Huffington Post, Steve Bannon Believes The Apocalypse Is Coming And War Is Inevitable

The HP leads with a short video clip of Steve Bannon's pronouncements over a period of time about his apocalyptic worldview of the "great fourth turning in America history". You can read the summary, but the video in his own voice is more vivid. Bannon is "Trump's brain".

In Bannon’s view, we are in the midst of an existential war, and everything is a part of that conflict. Treaties must be torn up, enemies named, culture changed. Global conflagration, should it occur, would only prove the theory correct. For Bannon, the Fourth Turning has arrived. The Grey Champion, a messianic strongman figure, may have already emerged. The apocalypse is now.

We’re gonna have to have some dark days before we get to the blue sky of morning again in America,” Bannon warned in 2010. “We are going to have to take some massive pain. Anybody who thinks we don’t have to take pain is, I believe, fooling you.”

“This movement,” he said in November, “is in the top of the first inning.”

    Kind of scary, huh?

And he walks free. The law should prescribe a maximum figure any one person can have. Some people have a lot of money and think that is because they are "chosen". Then they act that way.

Chet -- Sheesh. This thread is about Bannon's worldview and his belief in the coming apocalypse. FYI Steve Bannon's net worth has been estimated at $10 million... not the billions of Trump's cabinet post nominees.

You seem more concerned with Bannon's wealth than his apocalyptic vision of the path that he is leading America down. Here's another extract from the HP article:

"The “Judeo-Christian West is collapsing,” he went on. “It’s imploding. And it’s imploding on our watch. And the blowback of that is going to be tremendous.”

"War is coming, Bannon has warned. In fact, it’s already here."

    What me worry?

Mr. Bannon is wrong. The Judeo-Christian West is not collapsing. What is collapsing is the politico-economic theology espoused by free market libertarians as they desperately attempt to shore up and solidify the consolidation state. Unfortunately those same forces contribute to both corruption and under-development. Those twin problems move psychological reactions causing people in the developing or rather not allowed to develop world to embrace charlatanism in the form of religion-cloaked violent politics. Add in the lack of democratic institutions in the not allowed to develop world as well as portions of the former eastern bloc and former USSR and you have a great recipe for social upheaval, violent social upheaval. No amount of apocalyptic rhetoric from diseased minds like Bannon's can change the fact that what he fears directly derives from what he seeks to protect or worse what he seeks to bring into being. Utopia never existed. Bannon can neither bring it back nor birth it. He is Robespierre or worse, Rasputin.

I would love to see 8 Trump supporters periodically interviewed for 8 minutes. This happened this week. What do you think ? Surprised , troubled, concerned ? Maybe each Monday morning on MSNBC. This story is crazy in my opinion. Maybe painting an ugly picture makes the sheep continue to feel they need protection.

Tony and Lonely; yes I fully agree. Until now the "fear" factor is the slogan of the Trump administration. Fear keeps them huddled down, so they can then become the "saviors" . But I still think that the objective is to create an " dictatorship" with only "one" party as well eradicate the Constitution. The tools to do so are already in place, looking at what already happened. No "real" vetting of the guy "no tax" returns, no respect for Government lawyers; thinking that he has un-limited authority; scolding everyone etc. Bannon will "help" as much he can to create "chaos" which will help Trump reach his goal. So I hope that some "fully awake" lawyers will stand up to impeach these guys.

Seems that the Pope is on his "bad" list. That should help our international image. I hope very much that the parties who've been subjected to their ways can organize or coordinate their opposition.

Wow; it gets crazier by the day; I wonder what Pence is thinking; he's an fanatic Catholic. May be he agrees and would like to put "witches" and "gays" back on the bonfire. I've got the feeling that the whole GOP wants the "1600 hundreds" back like the inquisition of the Catholic church.

According to Wikipedia, Pence was a catholic in his early adulthood, but converted to a Born Again Christian after meeting his future wife in college.

And yes, many Republicans and Bannon in particular are not that thrilled with the Pope....too socialist.

Well your forecast is more optimistic than Steve Bannon's. From the above HP article:

"Major crises “happen in about 80- or 100-year cycles,” Bannon told a conference put on by the Republican women’s group Project GoPink that same year. “And somewhere over the next 10 or 20 years, we’re going to come through this crisis, and we’re either going to be the country that was bequeathed to us or it’s going to be something that’s completely or totally different.”"
