I think most voters believe he is guilty of something, including his base. His base probably doesn't care what he is guilty of, so when it is revealed what he has been hiding, they will say "so what".
It's highly likely he has done a lot shady business with Russia over the years, and he currently has questionable loans that never need to be repaid. And I would not be surprised that it was Russians that encouraged him to run for president, not anticipating he would win the jack pot by being elected, but to be the Russian's attack dog inside the US political system (the bull in the china shop), going after elected officials\candidates that the Russians dislike. If we want to make this into a large conspiracy, it could be added that the Russians encourage Trump to promote the whole birther issue to undercut Obama for years.
Off Shore banker: "Mr. Trump, we have good news, your $500 million loan has been approved. There is one final request, the backers of this loan have a very special and private request, they would like you to..."
There is a realistic alternative to all this; Trump is nothing more than a very stupid political MF'er, and there is nothing to any of this other than he is just the dumbest SOB to be elected president. The emperor has no clothes. He is Dr. Smith that bumbled his way onto Jupiter 2, then proceeds to fuck everyone over.
Whatever Trump's value\role is to the Russians, its safe to conclude they have found the perfect insider stooge. Hell, they might not be telling him to do anything because he wrecking everything just being a total political moron.
