I think they regret their vote more than anyone.
It is my perception that they didn't think trump had any chance of being elected, and their votes (or lack of voting, or writing down "Homer Simpson") were intended to be protest votes to send a message to President-elect Hillary Clinton that democratic politics as usual was unacceptable, and as president she needed to make significant changes to win\earn their support.
If swing voters had been aware that trump had a realistic chance, they would have voted for Clinton without much hesitation. I don't blame them because nearly everyone in America, including trump was surprised by the election results.
ASIDE: it was not what he wanted, and what we have seen since is him being ticked off that he was elected. He wants out, but on his terms. If trump could have scripted it, he would have lost by 3 electoral votes (one state), and won the popular vote. Thus, claim he really won, and the system was rigged.
