuela.

I don't ever recall saying our system is fool proof. There are many improvements I'd like to see made in our Federal government, but Constitutionally I understand why the Executive has broad authority over trade issues. One of the countless reasons I voted against Donald was my understanding that the President has broad powers when it comes to managing international affairs.

I also like to add that Trump flew back into Mar-a-Lago today: as was expected, to recover from his tantrums. I hope that the "normal" people here realize that Trump has spent about a 120 million on his trips to FL and his outings/rally's etc. for nothing. And no one blinks!!! Carson who did spent only 3ok on a dining set; is sending this back. Thus double standards as usual. This country is absolutely crazy, and no one does anything, until it is too late!

Plenty of people blink, but there's absolutely nothing that can be done about it because unlike most other jobs in America, a President can't be fired for excessive travel. The only thing that can be done is voting Democrats into power in 2018, but I'm not holding my breath because the Senate map is abysmal and the House is so gerrymandered that it will take a massive wave to push Republicans out of the majority. And if 2016 taught me anything, it's that Democrats would rather fight among themselves than ever govern again.

Hoeray, thus you admit our system is a mess related to governing; no real "checks and balances" as well corruption all over the place. I said so many times this Constitution is going to be the "noose" around this country's neck; it worked in 1800, but not now. Ask the 17 "kids" who got killed because of it as well the "non vetted con-man mental patient" we got as leader!

Thanks for your reply; I hope you finally see, like you said on how corrupt this country is, like the "gerrymandering" you mentioned. The "corruption" is growing out of proportion right now, until we end up as any third world country. People here are too naive to realize what is going on and refuse to look at the total big "picture" of all the "disasters" right now.

    Not necessarily.

The courts have stepped up on numerous occasions and provided a check on Donald. As has Congress by being unable to pass anything major outside of a tax cut for rich people.

In the same breath, Congress has been rubber stamping Donald's judicial appointees at record pace. Those judges have the potential to reshape the American political landscape more than Donald ever will.

There are plenty of checks and balances, but they are only as good as the fallible human beings who are in charge of upholding them. And if the fallible human beings are right wing zealots then there's nothing we can do about it other than take the extraordinary step of impeaching them, which rarely, if ever happens.

Maybe Bernie or busters should have thought about that side effect when they voted for a sociopath because their feelings were hurt.
