Had dinner at a friend's house last night. Two of their kids were home for Xmas. Both had full scholarships and graduated with high honors in engineering. One EE and the other PhD in Chemical. Both were knowledgeable in high frequency trading, algorithmic front running and market valuation. I wanted to talk about Tesla's wireless power transmission. They talked about water rights and buying rural acerage.

I've known the family over 20 yesrs. The mother and kids are quietly brilliant. 4 kids and the cruised through school with perfect grades. All received full scholarships wherever they happened to pick. I know of Purdue, Rollins, Florida State and Crannert School of Business. They alked about living off the grid. Concerned about what to do with their money. One did doctorate from Perdue and the other got a BS from Florida State. The bachelors degree is starting at 85k and was heavily approached by fund sales agents. Don't know what the PhD published in analytical Chemistry makes. The grandparents have a large land trust so I guess they are following that lead. Neither has a desire for money managers but the chemist expressed some interest in self managing personal investments. Their mom wanted me to show them as getting late and some were going to church and I was missing the dogs. Might get a chance to talk before they leave,

I wish them well. Interesting to see what becomes important to them and what choices (and why) they make.

Im having a difficult time figuring what this rambling, meaningless post is all about Chet. Can you enlighten us a bit more - was it just a case of boredom and too much xmas cheer?

The title was about what recent graduates had to say. They are verifiable brilliant graduating with highest honors from FSU and Purdue. The conversation was unguided and casual on purpose. I was curious to hear how and what they thought. These two kids could have gone to virtually any school with full scholarships. I tried to get that across in the post. I am always posting from my phone while working so I might lose continuity or not present complete foundation for the post although I am thinking it. But I get valuable insight from the reactions.

Ok, that makes a lot more sense.
