Several news sources are reporting that Donald Trump has ordered the Pentagon to start planning for a grandiose military parade in Washington D.C. showing off military equipment with marching troops and bands, flags and lots of patriotic flag waving citizens lining the parade route. It is being couched by some as a parade to honor Trump, or at least one in which he can stand prominently in a viewing stand watching and saluting as the troops march by.

It is reported that he loved watching the French military parade on Bastille Day and wanted to do something even bigger in America. However, I can't help but think of the military style parades of goose stepping troops in North Korea with their heads turned towards their leader, Kim Jung-Un as they pass by.

The cost doesn't seem to be an object, but it would also require repaving the streets after all the tanks tear them up.

    Thoughts?

When I first heard this in the news today, here were my thoughts at that time: "I bet trump was watching Fox news and they showed a clip from a NK propaganda video showing off their military hardware with Kim Jung-Un over seeing a massive multi-million parade and now trump feels he needs OUT do Jung-Un."

I don't think anyone would be surprised if he announced he was ordering NASA to make him the first president in space... Cost, who F'ing cares, Not my money. Sure, about about a few Trillion to start.

In North Korea, Kim Jung-un executes people who do not sufficient respect him by not applauding or otherwise not showing "extreme adulation" to him. I wonder if Trump is secretly envious of Kim Jung-in, especially his military parades and the 100 percent adulation that he gets personally from the crowds and the troops.

It must have burned Trump's ass to see Democrats not applauding him during his state-if-the-union speech, so it should not be surprising that he lashed out calling them guilty of treason. That got him some much needed cheers at his Ohio campaign rally.

I wonder though what would be his next initiative to be proposed in the "Trump alternative reality show". George Orwell's "Thought Police" perhaps? In a sense he is already doing that by purging from his staff anyone who doesn't show loyalty...both in deeds and thought. John Kelly for one has seemed to undergone the brain change since he became chief-of-staff. He joins Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Kellyanne Conway, Stephen Miller and a few others who cannot engage in any impure thoughts when it comes to their leader.

And a whole lot of Republicans in Congress led by Devin Nunes and Paul Ryan...

But instead he gets Sen.. Tammy Duckworth calling him, "Cadet Bone Spurs".

"We don't live in a dictatorship or a monarchy. I swore an oath—in the military and in the Senate—to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, not to mindlessly cater to the whims of Cadet Bone Spurs and clap when he demands I clap," Sen. Tammy Duckworth tweeted Monday evening.

One word: NUTS. It is just another step to a dictatorship. It is like a little kid playing with toy soldiers. Our stupid wars have cost thousands of life's and our veterans are proof of it and still is costing lots of money. Having a parade with them in "wheelchairs" and crutches instead would be much better to show what wars do to people which we sent there as cannon fodder. Such parade as the "kid" wants cost way above 22 million, just for him so everyone can salute the "dictator". The 22 million plus you spent on better things like decent healthcare or to help of our veterans recovering from trauma.

Militarism is an curse; not something to be proud of. Hitler and Stalin had big parades; you all know how that ended!

I just can't help but wonder how Republicans would react if Obama forced the military to hold a grand military parade in his honor. They would be apoplectic if Obama dared to do something like that, but all you hear is crickets when their dear leader who has dictatorial aspirations wants to do it.

Over the past year it has been reported that trump has little understanding of how our system of government operates, and he honestly thought after he got elected that he had presidential powers that were equivalent to a dictatorship. Think of it this way, trump conceptually believed he was elected "Dictator" except we use the term "President". In his mind "President" and "Dictator" are exactly the same F'ing thing, or he didn't understand the differences between the two.

I am not joking, trump is that ignorant.

I'd bet he has already asked ignorant question like: "Can I get rid of the parts of the US Constitution that I don't like? "

In "TrumpThink" this is just another way to divide Americans and bolster his base. When he says he wants a parade to "honor our troops" he is separating Americans again. "You are either with us or you are with the..."

It has been suggested that parade will be on or near Veterans Day, November 11th. That's just a few days after the mid-term election. Maybe they'll move it up to the weekend before the election to make it "Honoring Veterans Week". Anyone who doesn't show the same kind of exuberance seen in support of Kim Jung-un would be labeled "Un-American" and not supporting the troops.

    Just a thought on "TrumpThink".

It brings me back to the days when W sought to divide the country and the world by saying "you're either with us, or you are with the terrorists." Dissent is unpatriotic and un-American.

I can totally see that happening and history shows us that Republicans are more than happy to use the military as pawns in their electoral ambitions. Remember how they tapped into the fear of many Americans after 9/11 to score political victories in the 2002 midterm elections?

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Donald declares a national week of patriotism and hosts his big, beautiful military parade days before the midterm elections. Republicans will proudly waive their flags and berate any and everyone who dares to push back against their blatant politicization of the armed forces days before a national election. The depressing thing is that it very well may work.

The thing the "deplorables" don't understand is that such parade is only to please Trump's ego and is done solely in honor for him.

Don't forget the cost, let alone the transport of all that military junk, the logistic, security, chaos in the city all cordened off, let alone the podium on which Trump and family gets honored; then the "Trumped" band music etc.

I guess this country has better things to . Have a parade of "wheelchairs and crutches" of the veterans, to show what unnecessary wars do to people.
