Kapernick is being funded by Nike. Trumpster sheep are burning shoes and doing the sheepish activities. Many are making supportive comments. It's been a page 3 story but tonight is the first game of the NFL season and their commercial will make what I think is a real and positive statement.

America is full of haters who want to bash this man. After you spend 30 seconds and explain that he doesn't hate America, our military, or our flag... you will get a confused expression. When you advise it is a peaceful protest about racial injustice and how disproportionate numbers of people are arrested, jailed or killed. You get a blank stare and an urgent search for an exit.

Nobody will address the actual problem. Game starts in about 70 minutes. Controversy will follow. Hopefully more make intelligent comments and speak about the problem. Nike appears to be making a stand. I hope their actions are ultimately rewarded.

A peaceful protest has cost him his NFL career. I believe\hope that at some point in history there will be a statue made of him kneeling as national symbol of what this country is, or should be, at the very core. Such a statue will also represent someone who was a strong american during a very sad point in US history. Someone who was specifically targeted by the US president.

As far as Nike is concerned, they may loose business from racists and trump's base, but Nike would likely win over everybody else, most importantly minorities. so they loose 1$ white dollar for ever $10 they gain in a surge of minority customers who like the fact that Nike is standing behind Kapernick...If nothing else, its smart business.

Kaepernick taking a silent respectful knee is a salute to the flag calling attention to the people that wave the flag to take attention away from all the abuses they do in the name of the flag.

    Feel the Burn:

Thanks for joining us. As you can tell by the number of responses to your post, Kaepernick is definitely a hot topic, and one that continues to evolve>

I published the article below in January of 2018, but I have had to revise it numerous times due to additions to the story:

Arizona Public Safety Director Col. Frank Mistead posted a tweet on Wednesday night that took another look at the story, and I will have to admit that I agree with his thoughts as well.

The picture is of Officer Tyler Edenhofer, who was killed in the line of duty in this summer.

it is like putting the US flag at half mast out of respect for minorities that have endured injustice.

I may be liberal but I can't stand what he is doing. When I was a young lad I was told to always respect the flag and those who lost their lives for her. I was told to remove my cap n stand at attention n not utter a word to honor those who gave everything for our nation.

All gave some, some gave all.

The Chicago Bears could have used Collin Kaepernick last night.
