"A Better Deal: Better Skills, Better Jobs, Better Wages”

Right on. In view of Trump's war against the classes I see this as the DNC talking to the people and presenting an issue for the midterms. It directly challenges Trump's "lots of good paying jobs".

I hope you are right. We seem to have a very negative image as a party. Trying to reach out and communicate to voters is where we should start. I would love to see the top guy at the DNC have not less than a dozen town hall meetings where he spoke but mostly listened to folks. N. Dakota, Montana, Texas, Arkansas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Maine, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, and Nevada are my suggestions for a starting point.

Minnesota, Utah, Arizona, Louisiana, Mississippi, Michigan, Indiana, North Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, and Illinois are more where we should spend 24 hours listening and taking suggestions.

Don't consider California or New York. Try to start a dialogue with those who don't always vote blue. My bet is that most would be shocked that any liberals even want their ideas or opinions.

Otherwise the downward spiral will continue.

I think Fox news has corrupted the minds of too many but we need to reclaim the discussion and share our ideas in an attempt to find common ground. 15 months and the clock never stops ticking.

A listening tour. What a novel idea.

Ezra Klein, Vox, July 11, 2016:Understanding Hillary

When Klein interviewed Hillary Clinton's staffers, colleagues, friends, and foes, there was one answer that there was near unanimity in describing her.

"Hillary Clinton, they said over and over again, listens."

A good message from democrats to Trump voters: Don't forget which party expanded Medicaid and gave you healthcare which you didn't have before Obamacare!

Bill Moyer and his remarks about the new Democratic message. Everything that's wrong with the party. Read and respond or stick your head back in the sand.

This was actually written by someone else, but it's still an interesting piece. However, I disagree with much of it.

Populism is a powerful force, but it's a force that is often quite detrimental to a society.

I like Representative Ellison and Senator Sanders, but their form of populism is an anathema to millions of Americans, especially the Americans the Democratic Party must win over if we ever want to run the country again. That's why I've always said that Bernie would be a great Governor.

Free college! is a great slogan, but how do we expect to make that a reality? Great jobs for everyone! is a great slogan, but what specific proposals do the Democrats have to actually make sure everyone has a great job? The reason they don't have those answers is because it's damn near impossible to do so.

Free college for everyone would require a massive tax increase. Great jobs for everyone would require massive investments in job training (via tax increases). The list can go on and on and on.

I'm all for figuring out a way to make sure we have the most highly educated country in the world, but that requires massive investments that the American people have just shown no appetite for.

Legislating is hard. The Executive is only one part of a coequal branch of governance in this country. And most - if not all - politics are local.

No Jared, you keep seeing the US through colored glasses. Do as they do in Europe; great education (otherwise I would not be able to write English!) and all free. The cost is paid due to an proper tax system in where the rich pay their fair share up to 70%; furthermore they don't spent it on wars or war industry as much as we do, or start wars all over. Socialistic systems have priority there, not spending it on jails either (they are closing jails there; here they are building more jails) It is the whole picture here what is the making of an "banana republic" Why has this country an zillion lawyers, who all have to be paid. etc. What is done here for the people? The priorities here are wrong; that is the problem. Only money counts; not happiness and health; even the doctors here rip you off.

They need to reach the 42% of the electorate that does not vote. Who are these people ?

But the party is whole owned by the neo liberal money lenders. The oil corporations , the military industrial complex. They have a stranglehold on our healthcare system. That enslaves us all. You have to be in the system , a private corporate system , that makes rules governing your life completely. You have to play their game , you have no choice. That's who the Democrats are. They are the corporation who own you.

But they are benevolent masters. We need them .

That's what they want you to think. That we need them.

A strong intelligent party would be speaking often, clearly, and decisively. Leave the dems to cowering under their rock. They're scared of that loud wacky president. SMH.

They are thinking of the easiest path to get another 1.2 billion dollars to spend. I'll bet a lot of that money was used to improve the well being of some zDNC staffers. That 1.2 billion would be 3.5 million dollars a day to spend. I would like to see the point of sale spending accounting. I think that is what has the DNC occupied.
