Why don't you finally admit that these things here are ridiculous; certainly in Europe they don't spent billions lobbying and "buying" elections via weird methods. Just keep defending it Jared. Sorry there is no Democracy here only "Capitalism" ask Bernie; and now an possible "dictatorship" I can compare that, may be not you; it is corrupt all the way here and you accept that. Thus Trump deserved to become President according to you because it followed the stupid US made election rules without any "vetting" whatsoever. He can do now whatever he wants and even does not have to give an tax report or asset report, lawsuits report, liabilities report, his bank accounts all over the world, connections and holdings all over; you just name it, because of no laws exists or seem to apply or this guy. I hope you enjoy it.
What are you accusing me of defending? The fact that I understand the difference between a Presidential democracy and a Parliamentary democracy?
I am just as livid about Trump's election as you are. I hate that a minority of voters in rural states are able to overrule the majority of voters in our electoral system. The electoral college is a terrible system that gives far too much power to a minority of voters. It was a compromise between the northern and southern colonies that needed to be done away with hundreds of years ago. But I also understand that bitching about it to people who agree with me isn't going to change any of that.
"All politics is local." If you want to change the system then start in your home community. Work to elect progressive people to your city council, state elected offices, and governorship. Then work to have those people rewrite the rules that give far too much power to corporate interests. We've done that out here on the west coast, but it takes time and patience.

Why don't you start the drive to do it and stop hiding behind your computer? If you want a parliamentary system then fight for it. No one is stopping you.
I'm not a "burn it all to the ground" kind of person. I'd rather take the things that work and make them even better and do away with the things that don't. I don't see the big problem with being a Presidential democracy. It's worked for two hundred plus years, which, mind you, is a hell of a lot longer than the Parliamentary democracies of Europe. (We can have an entirely different discussion about the history of Parliaments in many European countries, but they were by no means democratically elected by the people.)
