Occupy Democrats: Dad Of Fallen SEAL Just Demanded Investigation Of Trump’s Reckless Order That Killed His Son

"William Owens, the father of the Navy Seal William “Ryan” Owens, who was killed in President Trump’s disastrous January 25 raid in Yemen, wants answers.

“Why at this time did there have to be this stupid mission when it wasn’t even barely a week into his administration? Why?” he asked. “For two years prior, there were no boots on the ground in Yemen — everything was missiles and drones — because there was not a target worth one American life. Now, all of a sudden we had to make this grand display?”

“Don’t hide behind my son’s death to prevent an investigation,” Owens’ father remarked. “I want an investigation. … The government owes my son an investigation.”

As we know, Donald Trump has declared this raid a success. Thus far, it doesn't appear that Trump is going to entertain an investigation that he called a success. That would be admitting he lied.

The SEAL who was killed in this raid was from my small hometown of Peoria, Illinois, which makes his death personal for me.

I am glad his dad is speaking out and letting Donald know that his "shoot first, ask question later" motto has real world consequences. There's a reason President Obama refused to order this operation. It's because he understood that failure was a very real option.

It's so interesting (and rather depressing) thinking about how Donald supporters would have reacted if this raid was ordered by President Obama or if Secretary Clinton had won the election. Special investigations would be ordered by the Congress. Calls for impeachment would be deafening.

All we hear from Donald supporters now is crickets. Nothing to see here folks. Let's move on with no questions asked. This shows us that Donald supporters are the biggest hypocrites in the world.

Shoot first, ask questions later aka ready, fire, aim.

Our continued and, imo, soon to be escalated, war for the greater Middle East will see no more success than we have seen for decades. For every occasional battle "won" there is increased chaos, destroyed economies, more violent politics cloaked in religion and more corrupt politicians supported.

Actually, Trump so far seems to be following the same course of action in Syria and Iraq as Obama. Except he's now bragging about doing even more...perhaps more risk taking. I suppose the Yemen raid was part of that "more".

The generals he has put in charge do not think much differently than the previous generals in charge. The only difference is the commander-in-chief wants results quickly so he can brag about another campaign promise fulfilled. Hence more botched Yemen raids can be expected, unless he takes it as a lesson learned. The lesson can only be learned, however, if we investigate and admit why the raid was botched. If Trump sincerely believes that the raid was an absolute success, then the lesson has not been learned.

has any US citizens or soldiers died under 8 years of Obama? any in Yemen ?

military action = soldiers die .......... if you complained about it with Obama then yes, you can complain it with Trump. If you never bashed Obama for everyone who died under him, then you can't bash Trump.

    Stay consistent

For me it has more to do with the inconsistencies and sheer hypocrisy of Donald supporters.

As I pointed out earlier - if this happened under Obama or if Clinton had won then the right would be up in arms calling for special investigations and impeachment, but they turn a blind eye to Donald ordering a disastrous raid because they can't ever criticize their dear leader.

And I encourage you to look back throughout the past eight years. There's been plenty of debate on this website and countless other liberal websites over the Obama Administrations military doctrine. Unlike Donald supporters, we are no monolith when it comes to national security issues.

NBC News quoting Pentagon officials reports that the botched raid in Yemen has so far yielded "no significant intelligence".

This is in contradiction to Trump's assertion that the intelligence material gathered was worth the price of a Navy Seal, a lost helicopter and some 20-30 civilians deaths including several children.

Now Trump is shifting the blame to the generals as well as Obama. He is the Commander-in Chief who ordered the raid while enjoying dinner with his son-in-law Jared Kushner, Steve Bannon, Secretary Jim Mattis and Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr. The generals do share much of the blame as they told Trump that it would be a “game changer” if the raid was successful and that Obama would not have been “bold enough” to make the move. Trump said he would trust his generals and that he did.

If this was Obama he would have asked tons of questions before doing the raid. That's what he did on the successful raid that got bin Laden. Trump on his first time on the big stage didn't know what questions to ask. He was more focused on the glory and that his nemesis, Barack Obama, was not bold enough to do that kind of a raid.

I guess people are also forgetting what this "adventure" did cost besides an lost "life'.Plus $80 million for the Osprey plane. I wished I had that money. Yes this is the worst "commander in chief" you can imagine. He also wants to increase the quantity of "nukes". We should cut his hands off so he can't push the button.

same standards I apply - one US soldier death is one too many way too often

hey, at least Trumps administration didn't blame it on a video tape and told the truth, and Trump was there for the fallen soldier

its the presidency - we have conflicts in multiple countries, men and women are going to die. Personally I hope he pulls many back and let those countries deal with their own themselves

    From Trump;s address to Congress:

We are blessed to be joined tonight by Carryn Owens, the widow of a U.S. Navy Special Operator, Senior Chief William “Ryan” Owens. Ryan died as he lived: a warrior, and a hero –- battling against terrorism and securing our Nation.

I just spoke to General Mattis, who reconfirmed that, and I quote, “Ryan was a part of a highly successful raid that generated large amounts of vital intelligence that will lead to many more victories in the future against our enemies.” Ryan’s legacy is etched into eternity. For as the Bible teaches us, there is no greater act of love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. Ryan laid down his life for his friends, for his country, and for our freedom –- we will never forget him.

Ryan's window received a prolonged applause as she looked up to ceiling fighting back tears. It was a genuine moment for her, but somehow it felt to me that Trump was using her to put across his political message. And no, the raid was not highly successful, and no it did not generate large amounts of vital intelligence. I am sure the truth around the circumstances of this botched raid will eventually come out as much as Trump, the con man, tries to bury it.

Schmidt Yes, Trump had a couple of props, that's what politicians do and he's learning the game quickly. I think all the fake news on how the Dad of the Seal is demanding this or that was squashed thoroughly last night, she seemed genuinely thankful people we applauding her husband's life

You do know that two people can have different opinions, right?

The father is on record as saying that he refused to meet Donald: "I told them I didn't want to make a scene about it, but my conscience wouldn't let me talk to him."

Do you understand the difference between fake news and news you just don't like? It's sad how you Donald supporters have termed anything you don't want to read or hear as fake news. Facts no longer matter anymore because your feelings are more important.

How is the soldier's father demanding an investigation fake news? Trump deals in fake news and always has. His entire career is based upon fake news which used to be called propaganda. Read about the thousands of lawsuits which he claims he doesn't settle even though records show that us exactly what he does.

Conservatives lie. That is all they have because their economic theology is failed, their exceptionalism belief structure has failed. Their attempts to enshrine religion as law in a secular government failed. We hear from conservatives that this is "what the American people want" when more American people voted in opposition to this vainglorious, arrogant, ignorant piece of flotsam and jetsam.
