Since I'm 75 and know my character; then looking at Trump, while people around him think he can change then they got it wrong. People of 70 (what he is) won't change!!!!! Proof of that is there already about his "tweets" related to the demonstrations.

Furthermore his ego is so huge that he won't accept anyone who does not agree with him. This nomination alone makes him even more dangerous then he already was, because this type of guy will now think he's "god" himself.

Furthermore he has the "hoarder" mentality, which means he won't let go of his "empire". An interview with Guiliani already showed the problem of him separating the job of President with his own business. Officially he can't put is kids in charge, but has to put an independent "trustee" into it. But even Guiliani had his doubts if that would work. So Democrats be alert to immediately do something and act if there is an conflict of interest. I hope so, that he get's nailed about it. Study the weak points in his appointment; he's got plenty of them, thus to go after him.

Trumps character or lack thereof. He was interested in winning a popularity contest not leading people.

I will certainly agree that Donald Trump is unlikely to change on most issues with his big ego. However, note that he is more of a carnavel barker than an ideologue. My hope is that he can be twisted on some issues like ObamaCare as he learns more of how repealing it might affect his personal legacy. As much as I despise Trump, I think Ted Cruz would have been far worse. Ditto for Mike Pence...creepy.

I also would not stereotype people in their 70s. As a 70 year old I have been a life long "flexible thinker" depending on what the facts and analyses show. And the reality is that compromises are necessary in life and government. That's why I also appreciated Hillary Clinton...flexible to political situations. Ideologues might see that as a negative, but not me. She will be remembered as one of the great thinkers and strategists...a wonk perhaps.

Schmidt, actually you are saying that you don't change either in your thinking; thus what I said is right on.

I sadly think that she will be remembered by the rhetorical crap the R's threw onto the wall 50 million times. Some stuck. Many people don't want to decide what to think. They want to be told what to think. Hillary didn't break a law but thousands were told she was evil and in essence killed Americans in Benghazi..... Oh yeah, it was proven that she e mailed. She was paid for speeches and charitably gave to many outside of this country. Pure evil, therefore the garbage spread endlessly is the most recent and thus will be the distorted view too many will hold. Deplorableville, USA. Population 170 million.

T.J. she won all the debates and was an "steady" well educated person; however the "voters" were the total "uneducated bunch" who only wanted "change"; they don't care about decency or a bit of class. I said many times that this country is an uneducated "island"; his election proves it. With Pence we will be back in 1800's.

"winning a popularity contest not leading people."

Remember the conversation he said he had with Melania about running for President. She said you know if you run you will win. She didn't say what a great service he would perform or what a great President he would be. She said if you run you will win. Almost a warning that proving a point can entail a lot of obligations. Put those words in any conversation and see how it turns out. If and will are almost a warning to consider the consequences. It is actually addressed in grammar and logic as a conditional syllogism.

Trumps tax plan hurts single mothers but helps millionaires. Anybody surprised ? Not me. I don't believe single mothers are typically in the Republican category so no harm. Maybe single mothers will remember that and get into the category of "those who vote" in the next election so whether they matter might be a worthy question. Yes I am being somewhat sarcastic because it makes the way unfair seem a little more believable.

I think age has less to do with it. Research has proven that normal people learn new skills well after they enter their golden years.

He won't change his character because he suffers from textbook narcissism, which has no hard-and-fast cure.

His narcissism fuels most of his deplorable character traits. He feels he is entitled to positions of power. Consequently, he makes allegations that systems are rigged against him. Furthermore, he has an overbearing sense of grandiosity. His absurd ambitions came full swing when he tried to install the Taj Mahal in defiance of projected losses. Additionally, he acts as one of the nation's most prolific conspiracy theory peddlers. Conspiratorial thinking has been linked to narcissism. And do I really need to get started on his empathy issues?

I would feel sorry for his administration were it not for the fact that I despise them as well.
