In the movie "Being There" an imbecile becomes a high ranking political adviser. Its a comedy written with serious undertones.

It only reminds me of our political situation because its becoming more and more apparent that Trump's skills\understanding\experience of serious and complex issues is at a grade school level of political science, but the job requirements of being president is akin to someone who has graduated from college and has 20+ years of work experience in the field. Requirements apply to anyone who aspires to be president; its independent of their political views.

Yes this is reality, not an "movie". The total stupidity of this country is that there should be strict "laws" and "rules" about getting any such job. Thus "mandatory vetting" way ahead of any election. As well an stringent "mental health screening".

But yeah, I have to go through such, but not an President. This country is an total joke!!!

wwjd -- Thanks for sharing this. Yes we have many professions that require professional expertise and licensing or registration to demonstrate competence. Doctors, engineers, accountants, lawyers, pilots and more all require a certain level of education and experience before they can work. Likewise in blue collar fields like plumbers, electricians, welders, and other craftsman, certification is required before a person can legitimately work.

However, the most important and mentally demanding job in America, the president, doesn't require a physical or a mental capacity test. One would expect that the two parties and the media would be able to weed out the non-qualified people, but in this new age where we elect candidates based on emotions and tribes, and each tribe has its own media bubbles, then competency for the job and mental state take a back seat.

There has been talk of impeachment or removal via the 25th amendment. I still think that party loyalty will overrule any attempts to remove Trump from office...and especially so if Trump is moving forward on his agenda, which is also the Republican agenda. The Republicans have four years to accomplish what they want. However, if public opinion turns against them as well as Trump, it could be a different ballgame. It only takes three Republican senators to say no.

Then there are also the enablers.

MSN News: Trump campaign team showed him positive coverage to control Twitter habits: report

To keep Trump from putting out nasty tweets, his staff (the enablers) are endeavoring to show him only positive news of his events.

"President Trump's former campaign officials reportedly showed him positive news coverage in an attempt to control his Twitter habits.

"Politico reported that the president's former campaign staffers made sure that Trump's media consumption included praise in an effort to tamp down on his inflammatory tweets.

"He saw there was activity so he didn't feel like he had to respond," a former campaign official told Politico. "He sends out these tweets when he feels like people aren't responding enough for him."

"Former Trump adviser Sam Nunberg told the publication, "If candidate Trump was upset about unfair coverage, it was productive to show him that he was getting fair coverage from outlets that were persuadable.""

This is scary. They say they used news outlets like Breitbart News, the Washington Examiner, Fox News, Infowars and The Daily Caller to show Trump positive news coverage of his day. Hide the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, and any other news outlet that might be critical of Trump lest he go on a midnight tweet tirade.

The end of the trailer Sellers says he likes to watch TV. They imbeciled "I like to watch TV" to "I like to watch" and that is how Shirley had sex with him. He watched her.

But if you care to examine how that happened and he got to be elevated to power as in the case of Trump the imbecilic Sellers obviously distracted or attracted by something that caused people to not react to the obvious. As I have posted before as in the case of Trump that was charisma. Pure charisma is not charm or some nice pleasant feature. It is an unexplained compelling atttraction. Trump in spite of an obvious not designed to win campaign won the election. There are many credible sources, articles and arguments showing that Trump did not want to win. There have been other candidates with simarly non worldly beneficial ideas that were not successful. Trump shares the influence of charisma with other negative historical leaders. Unless and if the danger of charisma isn't understood and how to deal with it learned, the world will be at risk.

Yes, I caught this on Morning Joe. It was an interesting report because because it talked about how the adults in the room were trying to contain Trump much like parents might do to distract a young child that is throwing a tantrum: "Look over here! see the happy little bunny, he's not throwing things, he's thinking happy thoughts, let's go play with the happy bunny!"

someone on Morning Joe panel commented "And this is the most powerful guy in world who, at any time, can launch nuclear warheads, and he needs a team a nannies to keep him happy throughout the day so he doesn't go on a tweet rampage!"

At bit overstated, but there is a lot of truth to the fact he's a bit like child that needs to supervision to prevent him from doing serious damage. We have a president that needs to be supervised? WOW!

No, he's purely on an mission of revenge; he bullies everyone, because his daddy bullied him. His sport is not baseball, but creating hate; the more the better.
