Don't be surprised if Kelly runs for president. This is the guy that Americans who voted for trump wanted to elect. trump's base could easily\quick switch from trump to Kelly.

In this video he makes many good points, but be clear he is pulling his punches and deflecting all responsibility away from trump. If he were not the WH chief of staff, trump would have not liked what Kelley had to say about him.

I do agree that the congresswomen should have kept her mouth shut and stayed out of it. trump was already hanging himself on the issue and didn't need her. It is like someone helping an arsonist burn down a building. Why?

I do wonder if trump was doing his very best when he made those calls, but his very best remains pretty bad. As we have seen many times, trump has very poor empathy skills, so it should be obvious that anything he said to the gold star family would be shallow and lack any true understanding of sacrifice. Yet it was still the very best he could do. trump is like the inviting Sheldon Cooper to a funeral, and he says to the gold star family "He must not have been very smart, smart people avoid getting killed. Look at me, I'm still alive after all these years. I am so smart, I might live forever!".

We know trump is extremely unqualified to be president, so we shouldn't be suprised that anything he says or does, SUCK!, even when he doing his very best, and\or being sincere when talking to a gold star family.

Kelly made an ass out of himself by defending Trump. He scolded an "black" Democratic representative who was befriended with the mourning family. He's also unsuited for he job, just as Trump. Generals do not belong in these functions. Just as Kelly said he only checks and regulates the incoming mail; nothing else. Trump has all the freedom to play the biggest ass in history; not one General will blink; they only know the word "loyalty" and "obedience" He was sent by Trump to "fix" his stupidity and said "yes Sir" as an military robot. Everything Trump touches ends up in chaos; ask any "brain" surgeon. Yes this whole government is non-functional and remains so if you put Generals or Surgeons (Carson) in places where they don't belong. Let alone an "child like used car salesman" in the White House

Trump brought this whole mess upon himself due to his own incompetence. If he had sent out the letters of condolences on the first day and also had been open to the media, it would have passed. Instead he delays for who knows what reason, and then true to form he invokes Obama and past presidents as an excuse. That certainly invited the scrutiny.

Rachel Maddow had a good segment on Niger and why the US soldiers might have been ambushed. It goes back to Trump including Chad on his list of countries under his "immigration ban". Chad was an important friendly ally in the heart of Africa fighting the ISIS inspired terrorists in Niger. When Trump pulled the plug on Chad with his immigration ban for reasons as yet unknown (some say a knee jerk reaction not supported by his military staff) then Chad immediately decided to pull their troops out of Niger in response, leaving the US and European troops unsupported by the Chadian troops who better understand the logistics and people, and who also provide critical intelligence.

Putting Chad on the immigration ban list was an affront to the Chad government and may have been directly responsible for the surprise attacks on the US soldiers by the ISIS or Al Qaeda group responsible. Very, very short sighted on Trump's part and goes to his overall incompetence.

That congresswoman has been a friend of that family for a very long time. He knew the soldier as a child. She was in the car , the call was on speaker phone. She had every right to speak about the experience .

The general went to great lengths today, to attack a woman of color , to defend the fat idiot . Today we learned that Gen Kelly is just another idiot in the criminal cabal occupying our government.

    I hope Meuller is watching.

Kelly sure is loyal. He wouldn't say shit if he had a mouthful of the stuff. I'd be curious to know what Obama said to him in the manner of condolences at that dinner for deceased vets.

When my uncle died, my mother received a letter of condolences, an American flag, and this was many, many years after he had served in the army. It was a nice gesture from President Carter.

While it might be only my perception, I do believe trump was "trying" to do his job the best he could during the phone call, but his best is very very bad, just like everything else he does as president.

Not suggesting he should be praised for making an effort. My point is that even when he "Tries" to do the right thing, he does it so very badly because he lacks the skills\experience\empathy\knowledge to do the job.

Yesterday, Kelly claimed conversations between the president and widows - widowers or loved ones are secret conversations. Evidently, Kelly does not know the difference between what's classified, sensitive, secret, top secret or confidential because it is against military and DOD policy or laws to discuss secret matters over a non secure (cell phone) methods. Evidently, the president does not know the difference either. If these conversations are indeed classified as secret, then both the president and Kelly were in violation of federal laws governing transmission of classified material.

5 CFR 1312.28 - Transmission of classified material.

(a)Transmittal of Top Secret material. The transmittal of Top Secret material shall be by personnel specifically designated by the EOP Security Officer, or by Department of State diplomatic pouch, by a messenger-courier system specifically created for that purpose. Alternatively, it shall be taken to the White House Situation Room for transmission over secure communications circuits.

(b)Transmittal of Secret material. The transmittal of Secret material shall be as follows:

    (1) Within and between the fifty States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico: Use one of the authorized means for Top Secret material, or transmit by U.S. Postal Service express or registered mail.

The most ridiculous part of it, I found the statement: How do people dare to question an four star General (they don't lie)

Sorry they lie like everyone else. This has shown what an weaklings these Generals are; they crawl up Trumps butt as all the people without backbone or morals. I fear that they neither can stop him from pushing the "nuke" button.

What a country run by idiots.

"The one thing I was always told is you absolutely have to tell truth to power. Whether you're a second lieutenant working with a captain and a lieutenant colonel, or a four-star general working with the Office Secretary of Defense and the White House, the decision makers have got to have ground truth." -- John F. Kelly

John Kelly has worked hard to cultivate his image as a good no nonsense "truth telling" soldier, but he has his weaknesses. Does he share a certain animosity towards women of color just like his boss as Lawrence O'Donnell suggested on his show? Perhaps.

We also know as well from past comments that he doesn't have a high regard for the law makers in Washington. Perhaps there was something that Rep Wilson had said in a prior speech that he remembered and confused. Her signature cowboy hat would make her stand out and be remembered. The hat in itself could be seen as a means of "show boating" for someone like Kelly.

But as many media sources have now shown, John Kelly had his facts very wrong in castigating Rep. Wilson. The Washington Post has an editorial stating that Kelly owes Rep Wilson an apology. John Kelly is the news on Friday and now the whole weekend of Saturday and Sunday Talk shows. It will weigh heavily on his mind.

For someone that prides himself on telling the truth it is hard to understand his out of character tirade against Rep Wilson. His image has been tarnished, and the best thing he could do is go on the Sunday talk shows and apologize from the heart...sincerely like he spoke about the death of his son.

Will that happen? Or will he let the White House staffers and Trump continue to double down on their concocted fake story?

Kelly may privately realize that he was "set up" by White House staffers (e.g. decision makers) to do Trump's dirty work again to bail out another lie. But will he have the guts to admit it publically? To do so will go against his boss, and one thing you can say about Kelly --he is a good loyal soldier who follows orders.

So will he make a showing on one or more Sunday talk shows to do damage control? I think so.

I think he should; also the other Generals because they likely have promised "loyalty to Trump"

No, the President has not pushed the "button"; how come there is an huge atomic dust cloud hovering above N.K.?

    Lying has become the norm.
