We can't risk losing in 2020. Make sure the next candidate is OURS

I've started a petition directed at the leadership of the DNC calling for the immediate elimination of Superdelegates.

In my opinion, one of the reasons we lost the 2016 election is because the DNC leadership were completely tone-deaf. To put it bluntly, they were so loyal to the Clinton machine that they ignored a groundswell of Americans begging for change and instead offered them the status quo.

The 2020 election is too important to risk having a candidate handpicked by party elders. The only thing that should matter are ideas and votes.

Please sign this petition and let's make sure our voices are heard loud and clear:

Sorry "super delegates or normal delegates or electoral colleges", don't belong in an election. Take an example of other civil countries where only the votes count and no fooling around with these things is allowed. Neither that billions are spent on just to get an new leader. All of Europe is shaking their heads on how an crazy country like the US can't use common sense about just about anything. As well educate people here about what are the right choices in life as well what works and what not. Just to vote for "change" while you don't know what that "change" is , let alone if it is feasible or affects you. Politicians are known to be liars; Trump is an expert at that; neither never groped women or called people names.

    So your petition is incomplete.

    That isn't necessarily true.

The vast majority of other liberal democracies have a parliamentary system. Most parliamentary democracies have a Prime Minister that is the leader of the majority party, but that leader isn't chosen directly by the people.

I'm not saying it's better or worse, but comparing American democracy with that of Europe is like comparing apples and oranges. They may both be fruits, but are entirely different fruits.

Yes the "fruits" here are rotten. Why don't you finally admit that these things here are ridiculous; certainly in Europe they don't spent billions lobbying and "buying" elections via weird methods. Just keep defending it Jared. Sorry there is no Democracy here only "Capitalism" ask Bernie; and now an possible "dictatorship" I can compare that, may be not you; it is corrupt all the way here and you accept that. Thus Trump deserved to become President according to you because it followed the stupid US made election rules without any "vetting" whatsoever. He can do now whatever he wants and even does not have to give an tax report or asset report, lawsuits report, liabilities report, his bank accounts all over the world, connections and holdings all over; you just name it, because of no laws exists or seem to apply or this guy. I hope you enjoy it.

When is this country going to dump that stupid Constitution and replace it with an parliamentary system? Then we may as well get decent gun laws etc.

What are you accusing me of defending? The fact that I understand the difference between a Presidential democracy and a Parliamentary democracy?

I am just as livid about Trump's election as you are. I hate that a minority of voters in rural states are able to overrule the majority of voters in our electoral system. The electoral college is a terrible system that gives far too much power to a minority of voters. It was a compromise between the northern and southern colonies that needed to be done away with hundreds of years ago. But I also understand that bitching about it to people who agree with me isn't going to change any of that.

"All politics is local." If you want to change the system then start in your home community. Work to elect progressive people to your city council, state elected offices, and governorship. Then work to have those people rewrite the rules that give far too much power to corporate interests. We've done that out here on the west coast, but it takes time and patience.

Why don't you start the drive to do it and stop hiding behind your computer? If you want a parliamentary system then fight for it. No one is stopping you.

I'm not a "burn it all to the ground" kind of person. I'd rather take the things that work and make them even better and do away with the things that don't. I don't see the big problem with being a Presidential democracy. It's worked for two hundred plus years, which, mind you, is a hell of a lot longer than the Parliamentary democracies of Europe. (We can have an entirely different discussion about the history of Parliaments in many European countries, but they were by no means democratically elected by the people.)

First, I want to hear what is the change you are looking for? Change for change sake is just insanity. Besides, I have been listening to a bunch of Republicans crying to me that they would have given their eye teeth for Super Delegates. Most do not feel like they won anything in this election except a crap sandwich. Honestly, I don't care either way, but I would like to know what I really get for not having them. What keeps us from having a someone equally as insane running in our party? Do you think it can't happen? Not all outsiders are nice little grandpa guys trying to give you free college. Though I do have to admit, I wish they were. But, there are Leftist Authoritarians just like Authoritarians on the right. I do have to say, its kind of hard to tell which one Trump is, but neither is good. What exactly are you selling here?

Is there any possibility of a consensus on four main planks the Democratic Party should offer for 2020. I think there is both irony and a warning that 2020 is the year of perfect vision.

Thanks Jared; I'm glad you see my points. However I'm just an "dumb" immigrant and can't influence the whole of Washington, let alone the community I live in, who are as stupid as most "deplorables"; fighting here in FL is only about "dead" fish on the beach and multi million dollar bicycle path for 3 bicycle'ists per week. Thus the lonely me, nor you alone can't change this country. However if as an "head" of this site you would make sure that this "Hub"publication is being read by the Washington insiders and politicians, then we are making headway.

Related to 2020, I fear that this country did not clean the "swamp" but only created an bigger one. The main point is if "elections" continue be done as of now, then this country will only go further down the drain. No one with "brains" will be elected as long as you keep the population stupid, because stupid people will never elect someone with brains. They prefer an "promise'r" or an B.S.'r who talks like an snake oil salesman, like the "churches" do. So if the election rules are not changed and "deplorables" have not changed in their attitudes then we get again what we deserve. So an candidate alone does not work, but other things have to change first in this country, like better education especially in the "rust" belts and "Bible" belts.

People will bet on anything. Odds for 2020 election are already out there. Top Democrat is Michelle Obama at 12 - 1. The pres. Elect, and a few other R 's are next in line. Those you might expect are further down the list.
