Arizona has voted for the Republican Presidential candidate for nine out of the past ten elections. The sole outlier? When they voted to reelect President Bill Clinton in 1996.

Another Clinton is on the ballot this year and fivethirtyeight, an opinion poll analysis website run by polling guru Nate Silver, is showing that Secretary Clinton has a very real possibility of winning a state the Democrats seemed to have written off years ago.

This is the literal definition of the Trump Effect. A safely red state that typically doesn't care who they vote for as long as there is an 'R' next to the name is now in play in 2016.

I have a feeling that Arizona isn't some anomaly and that we will see some traditionally red states switching to the blue column this year.

That would really be great news if Hillary (with Bill's help) flipped Arizona to blue. Maybe retire John McCain in the process.

Writing from London Heathrow. Long layover.

With Bill's help? Are you nuts? He is an burden, not an asset!!! Wake up; you can join the "ostriches" in South Africa.!!

I know it's physically impossible for you to accept facts often, but the fact is that former President Bill Clinton is wildly popular in the Democratic Party and to this day still has an approval rating well over 50%.

It was in the 70 percentile until Hillary's campaign and it only makes sense that Republicans now view him unfavorably. I'm not worried about what Republicans think about him though. Democrats and left of center "Independents" love him.

I agree. If she can flip the reddest of red states then that means she will have the political capital she'll need to weather some of the shit storm Republicans are salivating to unleash on her come January.

What I find most interesting about 538's forecasts is that they are projecting Clinton may win Arizona while at the same time giving McCain a 95.6% chance of winning. It seems as if the voters in Arizona aren't quite ready to elect a Democratic Senator, but are more than willing to vote for Clinton over Trump.

Jared, shaking my old head. "Title" of an article ( which I'm not allowed to post from you) says "Anger explodes at an rally", because Bill just got nailed again on the trail ( where he should not be), he called Trump's followers "rednecks". Very smart indeed; they are already wearing "deplorables" T-shirts, I guess now they will have also 'Redneck" T-shirts. Furthermore Trump ( because Bill is on the trail, is spewing more and more dirt about Bill). Also an Wiki leaks disclosure shows that the DNC made fun of Catholics. Etc etc. I don't know how people like you are so indoctrinated not to see wat is the result of this stupidity. As I said Hillary should have told Bill to stay home; but you and Hillary never learned how you should act by not having an focus during an election on an "screw up" by a bit senile Bill Clinton. She should have warned him already during his visit to the plane with the "attorney" in it. He is not an asset, but an liability. He can be popular "within the party" but that does not win new "votes"; instead you will loose votes.

Read also this mail, I posted before:

I guess you live on the same outer space planet as Jared; if you don't understand what I wrote, tell me that, instead of living in la la land and keep thinking the Clinton's are holier than the Pope. Sorry Bill has done an lot of stupid things, even when he visited the plane with the "attorney" in it. Can you imagine having him in the White House? What will he do; have his own "harem" there? Or will he dictate Hillary and be acting as President again? As I said before "she" should run things; not him. Especially Trump will keep hammering on Bill's missteps. If you can't have an open mind about that, then welcome to the naive club.

Dutch, The biggest animosity has to be between Oprah Winfry's personal trainer and personal chef. They both want to do what's best for Oprah but they hate each other. If one person wants to help where another person says no help is needed then there is conflict. If somebody thinks there are no problems then anybody that points out a problem is the problem. If Bernie did not run and contrast the difference between Trump and the people Hillary would be running on her original campaign and she would have a lost a lot of votes. Hillary supporters can see no good from Bernie and think Hillary would be a lot further ahead if Bernie never existed. I don't know and dont remember but I dont think there was any gratitude expressed for Bernie changing Hillary's platform at the convention.

Is there a single post on any topic at all that you guys won't turn into a rant against the Clinton's?

This post is about Hillary's chances in Arizona. Do either of you have anything to contribute to the discussion on that topic?

It is time you grow up; there is no "rant" against the Clinton's; think for a change that they are not "holy" as you and all their "adventures" are worth discussing. You're an dreamer; the world is the "most peaceful place right now" according to you; are you really that dumb? Yes may be in Iceland or the South Pole. You're absolutely ignorant. Read some"outside" US news for a change.

Related to Arizona "chances" are as big as Ohio, Florida, N. Carolina "chances" ; all of this is an "crystal ball"; even in the last two weeks still all kind of things can happen. May be Bill announces an new girlfriend for all I know. Thus your subject is guess work and may not matter at all. So why bring it up?

Dutch, obsessing over Bill and his crotch is what deplorable R's do. You're better than that, but like cigarette smokers bad choices are made repeatedly. I think that analogy is good. You both say you want Trump to lose but spout negatives about the dems daily. It matters and you should tell your smoking friends that there are mountains of scientific evidence that it's a bad idea. If you and Chet can make more negative comments about the evil one for 3 more weeks, you can blast the dems for 4 - 8 years.

T.J. I guess you are smarter than that; I hope you've seen that I'm "independent", so I look at it from "both" sides. I scolded the Trump things much more than the "Bill" things. So I look at things the way they are, not through "colored" glasses. If Bernie would have won then, I would have also some comments. Having an open not pre-programmed mind is the best way to look at things. Because of the "island" mentality here; people close their eyes, because they follow their selected "media" only. In relation to "deplorables"; yes they are here to stay and may have lots of influence in this country for a long time, smoking weed and drinking Dutch beer; especially here in FL. Sorry to say Jared and Schmidt both are in 'love" with Hillary, but refuse to accept reality; neither "she", her "husband" nor Trump nor Mr. Aleppo are "clean" and suited to run this country. Both candidates are an awful, bad choice.

Can you do a single post without calling someone dumb, stupid, an idiot, or any other derogatory word? Should I remind you of the community rules again?

And the reason I say the world is at its most peaceful time in all of recorded history is because it's true. You see Dutch, I like facts. You are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts.

I challenge you to prove me wrong. And not just with stating what you feel or attacking me for being ignorant, but with cold hard facts disproving what I've said.

If you believe you are able to, can you please do so on a new thread? Here's a title suggestion: "Dutch proving Jared wrong."

My only suggestion is that you actually come to the table ready to disprove my assertions because I am more than capable of refuting pretty much anything you say with actual facts.

If you can't do that then just let it go because you are going to lose the argument and lose it badly.

I brought it up because Arizona has been considered deeply red for a very long time and it would be a big deal if Secretary Clinton won the state.

Jared you are unbelievable!! "peaceful times" are not measured by "death toll" Just stick to your statistics; they mean nothing. Is there peace in Central Africa? Is there peace in the Congo? Is there peace in the Ukraine, Sudan, Egypt, Libya, Uganda , Nigeria, Mali, Philipines, Korea, Nepal, Yemen, of course the countries we invaded etc etc. Very "peaceful times" indeed. Statistics never measure "peaceful things" Even here with the elections it is very "peaceful" until now, but I wonder "after" what will happen. The word "peaceful" relates to "turmoil/unrest" not the number of "death" itself. Look it up in your dictionary.

I agree that we are involved way too often but I think most issues are human nature. We aren't heavily involved in Central Africa and bad human rights and poverty are rampant. There will always be problems and we should be cautious in choosing where to get involved. Some see the world and see the problems we've solved and those we have not yet solved. We should note other countries with wealth have done nothing. Our actions should be carefully measured.
