Occationally I tune into the far right media just to listen to what is being reported and I'm amazed at how they spin the news to the point it is Fake News. They maybe factually correct, but its taking the facts they like, and omitting facts they don't like.

Today on Hannity he reported that congress is about to appoint a special prosecutor to re-open the email scandal from last summer, and also charge Comey for leaking documents. He made it sound as this course of action had already been decided by the federal goverment. It truly was alternate reality. None of what he said is going to happen, what is true is that Trump wants those things to happen and is pushing the AG to investigate. As nation, we are not going legally procecute those who lose an election despite Trumps efforts to win the 2016 election all over again in 2017.

The only way I can handle watching\listening to far right media is by using my Tivo. I truly can't handle more than a few minutes at a time. Its like listening to people who think the moon landing was faked, and point at shadows in pictures of the moon as evidence that it never happened.

It used to be the Fox News was "all in" for Trump and Republicans. Now Trump's base at Fox News seems to largely be Sean Hannity and the idiots on Fox and Friends. Chris Wallace, their anchor, seems to have moved away from Trump.

I seldom tune into Fox News anymore, but when I do it is more out of curiosity about how they are handling a particular news item. In some cases, as wwjd says, it is noteworthy by the fact an important topic is deliberately not being covered.

Their levels of hate are insane. This is bad not only for the political arena but for the world. Disagree with us and we will ruin you. Not just defeat you but drag you down in every conceivable way while we lie and exaggerate the facts and details. This must be on the boarder of insanity.

I saw that there is an lawsuit related to that Fox news together with the White House did publish false statements. I just wonder why just for one issue, because Fox does it all the time.

Furthermore the tie up of Fox and Sinclair as well The Bannon club (Breitbard) as well evangelical media, makes this an huge "block" of deceiving media which Trump and his cronies love.

Thus it will not be easy to fight all of this unless we get an "normal" President.

I read this morning that Sean Hannity owns something like 870 homes (through a shell corporatiin), and that at least some of those have mortgages that are guaranteed by HUD. Since the original purpose of the HUD program was to help people without a lot of money buy a house, it seems that allowing a man making $36 million a year to use the program seems to be an abuse of the program. However, if you read the requirements of the program, his loans are apparently legitimate.

It's no wonder that he told Ben Carson that "he was doing a fine job" when he was on his program a while back:

You know, I'm glad you resurrected this thread. Since Hannity may be guilty of operation shell companies, it makes some of wonder if Cohen, and Trump are involved in operating the same? Maybe that's why Trump has been so protective of his attorney, it is possible all have something to hide or something they do not wish made public. We all know that Trump operated a fake university and collected money from people who were to attend, that case has recently been settled.

"A federal judge finalized the $25 million settlement between President Trump and students of his now shuttered Trump University"

When I re-read your original thread this afternoon, I noticed that you referred to the fact that some people still think that the moon landing was faked. As near as I can tell, that group of people is as much as 20% of our population. The moon landing, of course, is not the only wacky idea that some of our fellow Americans believe to be true. Here are a few more examples:

    http://tohell-andback.blogspot.com/2018/04/the-moon-landing-was-faked-version-2.html

I'd recommend watching the video about the hermit of Loreto because (1) it claims that a man named Thomas Zimmer predicted in the 1980's that Trump would be elected president, and "lead our nation back to God and (2) it claims that 4 angels transported a house from Jerusalem to Croatia OVERNIGHT, and then moved it 3 more times to its final resting place in Loreto.

It's called propaganda. And it works. It's terrifying and its real. It's been here now since Fox news came on the air . Since don rumsfeld killed the fairness doctine. And the rule that All Media Be Locally Owned And Serve The Local Market.

Yes that wasn't he law before asshole rumsfeld was given the authority to destroy our nation by Ron reagon after he undermined our country by treason colution with the iranan terrorist and gave them weapons of mass destruction they later used to kill Americans, and then welcomed Rupert Murdock to build the great propaganda machine we now suffer.

    And there you have it

As far as maturity and self-awareness, we (society) are still very much children, and in couple hundred years, our ancestors will look back and see a lot of absurdity and immaturity, much like we look back out our own history of 1600s - 1800s. As just one example, in the past there was perception that Witches were 100% a reality, yet today we know such things do not exist, and ever have existed. We know now have a much better idea of mental illness and other reasons that cause people behave irrationally.

As the classic question: Who is more ignorant\dangerous, the leader with bad and unhealthy ideas, or the people that follow without questioning?"

One person, such as trump, could be evaluated and determined to suffer from one or more mental illnesses. And as we have discussed in these forums, its likely trump does have mental heath problems that causs him to make very bad decisions for anyone other than himself, but that does not explain the 30%-35% of the people who believe that every single thing he says or does is coming from a master genius that can do no wrong. They don't see him as unstable and\or mentally ill, they see him as their savor that will correct everything that is wrong in their personal lives, and wrong with our national, and wrong with the entire world. For his base, trump never does anything wrong, they "have faith" there is a method to his madness (lying, serially cheater, blaming the victim, etc), even though they can't explain he behaves more like con artist trying to sell them worst car on parking lot, than ethical man striving to good. Somehow all the he does that is wrong\bad\unethical by normal standards, is perceived by them them as being signs of a savory.

    Trump base = cult.

About a year ago, veteran broadcaster Ted Koppel interviewed Sean Hannity, and told him that he was bad for America:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2017/03/27/veteran-newsman-ted-koppel-tells-sean-hannity-hes-bad-for-america/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.08691d5edb82

The key sentence in the entire interview was this one:

Koppel: “You have attracted people who are determined that ideology is more important than facts.”

We need a lot more people like Ted Koppel, but it IS refreshing to hear long term FOX employee Shep Smith offer his opinion from time to time. He joined FOX in 1996, and serves as the channel's chief news anchor and as managing editor of the breaking news division.

Koppel is too professional to call it by name, but he suggesting trump's base is a cult.
