The White House Director of Communications, Hope Hicks, has resigned --the day after she testified for nine hours before the House Intelligence Committee including the revelation that she sometimes tells "white lies" to protect the president. The White House is saying that she has been planning to leave for a long time, but the timing couldn't be more coincidental.

Was she pushed out by Trump because she showed weakness under pressure admitting to telling white lies?

Or is she fed up with the whole situation and wants out of the sinking ship while she can?

    Or something else?

She probably knows more than anyone about what Trump did or didn't do during the campaign and as president, but she is also fiercely loyal to him.

Donald Trump will miss her badly. Who is next?

We'll hear more in the days ahead...

As a funny and stupid note, on Hannity this evening a comment was made:

"She told some 'White Lies'. So I ask you: Is that the best Mueller can do is find someone in the WH that told an occasional harmless White Lie?... This is why the investigation need to be shut down. What is next, being charged for taking a WH pencil home?"

We all know that if she admits to telling a "White Lie" she confirmed to Mueller that others had lied and she backed them up

Think about what a white lie is in terms of the biggest liar in chief. In Trump language a white lie might be giving the launch codes to Putin.

I personally don't know much about her. What I've read recently is that she is political savvy\smart, and this was her decision to get off a sinking ship (aka the Titanic) so she can professionally walk away before the next big bomb drops, and she likely knows what is likely coming, even if we don't.

As far as impact, we know that trump is extremely dependent on having skilled professionals around him to keep him from self destructing, and reports are suggesting she is equated to Batman's Alfred, the single most important "professional" person to trump, the person that keep tracks of the daily details and provides him with hand written PostIt notes on what to say during meetings "Nod like you are listening, and say 'I feel your pain'".

"White lies" may turn into a big deal. People can go to jail for lying dependent upon whom or where the lies are told. "White" is subjective and not self determined.

Trump's temper may have been the "last straw" for her. First reported in the Daily Mail and later CNN, Trump was said to be very upset with her "white lies" testimony to the House Intelligence Committee and berated her for it. It was reported that Trump in his anger told her, "how she could be so stupid".

Hope Hicks has been cited as being the most loyal of the loyalists reporting to Trump. But loyalty is a two way street, and Trump severed that relationship when he so strongly berated her when she would not lie for him in her testimony. Unlike Sessions who seems to dig in when publicly berated, the 29 year old Hicks is apparently more sensitive. She resigned and Trump immediately accepted her resignation unable to admit that he was wrong.

However as the Washington Post reports, Hope Hicks was way more than a Director of Communications. She was the one person he could go to when he needed reassurance and support. As a White House official said,

“I cannot over-state how important Hope is to keeping this thing together. She really is one of the only people who has the President’s trust and respect.”

As the WP article observes: "In a building riven with suspicion and infighting, presided over by an unpredictable, some would say irrational, boss, a key pillar of support is leaving."

Well maybe she was his "enabler-in-chief" but one way relationships cannot last. I suppose Trump's three wives could tell you that, although he still is holding onto Melania...or is it the other way around?

Trump will regret his move. He is now more alone than ever at a time when the walls of justice are closing in on him.

    Schmidt:

It appears that Trump DID tell Ms. Hicks that she was stupid, which turned out to be the last straw. Since that now opens the door for Mueller to get more information from her, it means that Trump is actually the one who was stupid. She is the FOURTH communication director that Trump had.

The best thing she can do, is write a "book" as well get a "lawyer" so she can keep the house Trump bought for her.
