Hi All
I started a petition to have Obama push through Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court without Senate approval (yes it turns out that may be possible).
change.org/p/the-obama-white-house-appo...
I have no distribution network to promote something like this, so help to spread it is very appreciated.
Text of the petition:
It is unprecedented for the Senate not to have a hearing on Merrick Garland for appointment to the Supreme Court, and it is partisan politics at its worst.
President Obama has the right to have his appointee be judged fairly, and since the Senate failed to do so, it has abdicated its right to do so.
It turns out that the Senate's approval is not strictly necessary in the first place:

We need Merrick Garland on the Supreme Court to deal with huge issues that are threatening our democracy:
*The voter suppression caused by the gutting of The Voting Rights Act.
*Citizens United has made politicians beholden to the special interests instead of the people.
*Gerrymandering prevents people from fairly choosing their Representatives in the House.
If we don't act now, there will likely be very little democracy left in four years for us to try to save.
Without a working democracy the problems our country faces will be insurmountable for generations to come.
Here is wishing the community here the best in these hard times.
