This is one of many reasons why the Dems always end up screwing themselves and Obama is the poster boy! He did't learn 8 years ago the Republicans only care about holding power at any cost when he naively assumed they would accept him as the legitimate President what made him believe they would ever change their minds? Unbelievable!!!

Chet's heading of this "thread" was that Trump could win this thing. Looking at the "polls" right now, they are "even". So Chet may be right after all. Trump is elevating this from as they say in Dutch: from an "ant" to an "elephant". He's got an "hayday" As the "evangelicals" will say "god" did give him an "gift" from "heaven".
Sorry Jared and Schmidt our predictions ( Chet, T.J. as well P.R. and myself) were right on; we said don't sell the bearskin before you have had an chance to shoot it, already way in the past. So next week I bet it will be an national disaster. Amen
We are in this mess because of denial. All the while I took flack from jaredsxtn and TJ I was pointing out the weakness of Hillary and each time I emailed the campaign my thoughts and implored Schmidt to use his party standing to alert the campaign . This forum could have had an effect if the vulnerability of Hillary had been accepted and corrected. Still not over but there is absolutely no reason Hillary should be running neck and neck with a dictator. Half the country is supporting a dictator. Charisma Trumps objectivity and logic.

I don't call understanding the difference between a singular generic national poll and averaging a multitude of swing state polls being in denial. It's called understanding the difference between polls that matter and polls that mean absolutely nothing.
The best way to understand polling is not via generic national polls, but through combining multiple polls taken in a specific state, averaging them, weighing them against certain factors, and then determining the margin of error. If you look at things scientifically then you would see that the vast majority of swing states are still tilting towards Clinton with Ohio being the main outlier, which is tilting towards Trump. That doesn't mean that all of those states will eventually vote for Clinton, but it's important to understand that national polls are as worthless as a $3 bill at this point in the race.

Dutch Wrote: Jared, just this morning the FL polls show an 4 point Trump lead while a week ago Hillary had an 4 point lead. Thus if the FL voting polls are like that, then I think it reflects the same way in the whole "picture". Also don't forget the majority still has to vote and things can change for the worst rapidly, especially if Trump keeps hollering that he has found the "mother lode" and gets her indicted.
There is a big difference between a singular poll and a "poll of polls."
Averaging the various polls is one of the best ways to weed out the good ones and not so good ones. It also enables political scientists to get a better understanding of what each state is thinking because different polls use different methodologies. Some use land lines only. Some use cell phones only. Others use both.
It's very important to not get caught up on what one specific poll is saying and instead focus on the bigger picture.
I would also remind you that roughly twenty percent of voters have already cast their vote and it is very likely that upwards of 40% of voters will cast their votes before next Tuesday. Current numbers show registered Democrats far outpacing their Republican counterparts in early voting, which is the exact opposite of what typically happens in early voting.
