There's a massive difference between respectfully disagreeing with people and personally attacking someone you disagree with.

"My way or the highway" thinking frustrates the hell out of me. There's no such thing as a right or wrong belief (unless someone is a racist, xenophobe, or homophobe). If someone is one of those then I'm right and they are wrong.

However, facts are different. No matter how much Donald wants to make you believe it, there is no such thing as alternative facts. Facts are just that - facts.

My post to Chet warning him to follow community rules has nothing to do about being "nice" or not. It is my responsibility to ensure community rules are followed and personally attacking other members is not allowed. Period.

I could have removed the thread, but I didn't because I understand that emotions get the better of all of us sometimes. That's why I simply reminded him to review the community rules instead.

The same goes with you, Dutch. Just because I don't agree with you 100% of the time doesn't mean I don't respect you or approach our discussions as cordially as possible.

I'm of the belief that debate is absolutely necessary and that group think mentality is one of the scariest things happening in our country.

"I'm right and you're wrong" is the bane of our society. If we can't learn to accept that those who hold different opinions than us aren't the enemy then we're going to stay perpetually stuck in this viscous cycle that we've found ourselves in as a country.

Yes Jared, now you are talking as you should. Please excuse me, like they say in Dutch: "de kachel aanmaken met je" which means; kind of looking how far you can go; "teasing" is the word here. The Dutch have the habit of doing so, in order to find out where a person is "made of" as well the "tolerance" level.

    Interesting post and comments.

I would just add that the people who don't usually vote form the strongest voting block---and political parties fear this block. If any party annoys this group too much, they just might find the incentive to come to the polls.

In a similar manner, a campaign will try to convince soft supporters of the opponent to stay home. CBC made a documentary about the Trump FB campaign team (not to be confused with the main campagin team). The FB campaign team managed to isolate single mothers and delivered ads with nice music and kids playing in the playground. At the end of the video was "TRUMP pence". That ad was designed to convince this traditional D demographic to stay home on voting day.

The left really became energized after Ryan announced he is leaving congress. I have some acquaintances here in Kenosha County ( not at all Ryan lovers) that were celebrating the news of his departure. Democrats in this area of Wisconsin are fired up. They became fired up right after a liberal judge was elected a few days ago. We're riding the wave here.

Ask Joe Lieberman ( I ) how that works... Fail to follow the most hard-line "progressive" policies and you will be primaried/removed.

Child molesters and pedophiles were also fired up and celebrating.

Well see, I felt compelled to answer that person's post because, the judge who won the election here in Wisconsin tipped the balance to favor liberals, before she was elected, the court makeup was a R majority, now it has a D majority.

The poster is disgruntled because he or she feels that the newly elected judge is soft on criminal/s, namely child molesters and the like. This panned out in the media, an ad paid for by republicans to try to smear her because they felt she let a child molester off easy, it is important here to note that by republicans running the ad that they just about released the names of the victims, (it was obvious at the time who the victims were) who were minors at the time the offender was being prosecuted. Whether this was done intentionally or unintentionally is not important, was is important is that the ad should never have been aired. Yes, these Wisconsinites cannot even shovel manure properly, that is fact, because if they could, they would never have deliberately outed the names of minors involved in a sexual abuse case. This is exactly how republicans in this state play dirty, it's similar to what they do in other states too.

Unless the Democratic Party starts to support Progressive Candidates the Democratic party will slowly put surely become as extinct as the dodo birds.
