Dutch - You have made these charges many times in this website. Sorry but until you can provide proof I cannot go along. You might be right, but your accusations go well beyond anything remotely suggested by any reliable media figure. Robert Mueller has difficulty in proving the more evident Russian collusion charges, but your accusations have zero supporting evidence other than Trump is by nature a crook and everything he touches has a crooked money motive.

The money motive in this case may be more related to his survival as president and the possible charges of money laundering with the Russian mafia and banks that could bring the collapse of the Trump organization. He needs the support of his "Ann Coulter base" when the legal charges come to light. And that means building the wall.

Just one answer: Follow the money!

Schmidt, the "media" is afraid, so are the "senators" these things will come only forward after the fact. Just like as Bush with his Iraq invasion. As well the things we know now about Trump which were not published before the election. Sorry to say this country always starts at Z but ends up with A. The motivations of Trump are always "loyalty" and "money"; nothing else; the proof is in the pudding; he does not care about "people", he cares only about himself and getting the money back which he lost with his casino's and other deals. Amen. Just asks Romney, Scott, Ross how they got their millions. Trump will beat them all; I drink to that with an bottle of Trump wine.

The only qualifier I would add is that almost everything bad we knew about Trump BEFORE the election was published in some form or other. I wrote two blog articles, and my research didn't uncover anything that wasn't known or published before he was elected. In some cases the important news made the back pages and/or got lost in the bigger sensation of Trump himself dominating the news headlines everyday. This is what Trump does. He deflects to other stories about him, and the media always obliges because he is good for ratings. That's the sad fact.

The Trump Wall got lots of publicity because he used it to highlight "murderers, rapists, and drug dealers coming across the border". It now defines him and the shutdown.

I watch MSNBC primarily and got sick and tired of all the Trump coverage leading up to the November 2016 election. Hillary couldn't break through much promoting HillaryClinton.com. It just wasn't as exciting and titillating as "grabbing them by the pussy".

Raw Story: Watch Rachel Maddow hilariously mock Trump for justifying policy by something he saw in a movie

On Rachel Maddow's show last night she likely solved a puzzle that has been bothering many in the media. As many have observed, Trump engages in all kinds wild stories cited again and again about the events at border crossings including women being tied up with duct tape across their mouths, amazing fast Mexican cars like you’ve never seen before that can outrun the border patrol, and Muslim prayer rugs being found at the border.

"Trump appointed senior management at Customs and Border Patrol reportedly sent an emailed request for information to employees of that agency asking them for any factual backup they could locate to bolster the president’s repeated detailed assertions..." They need this information to back-up Trump's repeated claims, but no border patrol agents can find any instances to verify Trump's wild claims.

"The president says this over and over and over again. There does not as yet seem to be any known factual basis for the president’s repeated claims that this is part of the crisis at the border,” Maddow explained.

Until now. Those things, "the women being tied up with tape and put in cars to traffic them across the border, the amazing fast cars, and the prayer rugs all are featured in a movie, Sicario: Day of the Soldado.

The movie is fiction, but of Trump's claims on all three of those events above are featured in the movie.

“I mean, is it possible that that is where the president cooked up these justifications for the crisis at the border and pretense for sending U.S. troops there right before the election?” she wondered. “Could that actually happen in real life? I don’t know.”

Well maybe we don't know for sure, but knowing Trump, it sure seems likely to me. If the border patrol agents cannot validate any of Trump's claims, then they must have originated in the movies. Ha.

I am beginning to question how much the Ann Coulter really supports Trump.

Anything short of waterboarding children on prime TV, is reason enough for her and several others to bash Trump harder than the main stream media. She has called him a "Whimp with no back bone" and "A major loser ". She was the one that pushed for the government shutdown, and is now calling him names for re-opening the government without getting the wall. Hell, she doing a very good job of pushing him into making the worst choices. If Trump continued to listen to her, we'd still be in a Government shutdown with all air traffic grounded until Trump lifted the ban.

Ann Coulter is an elitist ideologue. She probably shudders every time Trump opens his ignorant mouth.

She maybe trying to goat him to doing stupid things, not that he needs much help, but he clearly responds to name calling that comes from his base. He is a bit like a dumb ass HS student that does stupid things just because somebody calls him "Chicken"

Ann Colter on Fox News: "Trump is just a big chicken, little Nancy tells him he can't have a wall, and he hides under his desk. Boo Hoo, what a cry baby"

Trump watching Fox News: "I am no baby, I'll show her, I'll shut down the government and then we'll see who is a baby!"

Yes you are right related to the "media" in this country; Trump got the wrong attention for 80%, Hillary got 20% attention. On top of that the "media" spent hardly any time on the "background" of Trump in detail. Only his "rally's were promoted all the time. The other amazing thing is that "media" like FOX is actually an propaganda machine for indoctrination like they do in "dictatorships"; I'm amazed that such is allowed in this country; "freedom of speech" should be better be defined, as with all our half baked laws.

When I lived in Flagstaff, WTF meant "welcome to Flagstaff", but it took on another meaning this morning when I read the story below in the Washington Post:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-digs-in-on-border-wall-funds-as-congressional-negotiators-prepare-to-convene/2019/01/30/56139e24-2488-11e9-ad53-824486280311_story.html?utm_term=.d18152c5f280

    Here is the key phrase:

President Trump warned Wednesday that congressional negotiators would be “wasting their time” if they do not discuss his demand for a U.S.-Mexico border wall, which led to a 35-day partial government shutdown that ended last week with a temporary truce.

Trump just caused a lot of anguish for 800,000 federal employees, and numerous federal contractors, with his last stunt, and now he wants to do it again?

    WTF?

Yes, the only hope I have that Pelosi does not give him one penny for any "wall"; as well she should say that money is already spent on the "shutdown", thus forget it.

Trump doesn't care who he hurts, as long as it isn't his mob family or his appointee minions.

Yes, Trump in a NYT interview yesterday reiterated that claim that he doesn't expect Congress to come up with a budget solution to fund his wall, so he is making plans to call a national emergency. He is right about the Congress part. He knows Speaker Pelosi is not going to give him a dime for the wall. Unless, the conference committee can come up with some face saving language of replacing existing fencing that can be twisted into a "new wall", he will be forced to act on the emergency.

Trump continues to degenerate in his actions and words -- a desperate, pathetic, defeated man clinging to his last hope as he well knows that Mueller is closing in on him. The question is "when" not "if" he will resign from office. And I believe he will resign because if he is removed via the impeachment process, he will lose his pension for life amongst many other perks for former presidents.

    Wikipedia: Former Presidents Act

That last part about perks for former presidents is off-topic. Knowing Trump, he will never allow himself to be removed from office if there is more money to be made in resigning. Just thought I would throw that in. At some point when it is politically convenient he will resign and have Pence pardon him...except the New York state prosecutors won't play that game.

Nothing is EVER Trump's fault. Now he is blaming his brand new chief of staff for the bad press he got about his wall. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the "hit" to the economy from the shutdown was actually $11 billion, but some other sources put it even higher.
