The White House just withdrew its nomination of Kathleen Hartnett White to head the Council of Environmental Quality.

If you watched her confirmation hearing in the closing months of 2017, it was painfully obvious that she was utterly unqualified for the post. Although she currently works as a top regulator for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, she is a climate change denier, largely due to the fact that the commission is funded by the Koch brothers.

It’s no secret why virtually ALL of Trump’s nominees are not qualified for the job they were nominated for, and the Forbes article of 3/27/2010 sums it up very well:

Trump is a terrible leader, a fact that was confirmed by every large newspaper in the country BEFORE the election. Since he was “chosen by God”. Trump may have selected Ms. White due to the fact that she attended Princeton University’s comparative religion doctoral program – but I doubt that that is the reason he picked her.

Her bio (shown below) will have you scratching your head:

Thanks for the links. I have watched a few other appointee hearings, and shocked as to how unqualified several have been. It not just political differences where opinions come into play, several of these nominations can't even answer the basics 101 level questions.

Q: "Do you agree the Earth is round?"
A: "I've heard arguments that the world is flat, so it's debatable"
Q: "You think is it a debatable issue?"
A: "Yes, on youtube there are several videos that make a compelling argument that its a conspiracy that the world is round"
Q: "So you think its possible the Earth is flat, and there has been a conspiracy for several years that the Earth is round"
A: "I'm just saying I am keeping an open mind on the issue. It looks flat everywhere I go. I never see a curve, even in an airplane the world looks flat. That is pretty compelling evidence."

Arizona -- Thanks for sharing. Another website, The Authoritarians, by Dr. Robert Altemeyer discusses the traits of both the authoritarian leader and authoritarian followers. I have highlighted Altemeyer's research work on authoritarians several times on this website, and while the media likes to focus on Donald Trump's personality, what is less talked about is the authoritarian followers...people who are naturally attracted to a leader like Trump.

I won't copy/paste those characteristics here, but many of them fit Trump's followers to a tee. Just click on the link and skim down to "Authoritarian Followers". He lists 14 characteristics, most all applicable to Trump's most avid followers. This is Trump's base, and I distinguish it from those Republicans who just indulge him or are just in it for the ride to get their own selfish agendas passed.

Schmidt, it is nice to analyse this, however we are taken for a ride piece by piece in this direction. Jared always said the "checks and balances" will prevent such. However even now the "laws" don't fit the crime anymore. Even the discussions on how to interview Trump by Mueller make me laugh; everything for the "lawyers" seem to be something "new" which never happened before. But in the meantime Trump chews at every little piece to reach his goal to be a "dictator" as in Russia or N. Korea. The worst part is that nothing in our Constitution prevents what he is doing or has done already (nothing until now has stopped him). Even Mueller's activities are wasted in the Congress which keeps supporting him; impeachment seems even a far away long process.

So I'm not too optimistic about the "authoritarian" outcome. Heil Hitler
