2 children trying to sell lemonaid. Mom uses great ingredients to prepare it. Dad builds a stand and puts up signs. After sitting for 11 hours they've sold 2 glasses. WELCOME TO THE DEMOCRATIC HUB. Rarely does an exchange occur on 4 topics. You who are in charge should consider telling a few friends about the site. Perhaps we could take a collection and advertise somewhere. It is like an unfed stray dog. Capable of much, but underachieving on a good day. Imagine not having 8 contributors (4 of which are part-time) but having 24 who have something to add. I don't want a site with hundreds or more contributors but it's a political site and on Nov. 8 (pm) I was begging for contributions. There used to be various moderators but this is becoming that unfed stray dog as mentioned above. There are many issues that could be addressed. There was just an election with bizarre results and there's next to no interest.

Lemonade, 3 for a dollar. It's 94 degrees and cannot sell this stuff.

Our leadership met a girl which we are all honestly thrilled about. Maybe that unfed stray should go to the humane society, or buy a damned bag of food and fill a bucket with water.

    I agree.

I just joined, but I have to say that compared to other forums I've frequented, this one offers an underwhelming amount of activity.

It's a shame, too. The Democrats need, now more than ever, a place to regroup. Additionally, this forum features a nice layout. Among the folks who actually post regularly, some actually post some excellent material.

T.J. I wrote quite a few messages about that in the past. I told the "management" to get inroads into the Washington clan, and advertise it over there. Plenty of members quit overtime because discussions became either boring and going in circles and seldom there were new positive members added. So my suggestion is to promote this site such way that it is being read by the people who have influence in our society. The main problem is I guess, people here are too busy to get involved and accept "facts" of life. They rather live in the la la land here.

Do you think the lower classes are doing okay or that they are having problems?

There are multiple other members that present excellent material. Since you have been here have you seen a discouragement to them.

I think the lower classes are having problems. The country is still on its way to having effective single-payer health insurance. We're still on our way to giving the lower class a living wage. We're still on our way to having serviceable public education. Unfortunately, we still have uninsured people or premiums they can't afford. The current minimum wages fail to keep people afloat. And the public K-12 education in most states actually compares to third-world systems.

Not sure what you mean in your second-third sentences. A lot of people are pissed and we're all reflecting on what just happened.

"A lot of people are pissed and we're all reflecting on what just happened."

I think what just happened was a total misunderstanding of charisma and the poor conditions of the poor.

Regarding charisma I have been dealing with the phenomenon for a very long time. What the Democratic campaign lacked was the comprehension of and how to deal with Trump's charisma. People that are drawn by charisma cannot be changed by negative attacks on their object. That denies the definition of charisma which is unconditional acceptance. All the republican challengers attacked and degraded Trump to the benefit of Trump. Then when his sound byte became lots of good paying jobs he added benevolence to charisma and became even more infallible to traditional smear tactics. Criticizing Trump was taking good paying jobs away from his supporters. The only way to challenge his presidency would be to praise him and offer him the most powerful job in Hillary's presidency. Understanding that he was telling a bold face lie about jobs what would another lie hurt. Probably to late but if Hillary came out on the weekend before the election praising Trump to high heaven and saying what a world conquering team she and Trump would make, how everybody knows she was the best for the Presidency and he was the world champion negotiator that electing her would put that team together. Trump wouldn't have had time to counter and Hillary might have won. People were lying to the polls and nobody wanted to believe it. Anybody that could do anything just didn't think. They saw for over a year that attacking him made him stronger. The obvious Bradley effect was denied. The same thinking seems to be carrying on. The Democratic Party has got to recognize the bad conditions of the lower classes.

I didn't see anything subsequent to the OP and in particular the above quote that wasn't congruent to warrant another thread.

The OP seems to be about advertising the site, or at least an attempt to start dialogue about how the conditions of the site could improve.

    Politics are only auxiliary.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

Keeping within the OP's thoughts about dying or lack of activity I was wondering if you have seen a contributing fact to the low activity. Then I digressed, not to disrespect the OP, just curiosity.

    I understand.

Well, several facebook groups exist for the sole purpose of resisting the Trump campaign and his administration.

They offer resources and ways to network with like-minded people. Additionally, they have high rates of activity.

Since the demand for that kind of content is strong, but the activity here is weak, I would have to conclude that the outreach here is weak.

There was another liberal forum I lurked on before I joined this one, and it harbored so many trolls that they had a clear issue with moderation.

So, in the case of this discussion board, the deficiencies don't lie so much in the content or internal management.

To be clear, I'm not trying to defame the forum in any way. Just trying to make an observation about what could be improved.

Scytale, you're crystal clear. It's about wanting to foster an environment where an idea is presented and in addition to the 3 standard replies, 3 unique, interesting and innovative ideas are presented as well. I believe with more contributors that's far more likely to happen. It's about opening our minds to suggestions that most wouldn't have anticipated.

You can have morning coffee with the same 3 guys for 20 years. If there's breaking news..... well you already know what they think. That was the purpose of this thread.

Tony, I've tried for many years, but this site is like the Dem's party; stagnant and sound asleep at the wheel, till they hit a tree; which they did hit now, but they are still in an coma, without "health insurance" ; the recovery may take forever because of the "brain" damage; doctor Trump has no time for the patient either and already made funeral plans for the patient. Amen

I wrote many times suggestions on how to improve this country by copying things which do work in other countries. But got scolded most of the time. Like "education" ( the Bernie suggestion), like proper gun laws, like progressive tax rates, like emission control, like healthcare for all ( having full control on doctors and pill makers), environmental control, election systems and many other things I did mention related to our stupid wars and Pentagon waste, as well the negative impact of "religion" on progressive thinking in this country.etc etc.etc.
