If they're poor they're not technically people. Medicare may remain because perhaps seniors vote more faithfully than the poor. Article suggests Medicaid may be cut early on.

Tony, it is quit simple; the millionaires and billionaires don't need health care; thus why should we?? The whole Trump gang only wants to own things for themselves and make some more money from the same "industry" who rips us off on our our healthcare. Did you look lately at your "pills" and "doctors" cost. It is an total "rip off" system. Like Bernie said we are an third world country related to "healthcare"; in Europe "everyone" is covered. Instead here the Trump clan wants to make it even worse than it was.Unbelievable what an backwards country.

I can't hardly wait to see the new and improved GOP HC bill, Trump told people today or yesterday in Pennsylvania that pre-existing conditions would be covered, oh boy, that's great, what will it cost the patient? Wait a minute, let me sit down before they tell me, I want to brace myself for more BS.

Pre existing won't happen. He knows it's important so he will say it's alright then - look a unicorn (insert various distractions) ..... No I never said previously existing is covered, I said it would be important to do the right thing, blah, blah. Coverage is important if you care about a patient. He doesn't and never will.

I know he's a liar, if the GOP leaders even try to introduce a pre-existing condition thing into their version of health care, I'm sure the 23 freedom caucus nuts will revolt again. As long as the GOP controls the house and senate, we may never see any kind of ACA repeal. In a way that's sort of a good thing, but I am concerned about what next year's premiums and deductibles will look like from marketplace insurers in my state. Both at the present time are nearly unbearable for a working class person earning less than $15K a year.

As long as they can't wriggle the money from it destined for the "rich" then this whole thing will stay unacceptable.

    Up to the following disaster.

Jimmy Kimmel was on television last night around 11:30. Usually laughing and funny, but he was in tears. He spoke of a serious heart condition his very young son was dealing with. He spoke of the necessity of affordable health care to protect your loved ones. This was one man's serious story but I very much hope the message was spread far and wide. Sadly I can't post video from my phone. Poignant.

Me thinks Jimmy Kimmel has insurance enough or money enough to cover his son's expenses. The rest of us peons will have to visit emergency rooms, be charged exorbitant fees, and when we cannot pay (either eat or starve and become homeless as a result) we'll file for bankruptcy just like the Donald did ( at least 4 times)

Go ahead, call me cold and callus. People seldom want the truth. While I feel sorry for his son, and the family, it won't help being public about their plight, hardly anyone with big money cares. Watch the Donald come out and make fun of someone breaking down on national television, it's what he does best.

The Republicans can't get together because they can't agree on how bad to make it. Making healthcare unregulated is the same as denying healthcare for the majority of people.

Dock, yes he has money, fame and insurance. His message was this shouldn't take down any family. He said all of the right things at the right time. I hope more say yes I too need my needs considered by the govt. Those getting the relief (taxes) need it the least. It's time for people to stand and be heard.

I'm handing out likes today, this post is a thumbs up!

I think you're correct Chet, they not only can't get together, but the president keeps sparring with his own party, I'm looking ahead to 4 years of them getting entirely nothing done. Which is probably a good thing for democrats, liberals and progressives.

Okay, he's a good messenger, we won't shoot him, but how many conservatives or people who support the republican party actually watch his show?

People are always putting their faith in compromise. There is no reason for any Democrat to compromise in any shape or form on any republican health care bill. Period. Possibly a strong stand could effect a republican's conscience to actually put the national interest above the Republican self interest.

National interest above self interest. The Republicans know how to make spmething work. Spend money. Defense budget. The same applies to the country. National budget. Spend money and increase revenues through prosperity. Austerity is anathema to a country. It simply erroneously protects self interest.
