All I'm saying is that words matter, Dutch. Flippantly calling the United States a banana republic doesn't make it so. It just means you don't seem to understand the definition of banana republic.

Donald is not a dictator. If he were then we wouldn't be able to bash him on this forum because he would do what China and Russia do and criminalize dissent.

The Constitution actually greatly restricts a Presidents powers, but "we the people" have become too lazy to force our Congressional leaders to hold him in check. The antiquated Constitution you seem to despise actually gives Congress a hell of a lot more powers than the President, but if "we the people" are too lazy to vote for President every four years, we are MIA when it comes to voting for our Representatives and Senators.

We get the government we vote for. We don't always get the President we vote for, but we certainly get the Representatives and Senators we vote for. And not voting is the same as voting for the opposing party.

Jared, all you said is wishful thinking; indeed DT is an dictator as he sees it; why does he loves Putin and Kim so much? Because he wants to be the same. Also look at the gun laws and all other things; then it should be very clear to you that the Constitution is outdated. Just like you said yourselves about the voting system. Let alone the unbridled powers of a President here who can do as he likes and can demand "loyalty"; if Congress is "loyal" and has become the Trump Party then certainly they don't have any "power" over the President. Therefore it will be very hard to remove him. No Jared you are seeing blind. Talk to me in a year or two; then you will totally agree.

B.S. Can any Prime Minister in Europe introduce tariffs? Can they rip children from their mothers arms by just ordering that? Can they appoint high level people without any screening or "vetting" (neither Bolton, Kudlow, Ross, Miller have been "vetted"). Can they write Executive Orders as they do here to undo everything what their predesessor has done? We the "people" don't have any say in this; sorry our President has way too much powers in many cases; which leads to dictatorship.

Dutch. The ancient outdated constitution is not the paper standing in the way of a good USA. The bible rules most of the people here and it has answers for every situation standing in the way of the power grabbers.

The crusades, inquistions, Salem witches and et al.

Not necessarily so Chet. People who identify themselves as Christians is lower than it was in the past.
