Can anybody spare a marching band ? It seems that the pres. Elect is not so popular. Ted Nugent and Kid Rock may be on board but if you can't make better choices you just might be depl. Ah forget it. Those who can make choices seem to think there are better choices. Sure, he'll probably pull in heavy weights like Scott Baio and Kanye West.

An alternative Event is being discussed. Money raised would go to various groups and most importantly the world can not pay too much attention to the man child - wannabe dictator.

I think it should be a telethon to raise money and awareness.

Tony, I guess I will shut off the T.V. on that day and sit in an corner of my garage and cry; it is certainly not an day to be proud of America.

Trump is seeing the blowback of the vitriol of his campaign rhetoric. He panders to different people to try sway them back, but they know he is the same Trump. Of course, he might go to Nashville and hire a bunch of country singers and bands to appeal to his base. However, even Garth Brooks turned him down. Ted Nugent, I suppose is always available, but maybe he doesn't want to be considered the "singer of last resort".

I suggest he get some home grown rural ordinary folks from rural America. They can sing gospel songs and square dance. It would be consistent with his messaging to these folks.

The last I read Ted Nugent and Kid Rock are the only "stars" officially slated to perform at Donald's inauguration. Nothing like having an overt racist and an early aughts has been as the "main events."

It's funny watching Donald's team try to downplay this because it's obviously getting under his skin that nobody likes him. He's a sociopath who craves adoration and probably can't understand why no celebrities want to shower him with praise in front of a national audience.

It surely would, but he doesn't care about them. He only used ordinary folk from rural America to get elected and his cabinet picks are reflective of that fact.

Well, we will now find out if Trump is vindictive or not when the funding for the National Endowment of Arts comes across his desk. I can't remember the last time this much attention was attributed to this event,I have watched the swearing - in and listened to the subsequent speeches before but never much paid attention to the various Balls and the entertainment that was supplied.

Rockette's being told they must perform. People don't want to see Kid Rock. It is being suggested that they pay for talent. Trump will promise to, then not pay. Loser !

Trump will use anybody or anything to get his way. Remember the article about Roy Cohn being Trump's hero mentor. Until he got sick and died from aids.

Yesterday it was reported that they have an "A list" performing artist / band. The Beach Boys with their one original member have signed on. To think that this was considered news worthy is sad. Social media was not kind on the topic.

Singer Rebecca Ferguson has been invited to perform at Trump's inauguration. She has accepted but with one condition: She gets to sing “Strange Fruit, ” a song originally recorded by Billie Holiday in 1939 about racial injustice in America.

“Strange Fruit” features lyrics that paint a disturbing picture of lynching victims: “Southern trees bear strange fruit / Blood on the leaves and blood at the root / Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze / Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.”

She writes that her choice of songs “speaks to all the disregarded and down trodden black people in the United States.”

Will Trump allow her to sing that song at his inauguration? If so, how will that go over with the white racist element in his entourage of passionate supporters, those who salute him with the Nazi salute?

Won't raise the minimum wage says it all. Trump thinks people, all people, no matter what their status thinks they are worth whatever he can get away with paying. That should be a message to everybody to stay away. Trump has no values or respect. He decides. Nobody should do anything for him unless they get paid the opposite of what he thinks they are worth.

I hope that all Democrats boycot this inauguration; we all should turn off our T.V's and cell phones. Also if Obama has an "backbone" he should refuse to hand over "power" to an totally unsuited shoot from the hip candidate, as he himself said. If he does, then he's also partly responsible that this country will go down the drain in an hurry.

Okay I wrote a blog article on the Mormon Choir that I originally was going to post on this thread, but decided it would get buried quickly. I had to also be careful to not offend any Mormons as I have done in the past when I raise criticism of their church's culture. While all organized religions have an authoritarian element, I think that from what I have studied about the Mormons, they are rather extreme in that regard. Obedience of members is expected.

So I was surprised and delighted to read about Jan Chamberlin's protest. Personally I don't expect the Mormon church to cave, but I did enjoy reading the many comments, probably many from ex-Mormons critical of the church. They echoed many of my own sentiments. The Mormon church much like other religions is in need of some introspective analysis of just what they are selling. Are they more of a money making business or do they provide spiritual needs for their followers. Jan Chamberlin obviously is of the latter, but she is sounding more like a lone voice in a religion that has lost its way.

And with that I am sure I have offended the obedient followers once again.
