Colin Kaepernick is known as a man of integrity. Another NFL player who has a lot of integrity is Chris Long.

His story can be read at the link below:

It looks like the NFL made some rules about standing for the national anthem. Teams can set their own policy concerning what players can do, either stand or take a kneel. It's kind of like Goodell is acting as a president, but leaving decisions up to states. Kind of like what a U.S. Government official would do, no mentioning any names here. Is Goodell a republican?

Goodell IS a Republican, but if you read his.bio on Wikipedia, he actually appears to be a good guy.

The football players are paid to perform at a private non public event. I don't think the players can act out anything of their own volition. Employees have a challenged standing representing anything other than what they are paid to do.

It's my belief that the NFL teams may be violating some players' constitutional rights, freedom of speech. Granted the players are paid to perform, but that doesn't mean that being paid removes their rights to freedom of speech or expression.

Trump has been attempting to create a racial and political firestorm between owners and players.

He is hoping the owners will force players (ie blacks players) to stand during the national anthem. It is symbolically akin to forcing black players to swallow their self-respect and values if they want to keep their job, then forcing owners and white players to chose a side. 99% would stand anyway, but trump wants it forced upon them so its clear in their mind "remember, you will always be consider a n*gger, even if you are making over $1 million per game, you're just a highly valued slave"

Prediction: If trump continues to make this a political issue, we shall see people attending the NFL games deciding to sit in their seats, as means of protest. What would trump do next; demand that there be laws enacted that require all citizens to stand and solute the flag at all public events, otherwise be arrested and charged with a crime?

Yes it does and the Armed Services proves it. Soldiers rights are defined by the UCMJ, Uniform Code of Military Justice. Same goes for any employee. All kinds of rights are given up to keep a job. Exercising rights like free speech can cost a person their job.

"What most Americans generally don't know is that the Constitution doesn't apply to private corporations at all."

I absolutely don't understand this; sorry the flag and anthem mean nothing; it is only a cotton piece of cloth or hollow words which don't reflect what this country actually stands for. We kill millions of people all over the place who never hurt us, including our own people by means of antique gun laws etc. and wave our flag and think we are "decent" in this world. Forget it. The solution is simple don't play the national anthem at all during any game.

... Knowing what asshole trump is, its easy to predict that somehow, someway, he will get the confederate flag to appear next the US flag at some event while the national anthem is being played. Forcing people at the event to solute both flags or sit down, thus causing yet another political firestorm between people.

Yes, this is a reasonable possibility that constitutional rights are being violated.

Decades ago (ie 70s) when I was in grade school, I remember there was a court ruling that specifically stated that public schools could not mandate that students say the pledge of allegiance. Very likely that the NFL Players union could win a court fight over where or not players are required to stand during the national anthem.

The simple question is: Can any employer force their employees to behave in a specific manner in connection to political\national symbols?

Example, Could the NFL force the players to stand and solute the confederate flag?

My background is over 30 Federally Adbitrated Labor disputes and hundreds of local labor grievances. Bottom line is nobody can be forced to do anything and nobody can be prevented from doing anything. By the same token an individual's job is at risk. Taking a knee in opposition to an employer's wishes can result in immediate discharge. There is no protection of any kind . Improper actions of an employee even off the property or hours after scheduled employment hours can still cause an employee to be disciplined or discharged. All of these extreme abuses that result from an illegal initial action have no merit. The agitators skipping over the initial actions are simply agitators polarizing sides with no obvious or desired solution. The most hopeful result is all the exaggerated abuses precipitate a plan or inspire an individual to come forth with a plan before the sides are too far apart or before they start a race war.

    Enough of this bullshit.

There is nothing patriotic about a professional sporting event. Stop with the flag and anthem at these things, including that confederate backed crap called NASCAR. Just start the damn game.

I have liked the comments by former players including Sage Rosenfels. If the song is so absolutely sacred then stop the concession sales while it's being played. Cricket chirping in the background......

Yes, I said the same thing; just play the game and stop all this B.S. Or if they want "music" play a Michael Jackson record.
