Nothing more clearly illustrates how criminally dysfunctional and incompetent the U.S. Congress has become then the fact that the U.S. Congress has refused to impeach Trump on the grounds that he is mentally ill and incapable of dealing with reality since everything he says and does proves he believes all the illusions and lies he is speaking. Paranoia and loss of touch with reality are obvious symtoms.

Trump has already done a great deal of harm to the American people and to our allies.

This is no longer a political issue but the future well being of America, its institutions, and its people are at stake and Trump must be prevented from doing anymore harm because of his mental illnesses.

Connie; the ploy is to make this government branch "kaput", so he can revamp it to get more power. Then the next "branch will be tackled; once Corsuch is in place, then he has already more leverage. etc etc. His objective is TOTAL power. Forget the "branches" he'll find ways to get these in line with his objectives.

I am afraid you are correct. Why aren't the followers asking where is my piece ? Masterful Con man shows how to lie cheat and steal from over 300 million at once. The minions stare and do nothing.

Yes Tony; all the "other" things are pure deviation tactics to take the attention of what I wrote. Just wait till the healthcare thing is tabled; the mess will be enormous, which gives him a chance to tackle his main objective in the meantime.

Since there likely are not enough votes in the Senate to impeach Trump, the Democrats are unlikely to pass impeachment articles in the House. HOWEVER, history provides a very nice lesson on the new House majority can prevent Trump from doing any more damage:

I want to say that I agree with you that impeachment is unlikely, but we have zero idea what Democrats are going to find once the subpoenas start flying. Maybe they will discover something so damning that even Senate Republicans will finally fold. Or maybe they will dig hard for two years and come up with crickets because Donald actually wasn't a crook all along. I think the latter is not very likely, but who knows?!

What I'll be interested to see is what Republicans do when/if Democrats find something truly despicable. They all love Mike Pence more than Donald already, so why not get rid of Donald so they can work with Pence? You think Donald has been successful getting judges confirmed?! Just wait till a President Pence starts nominating them!

All of this is conjecture, but I think we're about to see just how strong Donald's grip on the Republican Party truly is once Democrats start running everything in the House. He no longer has both houses of Congress protecting him anymore. That can be a pretty dangerous thing for someone like Donald.

Richard Painter brought up something that has been in the back of my mind for sometime...that many Republicans in Congress have perhaps also been compromised by Putin and Trump. If Putin's agents can hack the DNC's website, who's to say they haven't hacked a whole bunch members of Congress e-mails or spied on them somehow. And maybe they're sharing any dirt they have dug up in the process with Trump to put leverage on Congressional members of both parties. Trump has even threatened as much in a tweet.

Remember that Republicans are ruthless...but the Putin and Russians go even further. Putin kills his enemies. Trump put in a corner is unpredictable. He'll sell his own country to protect himself. And that makes him very very dangerous.

My fear is, that since the elections the Senate got a couple more GOP seats, that the "clan" of McConnell is going to fight like hell and will use every dirty trick they can find to obstruct. Also if Jordan becomes their "speaker" then the "feast" will really become chaos.

The DNC is foundering without a cause. The biggest problem in the world is the control of the impoverished masses. The poor can be easily manipulated because they are analogous to people on death row. The evil people in the world get power by manipulating the desperate condition of the Poor. The DNC elected Trump by not recognizing Trumps appeal to the disenchanted deprived deserted citizens with the promise of lots of good paying jobs and make America great again. When I pointed his out in early 2015 I was opposed by people defending Obama's record pointing out how he redirected a country on the Brink of disaster after 2008. Nobody wanted to admit 40 years of stagnated wages or lack of good paying jobs. Celebrating a lackluster midterm after early tantalising predictions of a Blue tsunami show an irreverent acquiescence to big money while denying most of the people in this country are one major medical bill away from disaster. Who can afford 20,000 dollar copays on the new miracle drugs? All the quadrillions of dollars tied up in non jobs producing schemes needs to be spent on producing goods for sale. Usury is now good business instead of an abomination.

Here is an example of modern idiocy in illigical college teaching. A few years a kid working for me was excited in telling me about his economics class. He told me how his economics professor explained the wisdom of taking savings and paying off high interest credit cards. I explained how that only made sense for people with sustained discretionary money. For most of the people in the USA paying off credit cards with savings means that in a short time high interest credit cards will be maxed out again and what savings they used to pay off credit cards is lost forever. The world needs full employment to reach world peace.
