In 1969, Hillary Rodham was president of College Government and and presiding office of College Senate. As a result, she was asked to give a commencement speech.

A few days after Kent State, Hillary Clinton was invited to address the League of Women's Voters in Washington because they were impressed by the speech she gave at Wellesley College in 1969. You can read the entire speech at the link below:

I'm working my way through her latest book, and it is painfully obvious that she would have been a GREAT president.

One of the quotes in her book is this:

"Change might be the most powerful word in American politics. It is also one of the hardest to define. In 1992 and 2008, change meant electing dynamic young leaders who promised hope and renewal. In 2016, it meant handing a lit match to a pyromaniac."

As soon as you can, READ THIS BOOK.

2016 wasn't about change. It was about that no change was offered. Hillary was running under the same ideas that created stagnate lower class wages, Wall Street running wild, transfer of wealth , income and property to the uber wealthy. 2016 was about no help coming from the establishment. Somewhere in history there was a compassionate HRC. But that person disappeared into one who said a hundred million dollars is really not that wealthy.

She would have been terrific and received my vote. The party was less than they needed to be. They still are. We will under achieve until significant changes are made in the party.

Read today that she won by three million votes. That's more than Nixon beat Humphrey more than Kennedy beat Nixon . The electoral college is a bad devise designed to appease smaller slave holding states, over two hundred that's ago. Now only did Hillary win , she won by alot. Al Gore won too.

Man when you step back and look at the big picture , you haven't wonder when is the shooting war going to start ?

"Main" you are right; it is the antique "laws" in this country which will be its undoing; like the "gun" laws as well "electoral college" nonsense. Also all the laws which should be here, are nowhere to be found; like proper "election laws" without "money" and corruption as well properly "vetting" of our leaders; now the "billionaires" run the show. All of this is an self inflicted wound, as I said a million times.

    maindawg:

I agree with you that the electoral college is an outdated institution. Trump and George W. Bush were not the first presidents that had more electoral votes, but lost the primary vote. W. got exactly ONE more vote than needed (271), but only because the Supreme court stopped the Florida recount.Ironically, the electoral college was originally created to prevent a "charismatic crook" (like Trump) from getting elected.

Most of us would agree that Trump did not legitimately win the election, since there were a LOT of irregularities in the election, in addition to the meddling by the Russians.

It's also true that George W. Bush did not win EITHER of his elections legitimately. The link below provides more details:

"Guy" Why is this country so awfully "corrupt" ? No other country in the world uses an "electoral college"; only "votes should count. May be this system worked in 1800 but not in 2018. Don't forget the country has changed a lot i.e. in 1800 they were all stupid and the population spread was totally different (certain States barely had people), now the coastal area's are more educated as well have a better economy as well a more dense population. The "center and "south" States are still the "stupid" States, as well "evangelical" which creates other problems as well.

In other words just let "votes" count; why do things difficult, if you can simplify.

As antiquated and bad as the system is, it is well known to everybody. Hillary just had bad information from a staff that was already celebrating Hillary's victory and making plans for a Hillary Presidency. Don't forget I said from the very beginning that Hillary had lost contact with the working class. I said unless she changed Trump would win with "lots of good paying jobs". Hillary was stuck with saying how good things were under Obama. When she did start to change after the convention it was too little too late. If the Hillary supporters keep blaming the electoral college and don't start recognizing working class problems she won't have a chance. The DNC doesn't have a winning platform. They have got to come up with something but it looks like they are satisfied with what they have .

At the same time, Perez made decisions as chair that deeply upset the party’s progressive wing. When the DNC met for the first time under new leadership last October, committee members found that Sanders and Ellison backers were removed from key posts — and replaced by Clinton loyalists.

I finished reading this book yesterday, and would rate it as one of the best books that I have read in a long time.

Here's a couple of quick observations:

1 - Russia declared war on America in the spring of 2014 - and won on 11/8/2016

2 - the scope and sophistication of social media meddling by the Soviets is absolutely staggering

3 - the news media spent WAY too much time on Hillary's emails, and far too little time explaining why Trump is totally unfit for office

4 - I am not the only one who feels that Jim Comey violated the Hatch Act. Harry Reid filed a formal complaint 2 days after Comey's infamous 10/28/16 letter, which was 11 days before the election.

The history of the Hatch Act makes for interesting reading.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatch_Act_of_1939

In addition to Comey, both Nikki Haley and Kellyanne Conway are cited for questionable actions. In view of the fact that Trump has the worst Cabinet in our nation's history, I would predict that even more Trump officials will be added to the list.

    That guy.... Entirely correct.

The social media poison spread by Russian trolls didn't stop there. It shaped the manipulated understanding that too many left with. That is shared in small talk conversations at the coffee machine at the office and other places as well. They were pawns for Vladimir and Donald.

Arizona -- yes for anyone reading her in-depth biography without knowing the person, they would have been amazed. And every job she did she did exceptionally well. I think she was one of the best Secretaries of State because she was doing the really hard work on the ground building relationships all over the world. Her approval rating was 67 percent when she left office but I would guess it was much higher overseas. But then the Republican smear machine with the help of the Russians and Trump went to work preying on the ignorance and emotions of the American people. We should be ashamed.

I will make one other observation. We are making a big deal of all the dirty tricks of the Russians against Hillary Clinton. Truthfully, I couldn't notice much difference between the Russian generated falsehoods and those by the Republicans going way back. Republicans are ruthless...same as Putin.

Another point: Jill Stein was a lackey for Putin going around the country bellowing that there was no difference between Hillary and Donald Trump. I would twist that around and say there was little to separate the ideologies of Putin from those of Trump. Jill Stein looks pretty small now, and maybe rightfully so having been duped by Putin.

I just wonder how many Russian "trolls" are there in the FOX propaganda "machine"; I guess they have a direct line to Moscow.
