Wisconsin cops laughing about how they might be on the news when bringing down a Bucks basketball player. Most cops probably do laugh and joke about beating the hell out of people they take into custody. Until the courts begin convicting cops of brutality, we can probably expect to see more of this kind of behavior by police across Amerika.

A side note: when a cop is killed, law enforcement agencies join in the search for the offender, but when a citizen is killed, that's a different story.

Very strange that no one here point to the real "reason" of all of this. Start with "a" CAUSE and "EFFECT".

    1) If you don't do proper screening of the "cops" you hire, like what is their "background" as well their "political inclination"

    2) Don't hire because their "military experience" which is shoot to kill, but does not teach/learn to "serve" or analyse a situation

    3) Character check, if they have an "bully" mentality or other "mental" issues. (professional check done by an civilian mental specialist)

    4) Make sure that the job is not just follow "orders" as in the military, but also teach common sense for any situation.

    5) Give them an decent wage as well an"merit" program on basis of positive public feedback.

    6) Don't equip them as with the military; people here are not the enemy who you want to kill.

I wouldn't preclude someone from being a cop because they served in the military. What is more important is character...a person that can be firm but not a bully. No hotheads. No thin skinned people. The job requires tolerance and the ability to listen and talk calmly. I've had speeding tickets where the policeman has been calm and direct. Other times they had to show their dominance and power over you. There are assholes in every profession.

What you write is true Schmidt, but also what Dutch writes is true too.

IMO, cops with a military background, especially jarheads, are probably the worst choice for being a cop, about all they know how to do is fight & kill. I don't like cops to be militarized either, as Dutch alluded to already.

George Floyd is probably the straw that broke this camel's back this time. There will be more deaths of blacks in the coming weeks, months and years, but Floyd's was pretty much one of the worst.

Authorities can indict and arrest a ham sandwich, but getting a conviction of a cop is difficult. I don't see too many cops doing time for murdering blacks.

The murderer of Floyd just set this country back 150 years.

It wouldn't surprise me if Floyd's murderer is affiliated in some way with a white supremacist group.

According to MSM this morning, Floyd's killer is on suicide watch. Why? Let the son of a bitch hang himself. It would be better than watching a dog and pony show trial letting him go free. He can't be jailed with a prison's or jail's general population because there are probably a few bro's who'd like to get to know him better. For a short time.

You all know what else gets to me? There were people standing around watching this thug kill a handcuffed man, and nobody, nobody stepped up to try to stop this killing. I don't care if there were 10 cops standing around doing nothing, someone should have stepped up to the plate to rescue George, and nobody did a fucking thing to try to help him. That makes me very angry. We all can't stand around and allow jackboot police thugs kill us, someone needs to stand up to this kind of treachery.

We also have the wrong person in the executive branch. In 1968, I had a dream, possibly a premonition or nightmare of sorts, where I watched armed national guard or army figures marching in the streets of the USA and dispersing crowds of demonstrators with live rounds of rifle fire, this situation may soon come to that with trump running the show. I hope it does not, but I feel we're really close to a turning point here where our government is about to turn on it's people at the orders of the president.

    Dock:

I'm not sure if Derek Chauvin was in the military. However, the owner of the nightclub where he worked as a bouncer said that he commonly used "overkill" when it came to black customers:

No Schmidt; an person who is trained in military tactics and how to kill people as they did in Afghanistan, Vietnam, Iraq etc. killing little kids and women are not suited for "civil" service. I still see the picture in my mind of the "military" guy standing on an bunch of bodies in Iraq with an smile on his face. Thus an absolute, No, No. Military training also uses totally different tools than only "crowd" control; how about "agent orange" and "napalm" and machine guns and mortars and rocket launchers and don't care who they kill. At least in Europe they use their brains and don't train the police the similar way as the military. Here the most are 85% pure bullies. Amen.

Question: Why join the "police"? Either you can't find another job, or you have an inferiority complex or like to have authority and love to "nail"/be nasty to others.

Civil unrest in my city, Kenosha, began last Sunday after about 5 p.m. when a police officer shot a black man in his back 7 times.

Protestors probably caused millions of dollars in damage, about 6 garbage/refuse trucks were torched, about 100 cars were torched at a used car lot, stores were broken into and some were torched, cop cars were damaged, and the violence continued into last night, even though there was an 8 p.m. curfew in place, it seemed unenforceable because news reported on video of more vehicles being torched.

My wife's work called her and told her not to come to work yesterday, and she may not be able to work today.

Okay, I get the point, police brutality is wrong on any level. I'm trying to understand why people are burning trucks, cars and businesses who had nothing to do with one cop's actions to shoot another person.

CAUTION, THE VIDEO POSTED IS DISTURBING!

Dock, it is not the police, it is the total idiotic system here which causes all this counter action. People here are loosing it once you get an government who only cares for the rich and powerful. The "cops" are only "enforcers" who absolutely have no clue what the job is all about; they just act as if they are in an foreign country with the military. I've written enough about that for sure. On top of that you have the "virus" thing, which drives people nuts staying at home or have lost their jobs etc.

It is the total mis-management of this country which causes this. People are getting fed up. The only solution is to get rid of the idiots in the government, who only care for their own wallet and standing. Start making "laws" for the rich and their behavior, as well for Presidents. Right now the whole country is in an "mental" state, because of the virus and because of it, can't cope with it; then people do crazy things. The police thing is just because , what I've said before totally fucked up ; even our fantastic leader puts fuel on the fire all the time and no one wants to revamp the police here..

The endless cycle of police brutality and senseless killings is nefarious and sickening. I hope desperately that a huge number of unhappy citizens have or will register to vote and will let their voices be heard as they vote for a drastic change. Everyone needs to step up and validate their discontent with a vote for change. That's simply how it works.

TJ, sorry that is not how it works; the stock market is going higher and higher, especially with certain stocks Trump "likes" ; the Dow is just about where it was in the spring before the virus. Guess who's manipulating these numbers? Right now the Trump approval "numbers" are improving rapidly; guess why? Trump uses this important "tool" to get re-elected; the "rich" will keep voting for him!! The Trump party does not care if the police "kills" blacks; they in fact love it.

Wake up America; nothing is "real" and "honest" anymore under Trump.

Jim Cramer is an analyst with a show on CNBC (Mad Money) where he gives investment advice. He says some companies are doing incredibly well but that doesn't equal a strong economy. He mentions unemployment and a huge number of companies who are truly struggling. The fact that #45 will take any angle that he can brag about is not a true strong economy. Hopefully more experts point out the negatives like unemployment and the million people who could lose their homes in the next 6 months.

This isn't the thread to discuss the economy though.

The National Basketball Association is cancelling their 3 playoff games tonight in Orlando. They're protesting the police shooting and racial injustice.

All the stores in Kenosha are now boarded up, the national guard is patrolling our streets. The night before last, a self proclaimed law and order teenager took to the street armed with a AR-15 rifle, he was from a town about 20 miles away, he shot 3 protestors/rioters and two of which were killed, he attended a trump rally in 2019. They're investigating to see if he is a member of a militia. He's going to be extradited to Kenosha, on 2 counts of homicide/murder, at the very least. He is supposedly only 17 years of age, a minor.

That is what you get if you appoint idiots in the government and police. For both issues I wrote many threats; it all boils down to "qualifications" for the job as well the lack of screening for "mental"' health. The kid with the gun is probably too much indoctrinated by the Trump media and mentality. I guess people have no idea about what Trump has done to make this an"third" world country. Trumpers be proud of yourself, you achieved your goal; chaos and death.

Love those guns (and the "mis-interpreted "second amendment") in the hands of the one's who never should be allowed to have those; this includes the militarized police.

USA Today: 'People's worst fears' came alive in Kenosha: Guns, militia inject chilling dimension into protests

Dockadams -- You have a front row seat to what is going on in Kenosha. The above article in the USA Today discusses the impact of "militias" patrolling the protestors. Here's an excerpt of what one militia group, the Kenosha Guard, told the Kenosha police:

"We are mobilizing tonight and have about 3,000 RSVP’s. Our effort has made the national media. I ask that you do NOT have your officers tell us to go home under threat of arrest as you have in the past. We are willing to talk to KPD and open a discussion. It is evident, that no matter how many Officers, deputies and other law enforcement officers that are here, you will still be outnumbered.”

While the focus now is on Kenosha, what we are seeing being played out there between protestors, the police and now the interjection of a local militia is in fact the law enforcement's "worst fears", not only in Kenosha but all over the USA where local militias are prepared to take law enforcement into their own hands. We can expect more and more confrontations in states that have open carry of weapons. In states like Florida with stand your ground laws, it is an invitation to shoot a protestor. There is more to come when emotions (anger and hate) fueled by Trump and Republican rhetoric is running high. It is like interjecting "road rage incidents" into the middle of crowds. Nothing good can come of it.
